Hello everyone!

Thank you all for participating in my Tower!
Here we have some final remarks, and the solution of the puzzles.

1) Thank you.

Really, you were amazing. I created the place, but you filled it with life - your stories, your fight against the puzzles, your happiness when you found the solutions, your interactions... Thank you for sharing it. I went a couple of time across the whole tower just to follow your stories, and I enjoyed it a lot - so, if you enjoyed the tower at least half as much I did, I'm happy. :D

2) Why the event? Why now?

Since I joined SG, I was amazed by the puzzle events created by some users, and I wanted to try it myself, after studying a little their techniques. :P
I thought this would be a nice period to do it, since it was near both to my birthday and my first cakeday.
In the end, I chose the worst period for me - I was so busy, I could sleep less than 5 hours per night - but incredibly I was able to manage the tower, and everything worked well. Magic. :D

3) Solution to the floors

Ok, now to the main part.

  1. The first floor was a simple nonlinear maze: 21 floors, by going forth you could only reach 7 of them, and then you got back to the start; when you went back, instead, you could reach the other "groups" of 7 rooms. Yeah, just a not-so-complex way to connect the various rooms. And in some rooms you could find the 5 letters and numbers needed to get to Floor 2.
  2. The second floor, and its mirrors. A nightmare. The mirrors were a place to hide some cryptography. The first ones were simple: with an odd number of mirrors you just had to exchange the order of numbers and letters (aB6->6Ba), while with an even one nothing changes (aB6->aB6). Remember - this logic of inversion will be present in all the floor. Now we get stranger mirrors - "deforming" mirrors. The hints are given through a friend, the little Ted E. Bear. If the gets bigger than you in the mirror, it means that the dimensions (of the letters) are exchanged! So aB6->6bA. And if you have an even number of these mirrors - nothing happens, aB6->aB6! The next deformation step (concerning numbers) is more tricky, as it is a symmetry based on my keyboard: numbers are, in order, 1 2 3 4 5 | 6 7 8 9 0. The symmetry changes 5 to 6, 8 to 3, and so on. Adding to this the fact that we have a mirror (thus another symmetry), 85->63. And we also had a combo of the 2 steps. Finally, a new kind of deformation: all letters were changed into numbers, without any deformation (only the mirroring). Capital and lower letters are shown by the X cases. So aB->1x2X.
  3. Quite simple is this floor: 6 rooms can be easily found following the stairs (that connect rooms in a semi-random way). But if you look carefully at the links of a couple of final stairs, you will find the hidden passage to 2 more rooms! In these rooms you find the 2 parts of a teleporting tool, and if you analyse the source of the text through your browser, you'll find some letters attached to the 2 parts of the device - put together, they will bring you to the next floor!
  4. Carbonara! Hungry and without any new ideas I was. Anyway, the images hid a letter each (if you just place your mouse on it, it should pop up). 5 rooms, 5 images, 5 letters -> next floor!
  5. Paintings hall in similar to carbonara one: links were hidden in the images ;)
  6. Just 2 rooms here: plain link to get from one to the other, while the passage to the next floor was hidden at the end of the youtube link.
  7. Just a jijidi to get to Skyrim!
  8. Ok, that was a joke. The tower ends with Skyrim, great! But that GA ended 1 year ago, sorry for this :P But more interesting, here you get hints to find the special Baba room! You have a glass hammer (and a 3 letter/number code attached to the word, like before with the teleportation) and 2 images with other 3 characters each. If you know Skyrim, you know what is one of the images: the Wabbajack. The tool of Chaos. And he was here just to bring Chaos, together with the Mace of Molag Bal. They were useless, in the search for Baba! Instead, the GLASS hammer was meant to be used on something made of GLASS: one of the windows on the 1st floor, that was hiding the remaining part of the code. Easy peasy. :P

I hope you appreciated it! Any feedback is welcome, in order to be able to create a better event next time! :D

Which one was the hardest part?

View Results
Floor 1 [Hall of Doors, 21 rooms] or passage to 2nd floor
Floor 2 [Hall of Mirrors, 13 rooms] or passage to 3rd floor
Floor 3 [Hall of Stairs, 8 rooms] or passage to 4th floor
Floor 4 [Hall of Carbonara, 5 rooms] or passage to 5th floor
Floor 5 [Hall of Paintings, 3 rooms] or passage to 6th floor
Floor 6 [Hall of No more ideas, 2 rooms :P] or passage to 7th floor
Floor 7 [Hall of Bullets, 1 room] or passage to 8th floor
Floor 8 [Hall of Skyrim, 1 room] or passage to the bonus room

I don't remember which one was the hardest, but some of the later puzzles were some real brain teasers for sure!

I got stuck on the 2 keyboard symmetry puzzles, but managed to bypass them by brute forcing the numbers. The rest wasn't too difficult other than the bonus puzzle which I never solved because I never figured out what to do. I found U2J, hF3, and aWK. I figured Baba was a reference to the game Baba Is You because it is a puzzle game about rearranging blocks of letters.

I now found the 1st floor window. I did look around there but I think you should have put some subtle edit there to make it notable. I didn't think of checking the source code of every single room not even sure I was doing the right thing. I was actually looking hard in the mirror floor. I wanted to smash one of the annoying mirrors!

Eheh, I understand this :P
I saw that a number of players were able to reach the secret room, so I thought it was ok.
Thank you for the feedback! :D

Bump. Thanks for sharing the solutions. I would never figure out the secret room (and I didn't :D)

Oh and what was in the room, unless it's still a secret ?

Not easy peasy when you're not told you are expected to have played a game and havent.

I don't think all the people who found the hidden room did actually play Skyrim. After all, you are not expected to have played it.

Judging by the explained solution, it didn't require you to have played the game though.
The description directly says "glass hammer" and the keyword was glass, referring to a window. Prior knowledge of the game would not give you any advantage and would just lead to dead ends.

If you know Skyrim, you know what is one of the images: the Wabbajack. The tool of Chaos. And he was here just to bring Chaos, together with the Mace of Molag Bal. They were useless, in the search for Baba! Instead, the GLASS hammer was meant to be used on something made of GLASS

Damn, I remember checking a bunch of the first floor GAs, guess I missed one.
I also went through the mirrors first because I remembered there was the whole idea we hate the mirror so maybe we can break one.

Regardless, the puzzle was fun, so thanks.

damn, I didn't understand what "dimensions of the letters are exchanged" meant 😆
