I was expecting it be $20. Didn't have much intrest in it past the concept which I doubt it can deliver so I don't really care that much. I am interested in that homefront price, though.

Haha, no.

Also, look how hyped Evolve was. Look how hyped Evolve is. Do a pattern match to No Man's Sky. However the game turns out on launch, it'll never be able to live up to the promise.

If it'll worth the money, then why not? Some franchises release games with less quality / quantity every year for the same price if not for more.

I personally have no problem paying $60 for indie games if they are done right.
I really like the idea behind this one, but I won't pre-order it.
I will pay $60 after release IF it gets good reviews, good previews, and depending on the whole content of the game of course. If it offers what the hype has suggested then I have no problem paying $60 for a game I will spend hundreds of hours in most likely.

But for now... although I like the idea, there just isn't enough information about it for me to make a decision yet, and I have been disappointed too many times to pre-order $60 titles anymore.

I will not only buy this game on the first second the check-out button become available, but I insist to use my very special voucher that I keep for unique events like this one, you see... if you add my voucher the game price will be increase by at least 40% so you can show your support for the greedy developers, moreover, I want to pay in order to play the game before Gold version, so I can help the devs.

I have a feeling this is way too much for what it actually is. A team of 15 people can't create enough content to justify a price tag that high. I love indie games but the prices is just getting silly now.

Man, it seems like you all should try to get on the price is right since you think you're all so good at guessing how much something is worth without knowing really anything about it.
Why would this be priced any lower than every other large release?
Why is it cool for Star Citizen to have several hundred dollar ships while still not having a release date but this, which could end up being on the same scale, is "cringy"?
Ya'll have skewed senses of value.

Why is 60$ too much for this game again if everything it's promised comes to fruition?

It's the same as any AAA title, that's really not that bad. It looks really great and interesting and unique, which is a lot more than most games that price can offer tbh.

Hype hype hype.

I'm actually looking forward to this game. It's not anything new with this price, it was known for a while.
I believe the game holds a great potential, but how great will the actual experience/game be... I hope it will be worth it, because it could be one of the better games. If it sucks, I'll get new Deus Ex few months later instead for the same-ish price.

How is this a shock or surprise? New games have been $59.99 on release for this entire console generation.

Just compare it to the other titles in that picture. Both Doom 4 and Homefront are games made by studios that has 200+ employees each. Even with teams that size the games still took well over 5 years to make.

No Man's Sky is made by 15 people and it took around 4 years to make. That's why people expected it to be cheaper - same as with most other indie titles.

Four years is a damn long time for a small studio to make a game while generating no income on it. In addition the game structure is such that all player data has to be retrieved from a central server cluster because there an no separate instances of the game. That means supporting infrastructure costs for the life of the game itself.

Sure, indie development is a risk... but how exactly does that mean it's worth more? The fact remains that the other games in that picture cost significantly more than NMS to make. Not to mention that there are plenty of ways indie devs can get money during development, especially today with services like Kickstarter etc.

... and plenty of games require back end infrastructure to run today, even indie titles. It's not even multiplayer in the traditional sense, so I doubt it'll be that significant.

If I worked on a game for 4 years, I'd sure like to get paid for my work at some point. That's an impressive feat for 15 people, just look at how the game looks. That's a shitton of work, which I think justifies the price.

Actually I was pleasantly surprised since last summer it was reported the game would cost $70. This is $10 cheaper.

Serious. The $70 price tag was announced months ago. So seeing it for $60 is good news that they aren't charging more than the standard AAA price for a new release.

As for whether $60 is a fair price, that's depends on the game and the buyer. There's lots of people who think Fallout 4 is worth every penny they spent on it and others who were deeply disappointed they paid full price.

It always depends on the buyer, just like this extreme exemple http://gizmodo.com/5034122/guy-buys-999-im-rich-app-discovers-hes-just-dumb

Let's be honest, It's not like most people pay full price for games anyway. I've been following this game since it was announced and I've watched nearly every video released about it. I will pay full price, because I think Sean Murray has poured his soul into this thing, but it won't appeal to everyone. We all have the ability to wait for sales or buy on a third party site for whatever price matches our "value proposition" which is entirely subjective.

I mean, it's kind of the standard for modern-day releases, no? I was going to say AAA but that's presumptuous, as if only AAA games do it.

Ouch! $60? Brutal.. It's high on my list, but I for SURE will want to see it's on par with the best games for that price.

As someone else said though, if it's something I'm fairly certain I'll put tons of hours in I could see myself still buying. I paid almost full retail for Skyrim and even considering the DLC it works out to about 4 cents an hour of play for me.
