Think you can do it?
Please take playtime with a grain of salt, I was idling for cards, I can assure you I haven't played them (note the achievements)

Don't have a lot of free time this month (or the next two months in fact :P), but I like the idea so I'm giving it a shot :)

Nice idea, but I have a question. I started Blasphemous and WH40K: Mechanicus on March 3rd. Will beating them count towards the challenge? I really don't want to put them (especially Mechanicus, it's great!) away for a month just to participate.

I know about the Humble Monthly/Choice since just a few months ago, so I don't know every game that was included during the past 5 years. Is there any site where I can check that?
And do I have to post the 6 games that I plan to play here before playing it or I can be selecting them on the moment?

Outlast 2 beaten (I liked more this one than the first one...).

The Flame in the Flood beaten. Actually a pretty good and underrated game. It is a shame that there is not coop mode tho.

Great challenge, thumbs up!
But I don't want GreedFall))

Interesting challenge, maybe I'll go for it :)
I found barter.vg HB list to be the best place to find games for this, If you sign up and sync you will see on the list whether the game is in your library.

I love this, just the motivation I needed to make a dent in these games. Here are my choices:
Spyro: Reignited Trilogy November 2019
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy November 2019
Sonic Mania October 2019
Minit April 2019
Pool Panic June 2019
Graveyard Keeper January 2020

Good idea.
I'm in the process of going through my entire library and installing games one by one to test them on her laptop.
So far it's a lot of point and click (time to finish that Monkey Island saga!), pixel graphics, FMV and time management games; Oh and also the South Park games which, unsurprisingly run smoothly too.
But it's cool too and I'll get to play those FMV games like Her Story I've been meaning to play forever but always got distracted by shinier newer games.
Recently had a lot of fun with A Short Hike. Who said it has to be AAA all the time, right?
Comment has been collapsed.
I love indie games, there's so many little unknown gem. Sometime it's great to play a shorter game, something you can finish in an evening.
I recently started A Short Hike too not yet finished but it's a lot of fun you're right, very relaxing:)

Interesting idea really :)
Honestly don't think I have a total of 6 still non-played games that have been featured on monthly.
Good luck to all

Great idea. I was considering doing something like this myself.
Just to clarify, you're just doing a single giveaway, correct, not giving a copy of Greedfall to everyone who completes the challenge? :P
Spiders games I find really frustrating, good luck to the person who wins
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, only doing a single giveaway. Last I check, I ain't made of money unfortunately ;-;.

Nice idea. Let's see how this works out.
The only problem I can see is that it encourages to play short games and/or rush them(which by itself is probably against the idea of the event if I got your intentions correctly), practically disqualifying entries with those 40+ or 60+ hours long titles. I also assume that it's not about finding a way how to kill the final boss within XX minutes(or whatever else action is required depending on the genre) as it's not a speedrun contest.
Assuming a reasonable value of ~2h per day*30 days a month /6 titles it makes sense to target ~10 hour long games. Obviously that's just an estimated average. People with more time to spend have most likely already played most of the titles they're interested in. For people with less time it's an even stricter limit.
You might want to think of it as you mentioned that you plan to continue this "event" for some time. I would say that social responsibility requires to find some way to prevent this event form encouraging people to play multiple hours a day just to pass a "challenge", especially in later iterations when the pool of qualifying titles is lower*. I know that it's everyone's responsibility to think for themselves and nobody is forced to participate, but it's the internet and sometimes even obvious jokes can be taken way too seriously, especially if they can also be considered challenges. Maybe beating games with a total HLTB time over some value would be a safer requirement for upcoming iterations
*I know that with choice there will be at least 10+ tiles every month, but some may be multiplayer only and usually at least 1-2 titles are either very long or endless games
Ps What's the preferred way to document entries. For games with achievements it's quite obvious, but what about other titles? I've seen the screenshot requirement, but a single screenshot doesn't prove that the game was played from the beginning to the end within a month. A clarification now may save you a lot of time later verifying the entries.
Thanks for reminding me to finally get back to 11-11 which I was postponing for way too long.
As for participation itself I will need to have a look at my library to check what other untouched games I have. I may get back to the topic once I do that.
Edit:
Game | Status | Comment |
---|---|---|
11-11 | Beaten | I'll need to get back to it. For some reason it freezes a lot, so even beating the game was hard when I had to replay multiple stages twice or thrice |
Hidden Folks | Completed | Missing DLC achievements |
A Short Hike | Beaten | Wasn't that short, but certainly a great game. I'll need to revisit it for a few sidequests |
Orwell | Beaten | More a variation on the book than a real adaptation, but still a great game |
Silence | Beaten | Completionist's nightmare. Barely over half achievements after a single playthrough. Game was nice, but personally I think it was missing something. I was hoping for more with so many awards, but I liked Syberia, Broken Sword and Monkey Island series much more and could probably add a few more to the list |
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter | Completed | While the gameplay is sometimes rough the story is quite good. Some decisions were hard to make, but as a consolation prize I got to beat an aristocrat by 7 to 0 in lawn bowls ;) |

I'm really sad. At least it will be free on Epic soon but still :/

Yes I know it is called Humble Choice now but it is a shitty name so I'll ignore it.
Hello hello and welcome all to the madness.
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: GreedFall
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for nearly five years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on April 3rd when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time. It may be hard to believe, but I don't live here. I live at my real life job since it seems like I never leave that place :/.
Good luck and have fun.
Thanks for reading, here's a cookie.
.
If you are wondering why you don't see a private giveaway running on my profile, my purchase was flagged for manual review on Gamersgate ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I'll make one the moment they realize I'm not evil. All good now :D.List of eligible games: https://barter.vg/bundles/3/3/
