So it was my own fault and I'll own that, but my account got hacked. I finally got it back, which is great, and I really shouldn't complain. But for some reason this response really bums me out beyond the fact that all of my steam gifts were taken from my inventory. I just wanted to vent about it to people who can understand how much it sucks to lose all of their steam gifts. You'd think they could just invalidate the keys from the account that redeemed them (all the same account, all redeemed so it seems easy enough to track). Anyway, thanks for hearing my complaint.

In the future, I recommend using LastPass because it only fills in your username and password on the correct domain, not phony sites that might have a very similar domain.

Also, yeah, Steam support sucks.

I feel salty that I even got caught by such a stupid thing. I'm usually more aware than that.

Yeah I assume the process is at least partially automated/botted.

I'm sorry that happened. And sorry for belated comment, but I wanted to advise (although maybe you already know about this) enable Family View and bind it to another mail than Steam. Not too strong protection, of course, but still +1 precautions.

Sorry for your loss.

Isn't there a trade hold after changing PW and/or steam guard and when trading with a new "friend"? Or have your gifts been sent away by mail?

Nope what happened was they got access to the account, then traded things away, and then disabled steam guard and changed passwords :(

Callouts aren't permitted, however I wonder if there isn't a way to share the information without disrespecting the rules of this community.

Just talk outside of it - like adding each other and sending a PM ;) or writing comment on Steam profile

Did you use that "family lock" thing on Steam? i use it as a third password in case someone manage to steal my e-mail, my original password and my steam guard code because it locks my entire account too

and i hope the steam support at least make the "efforts" of that scammer useless by removing everything they took from you :/

No, but I guess maybe I should have. I never realized it would actually help but seems like the are recommending this as well.

I'm very sorry Bobisbadat. I think I've lost an account or two before to scammers but not steam accounts. Just gaming ones
one thing I did not understand was how they would take away steamgifts, do you mean like gifts in your inventory?
