Well if it is the only game to make you cry, and it makes you oversensitive, then I must be an emotional mess because of how many games made me cry :'(

Fear is an emotion that can move you to tears, right?
If so, I have some suggestions.

In that case, try Tie Fighter. Now there's a game which makes me feel all kinds of strange emotions I don't usually expect from a game.
As a Star wars man yourself, I highly recommend it.

That's stupid. Confront him about it, and play it with him. It's a great thriller game.

Mother 3 made me cry a bit too much. BUT IT'S SO DAMN SAD.

Knights of the Old Republic II. The tears hit for me about four hours before the end, but the whole thing has an air of melancholy and the theme is pretty much everything you've ever done is cause senseless death and pain.

As weird as this sounds, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 singe player. Not even joking. You'll end up playing through the game for the characters' sake rather than the story and gameplay. Not really a sad ending, but there's a death in there. (Out of 259825938 dead Russians)

The closest thing to an emotional push Doom 3 gave to me was when martianbuddy was sending me prized lock numbers.

I felt Metro 2033 to be very moving to me at least. It just feels so sad, and it plays great.

Beyond Good and Evil.
NON Steam game: Lunar 1 & 2.

It was good. the Sega/Mega CD version was better, in my opinion.

Deus Ex HR. I had no tears but it moved me for several days

yeah, spec ops is really not the standard type of shooter, you do something and after you did it you ask yourself why the hell you did it even if you had a better way of doing it. Also it shows the problematic of war, not just the partiotic shit from CoD.

Taken that it has been months since the release and people still talk about it nonstop, I don't think it's that mediocre.

a trick? i don't think you understood the game, the goal isn't to make it to the end the fastest so that you can find out plot twists, its to be told a story as you explore an incredibly beautiful place. please elaborate on this trickery

The trick: it pretends to have a good story and pretends to be engaging and pretends to have a mystery to solve, but it never delivers on any of these things. Instead, the player makes it to the ending with a dull story, no mystery, and no engagement. It doesn't even have gameplay (which, I admit, I wasn't much disappointed by, because I wasn't expecting it.) It's a slideshow with narration.
Also, the plot was very predictable. My friend and I both predicted the ending very early.
You're right about one thing though: it's pretty. I personally don't like the textures, but it's nice to look at overall.

did you play the original mod? you are not meant to figure anything out, you are not meant to solve a mystery. if you predicted the ending then i guess i can understand your disappointment but like i said, its not meant to trick you into believing you are in control because you're not, hence why it is narrated to you, even tho you are the main character. not a trick, just different.

I know you're not meant to figure anything out or to solve a mystery. That's exactly what I said. I think you're wrong about it not being meant to trick you into believing you are control - it actually gives you controls (WASD) as if it was a game, but it's more of slideshow with narration. I'd much rather watch a movie or play a game than "experience" Esther.

If one wants to take this literally then Dreamfall: The Longest Journey the closest thing to a game that could make me cry. It's very depressing and sad in parts. An excellent game too, if not quite up to it's predecessor.
If you just want a wonderful emotionally involving story then Planescape Torment is a terrific option.

I want to be near tears at the end, I want to be moved in a way that only something with a compelling story can do. I'm tired of games like CoD being nothing but action, any suggestions?
LoZ feel type of game would be wonderful.
