I have a huge list from before I got a job that I am working through.
So far I have ticked off the Total wars, Portal, Lugaru, Skyrim, the mount and blades and Crusader Kings II. I put over 30 hours into my pirated CKII, and 150 into M&B warband. Still bought them because they were worth it, even though I haven't even downloaded M&B yet.

edit - forgot Minecraft

Just Minecraft. I thought it looked really stupid, but everyone said that it was great (this was back in September of 2010). Tried it out, and bought it right after the Halloween Update came out.

A lot...Trying to start buying some now, but only multiplayer focused ones, not wasting $110 on a game I finish in ~8h.

So many hours spent on pirated CS 1.6, also many other games which don't have demos and I wanted to try myself before buying.

First pirated Civ 5 then bought it soon after for the full 50 dollars. Age of Empires 3 I pirated.. then bought this summer sale. I haven't even touched it since I bought it but I felt I owed it for the hours of entertainment it brought me years ago to at least buy it now. Fallout 3 I pirated first to see if I'd like it.. loved it so I bought it.

Any game that I had played before coming to Steam. Which isn't really that many because I didn't even know of the existence of a lot of the games I currently have...
Off the top of my head: Half-Life 2 and episodes, Portal 1 and 2, Orcs Must Die!, Serious Sam 2, Alien Shooter, Supreme Commander 2, Worms Blast, King's Bounty: Armored Princess and so on... actually that's a lot more than I expected. ^_^

A significant percentage of my Steam library consist of such games. And an even more significant percentage of my wishlist.

I haven't pirated anything since the first great steam sale of 2009. I have too many legit games now that I haven't played yet to bother pirating anything.

yeah, that's true... if i never pirated a game, i probalby wouldn't get interest in videogames, and never would register in steam, and finally, never would buy a game.

Pretty every game in my library was pirated at some point before I bought it on Steam (yes including TF2). The only ones that werent are the indie games from Humble Bundle and F1 2010. A lot of the games were also gifts that I have won. If it wasnt for piracy I wouldve never experienced half the awesome games. I loved them so much that I ended up buying them. Im a reformed pirate :) Lol

I'll add some more information to each game for fun. Time between pirating and buying and price. Maybe that'll (<--- why is this word showing up as misspelled...?) make it more interesting than just a list of games. Maybe add reason too.

Minecraft (Demo. bought within two weeks I think beta price)
Frozen Synapse (Demo. Within a week I think. $25, though I went if 50/50 with someone else since it comes with two copies).
The Witcher 2 (Wanted to know if it ran, so I guess demo. $30 quite a bit later, though I didn't go past the tutorial until after purchasing)
Braid (Heard a lot about it, wanted to try it so demo. Ended up getting it in a humble bundle. Didn't really care for it all that much)
Super Meat Boy (same as Braid)
Eufloria. (Same as Braid)
Faster than Light. (Watched videos of it, looked good, wanted to ensure I'd enjoy it so demo. I think $9. It was the release day so whatever release price was)

Then some weird scenarios.
Eschalon Book 1&2, AI War Fleet Command, and Avadon the Black Fortress. With these games I had tried the demo and was pretty sure I wanted them, but went ahead and pirated them out of irrational fear that I may forget about them and then remember them sometime down the road and they would be unavailable then. I blame that they aren't really well known indies for that (Well maybe Avadon is well known). Anyway, $3.75 and $5 for the Eschalon games. Got AI War for free as a result of not having access to a debit card due to either the PSN hack or Bank of America trying to charge for debit cards and paypal transfers taking more than a day, some nice guy on GOG.com gifted me it, I did end up buying the base game +expansions back for $7.50 and hosting a giveaway though, after I got a new card. Avadon, traded a game I got from the steam holiday thingy for it.

Might have forgotten some.

Am I in before "Piracy is always immoral no matter the circumstance!!!"? (actually scrolling down...I am not.)
