Buying this year's jingle jam?
This has to be a joke....
Everyday you are hoping for something better, everyday they put you on the ground and make you smell the shite they are giving away.

I hate it! I did giveaways for most of the first games so I didn't really care what they were, but I realized that I wasn't really feeling the "advent calendar" aspect of it (cause making GAs is kind of a bother and made it just much less exciting to wait for every reveal every day), so I thought from that point on I was just going to activate every game I got and it wouldn't be that bad, just one small treat per day is nice. But while I'm willing to give any game they might give me a try and see if I enjoy it and if not, oh well, I'm not about to start playing some MMO just so I can try some cosmetic stuff they gave me for it.
I can't use the codes, it'd be really hard to trade them and most of the time I can't even make GAs for them. Completely useless. They might as well have had no reveal for today.

Yup, I already contacted a Humble support about 650$ changing to 500$ on their reddit. Response was as follows:
"
More than half of the games for Yogscast Jingle Jam 2016 are not yet released. The value of the bundle is based on what Humble Bundle thinks the bundle is worth of and we are not actually charging you $650 in order to get the games.
If you are not happy with this purchase, I can arrange a refund for it.
"
So yeah, with that in mind, you can refund it, Humble support is the best I've ever seen. First of all, that response came within an hour after I sent a ticket and all the previous times I've been helped to solve the problems with keys, if for example, key was already redeemed or my gift link used by bot. So I trust them. ^_^

And they also said there'd be 650$ worth of stuff before changing it to 500$, and they were also hyping up the "Only X amount of bundles left!" ALL the way until they got 50,000 and then SUDDENLY they realized they'll actually have more to giveaway.
I get that it's for charity, but that doesn't make these practices any less unethical. In fact, the fact that they are using such unethical techniques to sell it kind of takes away from the charity aspect. Hard to feel good about taking part in a charity event when it's so shadily run.

Humble has never changed it from $650 to $500. There was a post on the Yogscast subreddit that said the RRP would be over $500. $650 is over $500. I get it that everyone is itching to grab their pitchforks and join in the witch hunt, but the bundle was never "changed" to $500.
Comment has been collapsed.
True, but usually when something is valued at over 650$ you do not say "over 500$" as that implies its price is close to 500$. I would say that it's a good sign that the humble page still says 650$ but considering everything else they've done, I'm more likely to believe it's just an extra bit of misleading.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, they just said that "they think it's worth 650$" so basically if I think my favourite game is worth a million bucks, I can write it's a 1.000.000$ bundle in my opinion. ;p
With all those priceless dlcs that they are giving for games, it can actually be worth well over a billion bucks. xD

i am still waiting for Woodle Tree Adventure, and the smash hit Absconding Zatwor.
Worst of all, is that this bundle will be running while the Steam xmas sale is in full force...

Guys come on, its well known this bundle is for the charity rather than the games, its Christmas stop being so angry. Everyone who bought this has contributed $30 to a really good cause so that maybe someone can enjoy Christmas just as much as you are going to! :) That's a wonderful thing for you guys to do!
Think of the positives of how much you've contributed to someones happiness rather than the negative of receiving only 2-3 really good value games. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Mm, you know, you're definitely right. I think I got so caught up in the expectation of 1 game/day that I kind of forgot why I bought the bundle in the first place. I've donated to some causes I truly believed in, and no amount of cosmetic DLC can take that away from me :)
Comment has been collapsed.
+1 So much hate and complaints in this thread... The bundle is obviously made for charity and people are complaining so much. Imo if you bought the bundle (as did I) you know it's for charity and everything you get is bonus, for those who still complain that it's not only about charity -> you bought the wrong bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
Out of that 30$ you gave them 15$ will go for their salaries, 10$ will go for the game developers, 5$ will end up being sent to charity corporation, which will spend 2,5$ of it to pay for their employees and then someone will steal 1,5$ from the remaining pot. 1$ will be sent to that kid with cancer, who will be happy about it. So yeah, screw that Yogscam.
I rather send that money straight to the charity I want to help and focus on buying game bundles from Humble. :p
Comment has been collapsed.
That's a really negative way of looking at things, so long as it means how I've read it, so please read to the end in case I've misunderstood!
I did some aid work as a younger lad, I went to schools and gave pens and books etc to kids who thought all their dreams had come true. A pack of like 24 HB pencils at the time were 50p or so. So for £1 I could have made 48 children happy, not only that, where I went a lot of schooling depended on having the equipment. So if you had a pen and a book to write in, you could go to school. £1, gave 48 kids the chance of an education.
People have to pay employees unfortunately and developers have to be paid in kind too. Whatever the amount, whatever it is, the more you spend the more that gets to the people that need it. The £2.5 in wages for the charity, keeps the charity in business, its still going to the charity.
I get your point, but its Christmas, c'mon lets not bash a charity gaming bundle because of "weak" games.
I do agree with the sentiment of direct giving but donating £1 as "thats how much they'll get anyway" isn't true at all, but if you are saying donate £30 directly, that Sir, is definitely an admirable thing to do and I applaud you!
Comment has been collapsed.
Hey, yeah I mean, I'm donating 20€ to Finnish Red Cross and 20€ to People with Physical Disabilities Organization monthly and don't expect anything in return, just because I want to help them. Also I donate blood twice a year, and unluckily my blood type is A+, so it's not very demanded, but I still like to help.
However, when it comes to HumbleBundle, Yogscast or any other kind of network, I just seek for a good deal for myself (as selfish as it sound) because I rather donate the money straight to those who distribute the help, than go through different networks, who all take their shares.
And respect for you to have worked as aid. 😌

AFAIK every humble bundle is a charity purchase, that i personally do almost every week.
I think it is pretty legit to have well funded expectations about the games included in one of these bundles, and get angry or happy if the games included are in line with each one's tastes. It is not against the joy of participating with a good cause.
I personally have paid 28$ for games, not to feel better, but to play during Xmas.
No matter the cause, i will still feel ripped off if the games included on a blind bet bundle are pretty much scraps, and at the end of the day, my 28$ have the same value as everyone else's, even if others don't feel it is fair to complain, because it is for charity.
By the way, the sketchy promotion of the bundle is not particularly a charity 'move'.
Comment has been collapsed.
My point is 99% of bundles are charity focussed but thats not the main focus. This bundle is known to be predominantly charity based, you should go in with the opinion that I'm giving to charity and getting some games as a reward. Usually its a case of im buying good games and charity is the reward.
Also 11 of the games so far have been previously unbundled, they're not really scraps, you might not like them or value them but scraps is a diservice.
All in all, I just wanted to remind people that charity is why you got this, if you wanted good games spend $28 on 4/5 better paying bundles. Don't feel bad that you didn't get perceived good games, feel good you donated to a worthy cause.

Not my case, sadly.
I bought the bundle because of the promotional promises: '650$ of awesome stuff', 'Redeem on Steam' and '50+ games', and the thrill of having a game each day during Xmas.
I still count 7 unbundled games, not 11. And yeah, a VR-only game, a freebie, 3 non-steam cosmetic DLCs, and several 6-8 times bundled games are pretty much scraps...
Of course, it is just my opinion, and I thank you for sharing your positive perspective on all this, but i won't take the blame for a pretty dubious promo...
cheers

To play devil's advocate, we are only about 1/3 of the way through and (1) there have been 7 unbundled games (on pace for ~20), (2) we are less than 1/3 of the way through the $650 RRP advertised (i.e. perhaps there are some bigger ticket items remaining), and (3) there are still 40 games left to be revealed (based on the Yogscast saying there were 50+ games after the initial 6 were revealed).
I share the frustration; since Toy Odyssey the selections have been lackluster. I think there is reason for optimism though, especially since last year's bundle finished strong with Rust.

Support charity. Choose where the money goes between six charities: Mental Health Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Whale and Dolphin Conservation, Special Effect, GamesAid, and ILGA (via the Tides Foundation). Plus, if you'd like, support another charity of your choice via the Paypal Giving Fund.
I mean I don't see how I need to prove that but there you go, the onus is on you to prove that is incorrect.
Comment has been collapsed.
Calm down mate, I've got to give them the benefit of the doubt, there's no proof at all they aren't going to give the money to charity. I'll take them at face value and believe they are going to give the money to charity.
Occams razor, the simplest explanation is usually the right one, in this instance the simplest explanation is that Yogscast are going to give the money to charity whilst keeping a portion for their own wages, give money to devs etc. I'm afraid that's how all charity events work, very rarely does someone work entirely for free and for the benefit of charity. You'll never see 100% of your money go directly to a charity, I'm not sure if that's what you mean or not? Maybe you have misunderstood how your money is going to be used?
You are of course, entitled to your opinion, but I'd urge you to reconsider and think about it logically, what you are suggesting would require a lot of co-operation and is a highly risky venture for them all to take. Especially seeing as the charities I mentioned above would get £0 and have the risk of protecting Yogscast as they siphoned the funds.
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand you are disappointed with the bundle and even angry at it, but some of what you are saying is perhaps in the heat of the moment.
For example, as has been stated by others, the bundle isn't over....it's not even half way....there is plenty of time for them to deliver on $650 worth of games. As for a game every day, well I think that's down the marketing, DLC is technically a game(but I agree its a shady practice to call it a game) but if you are trying to sell bundles, you up-sell it as much as you can. A game that has been free before, is still a game. I just think its perhaps not what you'd want.
As I've mentioned above, your conspiracy theory regarding them stealing the money, I really doubt that's true, I'm sure charities see a decent portion of money from this event. I can't claim to know who Yogscast are really, or the event "yogs adventures" you are referring to. I just know what this event is and the previous ones they've held as I've read about them on the forum.
My overall point remains the same, don't feel bad about not getting the games you want from the bundle, feel good you helped out a worthwhile cause! :) Also, its Christmas so that's something else to smile about!

This is not a transaction or a purchase. This is a donation. You are donating to charity and are receiving some random things in return out of the kindness of developer's hearts.
You are not entitled to anything. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. It's not the Yogs' fault that you have poor decision making skills if you decided to buy something you didn't know the contents of without knowing you'd like it or not.
i am personally going to abandon the discussion about the bundle for a while, because i am getting pretty pissed with each unlock, haha
take care, and good luck to everyone

So far I've been happy with donating to charity and treating any games as a bonus - but that is the kind of thing that could just about start to annoy me.
"You are donating to charity and are receiving some random things in return out of the kindness of developer's hearts." No, I'm pretty sure I donated to charity but was still promised $650 of stuff. I didn't expect all of it to be great - but previously free games and obscure VR only games and bullshit content for FTP games instead of games could start to wear thin...
"It's not the Yogs' fault that you have poor decision making skills if you decided to buy something." Yeah, that isn't making me feel great,,,
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know - but certainly various claims have turned out to be crap. 'New games every day' has turned out to be games or maybe some junk for FTP games instead. 'We are only selling about 50,000 of these bundles' and '$650 of value' appear to be becoming questionable...
I still don't mind the charity donation and I wouldn't ask for a refund. But I feel the integrity of Yogscast is becoming an issue.

I haven't had any interest in this bundle; if I want to donate to charity, I'll do it directly, not through here to get a bunch of games I don't want (though there appear to be a few good ones). But i haven't had any reason to comment until now. This caught my eye:
"It's not the Yogs' fault that you have poor decision making skills if you decided to buy something you didn't know the contents of without knowing you'd like it or not."
...So you are literally saying that if you buy their bundle, you have poor decision making skills. You are saying you KNOW their bundle is garbage and people who buy it are poor decision makers. That is one of the worst things a business could EVER post or appear to endorse. Also, if you are going against promises you made, why would your consumers believe the money really is making it to charity? You have to stick to what you said the bundle would be, and insulting your customers is beyond terrible.
Geez. Glad I didn't give these people any money. I'll hit up charities on my own, thank you very much. <3

Sorry, but don't take out only a part of their comments, treat it as a whole whole.
This is not a transaction or a purchase. This is a donation. You are donating to charity and are receiving some random things in return out of the kindness of developer's hearts.
You are not entitled to anything.
It's about buying and then complaining / asking for a refund, they are not talking to everyone who bought it (and happy with it)
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't see how that changes things. They're entitled to what they spent their money on. If the bundle isn't delivering what it promised, then that's an issue. From what I've read that they promised and what people are getting, they're not delivering what they said they would.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not protecting them, as I also feel that there are way too many statements around the bundle that's cloudy so they can twist it towards their good, but on that they are correct. Yes, people are entitled to whatever they want to spend their money on, but still - paying for a bundle they don't know the content then complaining about is just pointless.
Also now after some sleeping I found out what was my problem with your comment:
You are saying you KNOW their bundle is garbage and people who buy it are poor decision makers. ou are saying you KNOW their bundle is garbage and people who buy it are poor decision makers. That is one of the worst things a business could EVER post or appear to endorse.
The whole comment of strscrm7 you referred to starts with "I'm just a subreddit mod, not part of the Yogscast." It's like a mod would complain about a HB in Millew's topic, they are unreleated to the bundle and it's creators, so there's nothing in picking on them about their own personal opinion.
Comment has been collapsed.
Whew, people are really mad about something they dropped $30 on. The DLC only day wasn't great, but there have been some great games on here thus far and it's there's so many more days to go.
As someone pointed out the reddit thread said "Over $500 worth of games" not equal to $500, but even if it did, WAH I'M ONLY GETTING $500 WORTH OF STUFF FOR $30. Really guys?
Keep that Christmas spirit up!
Comment has been collapsed.
I still have my hopes up though. A bad day indeed, but I think there will be some good unlocks this week or the next to justify the $500 promise the bundle offers.
In any case, I'll refrain from using the keys. If things really go this way from now on, I'll ask for a refund on the bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
The amount of freaking out here and on reddit is pretty hysterical. We are 1/3 of the way through the bundle. We are less than 1/3 of the way through the advertised RRP. There are approximately 40 games left. Everyone needs to calm down and let this one ride out before jumping to conclusions.
The trade market has been pretty decent for this bundle as well, especially since almost half the games so far have never been bundled before. I'm still convinced there will be at least one or two higher tier reveals late in the bundle (a la Rust at the end of last year's Jingle Jam), and if they keep up the pace of never before bundled games I'll be very happy with my donation.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's not the reason people are complaining. They're complaining because they've lied. First they said it would contain 650$ worth of games, now "only" 500$ (pretty sure they also said it would contain 65+ games and now 50+). They also said it would include New GAMES everyday but they also added a DLC. Not to mention they said there would only be 50000 bundles (thus making people buy it as fast as they want) and now there will likely be more bundles.
Comment has been collapsed.
They switched the initial games with a lot of garbage. It's natural they have more than 50000 copies available from each one now.

While I'm not impressed about the discrepancy in the true RRP, I hardly see the point of getting up in arms a third of the way through. It is very likely there will be strong titles revealed towards the end of the bundle, around Christmas and New Years.

It looks crappy as hell. One of the worst bundles ever for the price tag. I wonder where the heck is the "$650 worth of awesome stuff". Also, I don't care about the charity aspect. They're advertising it as a bundle and promise you over $650 worth of games in return while clearly giving you "priceless" junk. Bait and switch strategy and scammy as hell. I sure hope the money gets to the designated charities in the end.
