Fire breaks out at a Russian fuel depot near Ukrainian border
(excerpt)

Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Belgorod region, accused Ukraine of being behind the blaze without providing further evidence.

“The fire at the oil depot occurred as a result of an air strike coming from two helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces which entered the territory of the Russian Federation flying at a low altitude. There are no victims,” said Gladkov.

(excerpt)

CNN has sought comment from Ukraine regarding reports of a purported strike by Ukrainian helicopters on the fuel storage facility in Belgorod.

Bohdan Senyk, the head of the public affairs department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said there was "no information" about the incident.

(excerpt)

There seems to be a perception that Russia was destroyed by Ukraine.
Ukrainian public relations officials have made statements that seem to have no idea.

Text book false flag operation.
Next we know Russia says Ukraine is not playing fair, attacking them when they so graciously left them alone and will relaunch attack once regrouped...
Or at this stage starting to use chemical or nuclear weapons even. Putin having chaos in his bunker and being somewhat secluded from what's happening might be a loose cannon.

Well Bin Laden tried to cause as many civilian caualties as possible in its attacks and so does Russia in Ukraine with its random shelling of buildings.
Therefor we can conclude that both have a strategy of terror.
Conclusion both are terrorists.

You are likely to see both as freedom fighters.

Not really surprising with the level of propaganda going on in Russia. We have the best example right here in this thread.
Going out of their way to paint USA and EU as evil and calling UA nazi state and how poor Russia is being attacked and provoked. They have been zombified to think everyone is against them. We already see this in russian (and non-russian) people in neighboring countries of russia that get the propaganda channels. They all have irrational hatred towards anything remotely "western"

And of course sanctions and support for UA is turned against poor russian people and how they are being subjected to russophobia of west.. They are being fed so many lies they dont even realize its a war and even if UA was full blown nazi state, this unprovoked attack was in no way justified.

PS. And this in no way means I support what USA has done in wars or in ways of propaganda. so don't even waste time typing your whatabaoutism (not directed at AmanoTC, but in general). But the level of propaganda , it's content and consequences of speaking against it is radically different to what's going on in Russia. So of course there is propaganda on both sides (you are not some special genius for pointing that out), but the cultures and accessibility to information affect how propaganda is perceived.

Right now according to Russian Field organization the percent of people refusing to participate sometimes reaches 97%.
Here is the link to the study of reasons why (in russian) https://russianfield.com/strashnievoprosy

At a time when you can get sentenced just for calling a war a war you won't get accurate poll numbers in Russia.

That's a great point. When you live in a free country, you tend to forget that polls rely on freedom of speech for results.
And I don't even trust polls from "free countries" because there are a number of psychological and sociological factors that are non quantifiable that are completely ignored, not to mention question manipulation to get to a specific result...

Are they the same people who give 98% approval to Putin?
Polls in countries ruled by dictators are notoriously unreliable.
Say you live in a country where you can actually be arrested just for disagreeing with your government, you get an email or a phone call from someone presenting themselves as "an independent polling institute" assuring you the results are "anonymous and confidential", and they ask you if you agree with your dictator in chief... what are the odds you're going to disagree?

I would think it's pretty much like in the polls... the only ones speaking out are the ones in favor of the war.
Much like Trump supporters believed they were the majority before the 2020 elections because they were non stop posting about it 24/7

If 80% of Russians really support it, I feel for the remaining 20%. Regardless I don't really care as long as this madness stops.

omg never believe Russian statistics. they fake election results here, they put you in jail for the opposite opinion, there is no freedom of speech, and you write about some kind of poll. I agree that a lot of people really support the war, there is a very strong propaganda in Russia. but it only works for dumb people. if you are told that there are only Putin lovers around you, then of course you will feel lonely. this is one of the psychological techniques against liberals
moreover, LEVADA CENTER is known for its fake polls. this is already to some extent a meme that 80% of the population loves Putin. take any poll for any years and there will most likely be about 80

I've been asked by Q09066930 to duplicate my message here. So, there you go.

"I do understand your reaction, but as a political scientist I'd like to correct you in some moments.

First of all, Levada Center is part of a so-called "Bolshaya troyka" - 3 main sociological research organizations. Two of these organizations - FOM and VTsIOM - are state-owned institutions. Levada is de jure independent, but in fact it is controlled by the Kremlin, just like all "opposition parties" in State Duma. Therefore, I would be wary of data coming from Levada. I mean, just look at how they frame their questions. They ask people whether they support the actions of the Russian troops in Ukraine or not. But the thing is, if you answer no, then this is considered a crime under the laws of Russia. That's why many of those who don't support war don't participate in polls or don't answer such questions. This was confirmed by many REALLY independent politicians who conducted their own polls (f.e. Navalny and his team, Maxim Katz). According to Katz, out of the 31,000 people who participated in his survey, 29,000 refused to answer.

Secondly, I would like to point out that sociology doesn't work during the war. The aggressive side (in this case, Russia) uses formative sociology. Its goal is not to find out the truth, but to manage public opinion. Simply put, it's a propaganda tool which aims to form the necessary ideas and perceptions among the population.

Once again, I do not want to say that Russia and the russians are not to blame. I just wanted to show that the situation is more ambiguous and that we can't know for sure if ordinary russians support this war".

That's the best April's fools joke I read today. Not to mention the most ironic one because you do believe the BBC is fabricating news as the UK is taking sides but we are supposed to believe the Russian media when they are actually in a country that is a "side" of the conflict?

The obituaries of all these VDV 331st regiment soldiers are publicly available on Russian social media and news sites. This BBC report is largely based on these obituaries and comments under them so I don't know what your point is. I think with your comments you are disrespecting these Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine.

Ukraine has been at war for 8 years, the defense of Russia is not an invasion.

That's funny because all the military action happens inside the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine. (Same goes for the 2014 events.) It"s a textbook example of an invasion.

Decided to do a little recap from my side as well - Sorry OP and others for opening and feeding another discussion with Fin7...

Not confirmable so don't take it as absolute truth, but allegedly Gerasimov (not the dead one of course) has promised putin that they will relocate forces to Kharkiv and east part of Donbas and is vouching his position that they will win with approximately 5000 losses on their side. No confirmation whether putin has accepted this or this talk has even taken place, but this is circulating around. IMO might contradict a bit with assumption putin is not aware of the actual losses, but things change all the time. There are also talks about giving Mariupol another strike to try to stop UA forces there.

So KRemlin trolls dont scream wEsTeRn PrOpAgAnDa at me - here is a look from both sides - Arestovych is claiming russia doesn't have backup forces to replenish their UA attacking forces. Info from russias side speaks differently - might be around 20-30 battalions at russias disposable still. Also in the night there have been reports that in BY there are about 50 units moving in to the border with S300 systems.
Basically peace talks are a fad and russians will most likely continue to bomb whatever they can. But at least the falling back of russian forces has allowed UA to strengthen their lines as well.

Now the interesting part - the fuel depot in russia. UA is taking an interesting position. They are not playing any Ghost of Kyiev propaganda, but neither confirming nor denying their involvement, but just stating that russia is responsible for finding out what happened there. There has also been reports of something blowing up in Kursk (but havent seen anything specific relating to that). That is near the border as well.
As for the fuel depot - why it's interesting - basically trolls and Kremlin are of course blaming UA for flying in and blowing it up - BUUT according to the trolls and kremlin all of the airforce of UA has been destroyed. Also that means UA was able to fly in within Russias airspace without being identified AND were able to fly away without being identified. If UA did that, it shows how weak russia really is military wise, but that surely seems overly too fishy. It smells more and more like false flag operation. But if UA truly where able to attack Russias soil it just shows how weakened the military is on RU side. Either way it shows more and more vulnerabilities in the RU propaganda AND military.

According to west (so of course take it with a grain of salt) the situation in putins bunker has escalated. putin is getting paranoid and is searching for western spies who have leaked information about his UA plans to the west. MI6 is considering that trust between putin and his generals is quickly deteriorating. Shoigu and putin is presumably are having their own cold war between them. So this can either end very badly for putin or this might be an incentive to actually deal with this diplomatically instead of ways of war. Of course this is a guessing game as people dont know what is actually going on in the putlers bunker, so you can stop right now and dont scream western propaganda. This is just what is being analyzed and predicted by MI6 and other military/political establishments around the world. At least we dont get jailed or poisoned for speaking against it.

As far as I am aware that might be propaganda as well. You have absolutely zero proof any of the videos you have posted are real. As a matter of fact most of what you post here actually is known propaganda so sorry for my skepticism regarding anything you post.

Even USA officially recognized Azov Battalion as terrorists and neo-Nazis back in 2015

Did I say they don't exist ? Russia is peddling lies that UA is controlled by nazis. which is absolute bullshit. But of course I'm wrong :) How foolish of me

As for propaganda - staging a video is as easy as coming up with propaganda article. Russians (and in no lesser extent USA) are overly too good with false flag operations. Just do some shit - claim to the locals how it was the evil UA nazis and film the reaction. If Azov is enough for Russia to start war then I do believe Wagner group is good enough reason to drop a nuke on Kremlin heh ? Or do you have double standards and think putler can have nazis in his personal guard but has to destroy a whole country based on one unit in UA ?

PS. Kadyrov ? The same asswipe who has constantly staged photos of being in the middle of action while actually being somewhere away from front lines ? Hes an absolute shitstain and you can't drop lower then taking anything he posts as truth.

for me, this was the most idiotic news in recent times (although does it happen otherwise?). you destroyed all aviation and 2 helicopters flew to you across half of Ukraine and no one noticed? yes, it sounds very convincing
in theory, there are several options here - hiding corruption, fake propaganda, a reason for mobilization (and now it's also the spring conscription, but we remember that there are no conscripts in Ukraine, right?) or was it really an attack, which indicates the total failure of the Russian army

All in all three scenarios :

  1. UA did it, which pokes wholes in RUS propaganda and shows the weakening of RUS military
  2. False flag operation, which as you point out might be good enough reason to sway russian people opinion on UA and actually start mobilization (which I didnt want to point out in my initial comment as I find it a bit far fetched, but I suppose it is still a possibility). Just see Fin7 .... all he needs is a message from putin how evil UA nazis are attacking russian soil and I don't doubt russian people would support the war even more
  3. Russians are actually sabotaging their own equipment (this is less likely, but could prove to be tragic to RUS)

IMO it's most likely false flag to rile up russian people even more. but just my guess.. who knows

The problem with your interpretation is that Russia invaded Crimea before the referendum so even by your own point of view it was a violation of the Budapest Memorandum and other treaties. Also basically nobody except Russia considers it a legitimite democratic referendum.

Ukraine has not existed since 2014, its president is in Russia.

There have been several more or less democratic elections in Ukraine since 2014 and the international community acknowledges the current govt as legitimite.

Over the years if there is one thing I learnt about Russia is that they are a bunch a massive hypocrites. Whatever they blame other are doing is what they are doing themselves.

"Ukraine killing of peaceful Russian citizens, biological weapons, development of nuclear weapons, torture of prisoners, placement of military equipment near residential buildings, killing your own civilians, invasion of the territory of Russia."

There are reports about conscripts being sent to Ukraine though. These are 18-19-year-old boys that are both not intelligent enough to enter a university to avoid army, and come from poor families that can't afford a bribe to save them for army. They haven't chosen to kill or be killed, and after what's been done to civilians in Bucha I'm not sure that surrender will always be an option for them. My point is, I doubt that you actually wish death to these kids.

Seven evacuation corridors are expected to open in Ukraine on Saturday
(excerpt)

Seven evacuation corridors along key routes are expected to open in Ukraine on Saturday, according to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
Announcing the corridors in a Facebook post Saturday, Vereshchuk said the list includes the route from the besieged southern city of Mariupol to the government-held city of Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine.

Yeah, who would want to do that. Funny how they didn't flee in those 8 years. The 'very chance of being killed' bit is also quite 'funny'. They are fleeing now because the Russian army is bombing their homes. I really hope that you get paid well to spread this 'version of the truth'.

Interesting. Following your own logic, the following territories have been 'given' to Russia throughout different time periods and thus must be returned:
Kaliningrad to Germany;
Karelia to Finland;
Kuril Islands to Japan;
Abkhazia to Georgia;
etc, etc

Correct?

And while we are on it, double check who started brutally killing people in Odessa. You'd be surprised.

Russians shelling evacuation convoys in Luhansk, according to regional official
(excerpt)

The head of the Luhansk region military administration said 2,700 civilians had evacuated from the region on Saturday, but Russian forces had shelled people evacuating from towns that have seen heavy fighting.

"It is impossible to negotiate with the 'Orcs,'" Serhiy Haidai said. "The Russians are deliberately hitting during the evacuations. There were incoming shells near the meeting places. Fortunately, everybody is alive."

The convoy of seven buses was accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and had been held up Monday in Manhush, a Russian-held town to the west of Mariupol, Vereshchuk said.

"Despite the promises of their leadership, the (Russian) occupying forces do not allow anyone to go to Mariupol," Vereshchuk said in a statement on Telegram.

‘Embarrassing’: Russia scrambles to copy banned social media platforms | Social media | The Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2022/mar/30/russia-banned-social-media-platforms-rossgram

It appears that Russia is creating a "Russiagram" instead of an "Instagram" since it can now ignore copyrights outside of Russia. The creation process is simple.
It uses copy and paste and hacking.

...Is my space translator out of order?┐(´Θ`)┌
In any case, it seems that those "similar sites" are quietly being replaced in Russia in place of the legitimate sites.

Problem is, they are trying to copy MASSIVE services, and that just doesn't work like copy and paste. The amount of coding needed is astounding, and it warms my heart to see how they are trying their best to steal, but still fail.

Not just coding, they need A LOT of HEPCs for such services, especially video hosting. They are already experiencing severe shortages of them, and since any further export of them to Russia is banned, well, good luck working that around.

From one point of view I'd say it's actually more beneficial to have state funded social media sites for putins regime. It's a lot easier to pump propaganda. So let's say russiagram is being started using as alternative, it's even more easier to flood it with propaganda and fuel Russian citizens up without having contradictory information they have to deal with. In this scenario actually banning FB and instagram is worse because we literally fuel the spreading of lies within Russia which goes against what we want - for people to realize what putin is doing.

From other point of view if Russia actually doesnt care about it, it's just another way for wannabe businessman to pump out stolen alternatives to make some quick buck and then abandon the project. So we'll see bunch of these in the near future - but not for the benefit of getting a service to russians... only for some fuckwit to scam money out of investors or to sell subscriptions to first time users and then jump the ship.

PS. just like that idiotic freedom phone USA made so you get the view from another perspective. It used Trump being the president and decided to use the situation to scam people out of 500 dollars for a 100 dollar phone. Mostly everything on their site is a lie - it's a basic android phone with all of the basic functions. They are holding on it longer then expected but that is so obviously a scam and once it wont generate money from idiots it will be abandoned and the owner will jump to the next fad.

European leaders condemn images from Bucha and call for investigation of Russian military

(excerpt)

"Their indiscriminate attacks against innocent civilians during Russia’s illegal and unjustified invasion of Ukraine must be investigated as war crimes," Truss added. "

Other European leaders have also called for the Russian military's actions in Bucha to be investigated:

"Appalled by reports of unspeakable horrors in areas from which Russia is withdrawing. “An independent investigation is urgently needed," Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission tweeted on Sunday. “Perpetrators of war crimes will be held accountable.”

Battle of Bucha - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Bucha

I am looking at this Wikipedia for reference.
It may be a battleground in an editing war.
So please keep it as a reference for finding primary sources.

I am not a native Russian or Ukrainian speaker.ヾノ・Θ・)🌏?
At least I understand what you said about the video being shot in front of City Hall on March 31.

For the most part, it is a common sight in this war that the "mayor" makes a speech in "front of the city hall" to appeal for recapture.

It seems that there are many decisions not to take pictures of places that are not cleanly visible, as it may lead to the evacuees' worried and unreasonable behavior of returning from their evacuation sites.
(If your neighborhood was a burnt-out field, you would be worried about your home and would want to rush home, wouldn't you?)

[NSFW]
In places where Russian soldiers have recently retreated, it has been reported that landmines have been planted on the bodies.
In such cases, you would think that it would be easy to disarm the mines with a mine detector, but it seems that a great deal of effort is often expended just to safely enter and leave a few hundred meters of the area, since the corpses can be used as weights to set other traps.
It would be impossible to set up in such a place in a few days.
The events that happened in Ukraine can be traced with the events that happened in "Syria"....
Syria: The story of the conflict - BBC News
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-26116868
The creation of evacuation corridors and attacks on them was also the modus operandi at Syria.

You can also find articles in this discussion that caution against those practices.
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/Gn71JNj
Of course, it is important to proceed with the investigation by international organizations.
During wartime, people sometimes quit people.
Whoever the culprits are, whether Russian or Ukrainian soldiers, mercenaries or volunteer soldiers, will be brought to justice.
There seems to be a growing Ukrainian anti-war movement in Moscow these days.
There seems to be a lot of anger from people who have relatives in the war zone, or who have been killed in the war and have no guarantees (the state claims they died in the exercises and cannot receive them).

I have seen many things that should not be put into words that cannot be put on the SG.

This "DISCUSSION" itself has been around since before the war started.
During the course of the war, "Russia" became unsettled and "evacuation information" was also received "just before the war started".
You are free to deny it or affirm it, but check what everyone has been posting from the beginning.
Some are posted by Russians, some by Ukrainians, some by people from other countries, some by aliens.
After looking at those, you will find what you want to know more about.

But, I have to do it. Otherwise, it will be extremely disgraceful if there is not even one single game developer in China that is doing the right thing. Hmm..
This is a much more sophisticated censorship than the commonly known Russian one.
I sometimes hear stories that in the case of China, such control is exercised when installing apps designated by the government.
Even some game development apps and financial apps are in such a state.
To top it all off, they have even gone so far as to put a means of information leakage into the firmware.
This is true not only for the domestic Chinese market, but also for the international market.

Perhaps it is possible to bypass it by using a VPN tool that is not "known" to the Chinese government.
Conversely, China is a country where you can't use a VPN if you mention the existence of such a VPN.

For this reason, there have been cases in the past where international students have installed VPN servers in their dormitories in other countries and made them available only to those concerned.
By extension, malware that uses the browser add-ons of an unspecified number of people as P2P nodes and VPN stepping stones was generated by Chinese users for a while.
I do not know of any such thing left now?
If I were Chinese, I would consult someone with such overseas contacts.
Well, this is a bit of a departure from the discussion, but it is difficult in many ways.
The non-censorship movement is a good one in my opinion.

Yes, it's a highly developed system that makes Russian censorship like a joke.
Meanwhile, in addition to the technical aspects of the censorship system. The government and social media have a lot of censorship officers to manually check everything people post. Each social media also has a different level of tolerance. For example, Bilibili basically just deletes everything I post there while many of my posts on Zhihu still exist as long as I quote from an external source so that all the information the government hates is technically not stored on their servers.

Thus, when encountering heavy censorship, I first post all the information somewhere like a Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/khTDGBrB
And then, link the Zhihu post to this Pastebin address: https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/492863930

Meanwhile, I can also put information in my game's update logs to smuggle it into China.
I have been running this secret information warfare since Feb.24 :)

👀Hmm...interesting

I see...I guess whatever you post will disappear if it is not good for China and Russia?
That is what you seem to be like at this point.
After translating and looking at the Chinese a bit, it seems that the Bucha case is listed at the top of the list of stories that are conspiracies with no dead bodies in the picture.
(posted by someone who is not you, of course)

In fact, some broadcasters continued to play the video with the dead body in the picture....
But I am not attaching that because SG's terms and conditions would make angry if I attached those links.

Thus, only the strings needed for the search.
[NSFW]
"Russian Retreat Leaves Trail Of Dead Ukrainian Civilians in Bucha - YouTube”
MSNBC 4.86M subscribe
You will find it by searching with this.

There are a few other broadcasters who have done the same thing, but I recommend against it because it is detrimental to the sanity of the people who see it.

Wait until you get a confirmation from a neutral international organization.
The fact of the invasion and the bombardment of the displaced people will not be shaken as a fact.
However, when it comes to detailed confirmation of the facts, there are some matters that are hard to say.
In wartime, such things are often obscured if the war is prolonged.
The fact that the Russian elite in Ukrainian uniforms attacked in the early stages of the war, that the plan was to take Ukraine in 48 hours, and that Russian news outlets were set up to publish victory reports on the web to coincide with these events, all make it difficult for the public to understand what happened. There was also an incident where those were mistakenly published.

Those verifications are of course not possible here.
It is important to know the primary source of verification, so please keep that in mind.

As a reminder, it is a good idea to follow the laws of your area, protect your mental health, and pursue the facts to the extent that you do not engage in illegal activities.👓
Basically, do not consider this "discussion" as a primary source.d(・Θ・。)

I also have my lawyer license in China. (Mostly because I wanted to make the nation better a few years ago.)
There is no law that forbids speaking against Russia. The censorship is mostly some under-the-table rules.
The government does not even dare to acknowledge the Great Firewall. Because the Great Firewall is against their promise made when joining the WTO about 20 years ago.
According to the beautiful constitution of China, people shall have the freedom of speech. :)

If I only mention Russia while avoiding mentioning China, most of my posts survive on Zhihu. (Bilibili still just kills everything.)
However, I just found it today that it seems everything about Bucha is something the government of China really does not want people to know.
Thus, I'm using Pastebin to bypass the censorship.

I am quoting from the discussion here in some of my posts mostly because SG is still not entirely blocked by the Great Firewall in China, people can come here to see the discussion even though they are not able to visit Youtube, most of the foreign media websites, Twitter, and Google.

People who have forgotten their past have no right to the future. (Plato)
"The people who do not know their past have no future" (Mikhail Lomonosov)
These statements are given in order to show the importance of history. In 1923, the troops of France and Belgium entered the territory of the Ruhr region. After that, the occupation of the lands began. All they offered was to arrange a strike, but there was nothing to pay the workers, and the migrants had to live somewhere. After that, the printing press was launched.

It's not like this would change anything after all. Putin wanted the war and it will go on as long as he wants it.

Just don't forget to note that this went to the re-export of goods with high added value. Mi-8 helicopter and instrument panel in French. It is not really needed in Russia, but it will go well for export. I know for sure, since the panel was ordered specifically for this, I also had to change the GOST on the panel, and then there was only Russian and English.

I was expecting to see Spain here and I wasn't dissappointed.
France and Germany have great military industries too.

The real surprise here (although I had already read it elsewhere) is that Ukraine was also selling weapons to Russia.after 2014.
If I'm correct, in order to sell weapons to other country there must be a licence from the exporting country so Ukraine should know they were providing military equipment to Russia.
