can't listen to tip toe through the tulips without getting goosebumps.
And the worst part is , I am not sure of it's Tiny Tim , or the movie that did it.

If I was to recommend only one recent movie, I'd say Hereditary, has great atmosphere and (non plot spoiler)gets you tensed without jumpscares!
Other movies ctrl f did not show, but worth a mention:
The Babysitter (2017) B slasher feeling, with comedic elements
The Host (2006) Korean classic, great monster movie with some tension and good characters
Life (2017) I mean it is dumb as a nail, but entertaining.
Get Out (2017) another recent movie, might not be for all as it walks a line between horror and social satire.

All seen except Hereditary and The Babysitter. I'll try these.

Village of the Damned 1960 or 1995 ?
Monsters Club didnt see this one.
The Omen (easy ;) ) already seen.

The Japanese originals of the Ring cycle still creep me out, even though I know them by heart.
The original Hellraiser is also a classic, and a tough act to follow. Only 2 (Hellbound) and 6 (Hellseeker) come close. (and 6 puts a twist on the typical Final Girl trope)
Alien is also a favorite of mine.
And I think 1408 is pretty good too, but opinions seem to be more mixed on that one.

That was last year movie, i watched the trilogy for malloween ^^
That reminds me that the series sounds cool too.

Then watch Hereditary (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7784604/) I saw it the last week, it's a good one, give it a try.

3 of my favorite horror movies in the past 15 years "?"
R.E.C: Found fottage kind of movie but really well done! Far better than the american version called qurantine.
the autopsy of jane doe: Doing an autospy on some dead people the police found and stuff starts to happen. Great movie!
Shutter:Thai horror movie about a guy that sees "odd" stuff on his camera.
Also worth mentioning.. Maybe?
Sinister: Washed-up true-crime writer Ellison Oswalt finds a box of super 8 home movies that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose work dates back to the 1960s.
The Eye: The original not the US one as far as i remeber, In short girl get an eye transplant and starts to see weird stuff.
The ring: Who haven't seen this one? I think i actually prefered the american one but not sure. Been a long time now.
Edit: Forgot about the Grudge!

Yeah Happy cake to you :)
Interreted in the tunnel.
Lights out was good but too short, could have been more developed i think.

I´ve heard Ghost Stories (2018) It´s ok. I don´t know but I feel like The Grudge (2004) had some good moments.
Many of the classics are already mentioned.

It's been a while since I've really watched many horror movies, and I need to get back into that. So thanks for putting up this thread. I'll try to name some of the one's I've really liked Fair warning though I was a fan of horror-comedies and B-movie types but here's some I haven't seen mentioned yet:
Horror Comedy (leaving out comedy-horror films like Shaun of the Dead):
Little Evil (2017) - Omen type story line
Tucker and Dale Vs Evil (2010) - Turns redneck/college outing in the woods sub-genre on it's head.
Black Sheep (2006) - New Zealand film with man eating sheep, what's not to love?
Slither (2006) - B-type sci-fi horror comedy
Toxic Avenger (1984) - Really, really B movie, can marathon
Tremors (1990) - can marathon
Bubba Ho-Tep (2002) - geriatric Elvis (played by Bruce Campbell) and a black JFK (Ossie Davis) facing off against a soul sucking mummy feasting on residents of an old-folks home
Actual Horror (-ish)
Dead Snow - (2009) Nazi zombies, not that the link has anything to do with the movie, aside from more zombie nazis (well... maybe still horror-comedy-ish)
Thirst (2009) - Korean vampire movie
Ravenous (1999) - about cannibalism around the time of the civil war
Not actual horror but some unsettling/spooky aspects
They Live (1988) - classic sci-fi
Sunshine (2007) - sci-fi

Oh yeah Sunshine was good. Another Space spooky one :)

a gOLD one :D
I really like; McPherson Family Abduction / The Mcpherson tape / Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County (cant remember other name for the movie)

Zygote by Oats Studios/Neill Blomkamp (District 9, etc).
Also on Steam.
Sci-fi horror. A bit like what I've heard of The Thing.

I was disappointed by The Oats Studios shorts.
Zygote was good but it's an Aliens copy/Paste and the others were boring.
Hope Neil Blomkamp will do better for his long movie.

Yes, good to see a Corean zombie movie. Corean pictures are often true underrated masterpieces.

I can recommend three ghost stories released within a few years of each other:
The Devil's Backbone (El Espinazo del Diablo) - 2001 - Guilermo del Toro at his best, IMO. Set during the Spanish Civil War (the same time as Pan's Labyrinth, which he directed five years later on a much larger budget).
Stir of Echoes - 1999 - Kevin Bacon stars in this movie based on a Richard Matheson novel. Matheson is one of my favorite authors, and wrote "I am Legend" and the "there's something on the wing!" episode of the Twilight Zone (and many other short stories - also the novel "What Dreams May Come," made into a movie with Robin Williams). This had the unfortunate timing to come out the same time as The Sixth Sense and was overshadowed by it. Avoid the terrible sequel (SoE: Homecoming).
Below - 2002 - Written by Darren Aronofsky (shortly after Pi and Requiem for a Dream) and directed by David Twohy (shortly after Pitch Black), it's a ghost story set aboard a submarine during WWII. I can't find anyone's use of the word this way now, but years ago, someone used the word "Kentucky" as an adjective, meaning having a shape that perfectly fits a void (like a missing puzzle piece in the shape of the state of the same name, or like when you're packing a station wagon and you've got an item that's the exact fit for a void left by other things you've already packed). This movie's like that: I needed a ghost story set on a submarine during WWII.

I've seen below, the submarine setting is fun.
Kentucky ? Ok.

The Strangers, the corean one or the american one ?
The blair witch... The first was a new concept; but aged badly imo. Never seen the sequels.

The ONLY thing scary about the Blair Witch was the price I paid to rent it.

Wow. DAMN I see a LOT of god AWFUL titles listed here.
You have GOT to watch the Tombs of the Blind Dead series.
Tombs of the Blind Dead
Return of the Blind Dead
Horror of the Zombies AKA The Ghost Galleon
Night of the Seagulls
Or even Cannibal Holocaust
Antichrist
Adam and Eve versus the Cannibals
To name a few REAL movies.

I think it's a matter of taste. I like some movies considered as very bad. And i can't stay awake in front of some very popular movies. But i'll try these.

Allow me to add in Porno Holocaust and Antropophagus.

Before I list my recommendations, be advised that they're not exactly horror movies in the traditional sense. I'm a big fan of psychological horror, stuff with secrets and plot twists, that relies less on gore than on stuff that makes you think and wonder, even after having finished the movie.
So if it's brutal scares and gallons of blood you want, better stay away from these or you'll be rather disappointed.

Havent seen the univited, i note.
The 3 others are good movies, more fantastic than horror, but good movies. :)

You're not the first to write this title, it seems to be a common taste :)

Hello everybody.
Halloween is coming.
So, in order to spend my evenings, i am searching for scary, spooky, bloody, horror movies or series.
And I mean good ones of course, because in the ocean of horror movies, sadly a few ones are really interesting.
I prefer horror with a fantastic side.
My favourite of all time is Alien. Because the creature is fascinating, the movie well directed, and it doesn’t age.
I can also recommend : The Descent, 28 Days Later, It Follows, The Conjuring series, AQuiet Place.
So, I’m waiting for your recommandations :)
