Applying, for what's a New Year's event without tomatoes!

+1. Tomatoes are great. You can eat them or throw them. Very versatile.

Have you heard about this new hip thing? It's called "tomato planting", extremely fun, all the young people do this!
The main idea is that you have to "plant" tomatoes in your friend's/aquaintance's/random stranger's backpack/handbag in a way that he/she would not notice untill he/she opens the said bag for different reason.
Imagine the surprise when this person finds some unexpected tomato goodness!

Oh wow, that's a surprise for me.
Moonshining was always illegal in here, yet people in less urban settlements always practiced this sort of thing, you know how it is.

same here - and noone really chased after them unless they were trying to sell it - but on ocassions ppl were getting caught by accident - for example police visits you on not-related thing and notice it - they have to react etc. Or some bad neighbour giving them anonymous call etc.
now you can make any homemade alcohol as long as it's for personal use and not for sale - and if you sale - well then it's still a crime, because you're not paying these high alcohol taxes, so you're commiting a tax fraud and they will prosecute you based on that.
I myself don't destilate as I live in block of flats and moonshinigh can be kinda smelly - but I'm making my own 40-50% fruit tinctures using moonshine my uncle makes and this year started experimenting with apple wine I set up for fermentation in my basement :>

Let me mend your stereotypes - I do looove potatoes! xD
I don't do alcohol, but that does not stand in the way of appreciating a fine product. I mainly don't do alcohol because I don't enjoy it, and I prefer to enjoy stuff I consume and activities I participate in ^_^

at least that - love em potatoes as well! :D:
but sure - whatever suites you ;) It's not like I met thousands of Belarussians in my life - maybe a few dozens, maybe a hundred or so - these were all drinking, but I guess the same may go to poles - stereotypically every pole drinks as well, stereotypically vodka preferablly (thou I hate clean vodka myself ;p), yet I know a few poles, my mom included, who don't drink at all. But I know much more poles than belarusians, so it's probably because of it :>

To hell with this topic, let's talk some more! xD
How do you know so many belarussians while being polish? :)
Comment has been collapsed.
two ways ;)
1st - there's this biggest Open Air rock music festival in Poland called Przystanek Woodstock - years ago, like 7-8 years years ago, me and my friends set up our tents near the camp of ppl who came there from Terespol (it's the border city - on Belarussian side it's Brest). There were also quite a few belarusians with them. Long story short we befriended each other and since then we always set up our camps together - and quite a few belarusians visited our festival with Terespol peeps since then ;3
And another reason - I as well as my fiancee were studying at Politechnika Wrocławska (Wrocław University of Technology). Generally quite a few people from eastern countries, mainly Belarus and Ukraine come to study in Poland. Some come as exchange students but also a lot of people in these countries has polish ancestors and due to that has double citizenship (polish and belarussian/ukrainian). According to polish law every polish citizen is allowed free public university level education. And % of eastern students at Politechnika Wrocławska are especially high compared to rest of the country (I had only 5-6 on my year, but my roommate was studying Electronics and it's especially popular with easteners - he had like over 30 people from Ukraine and Belarus studying with him, then my fiancee was studying Electronics and Telecomunication - also popular with them - and also had like 20+ ppl). Not to mention additional fact that Belarussian students in Wroclaw are known for them smuggling cheap cigarettes to resell among Wroclaw students for profit - and as I used to be a chain smoker I met several of them as well buying cheap cigs from them in student's dormitories :>

Well yeah, lots of youngsters here tend to aim at EU for education, and music festivals are always a good reason to travel abroad, especially if it's not that far.
While the most popular direction here is Lithuania (a lot of people there speak russian), lots of our people still do have polish ancestry, especially in the western parts of the country. I personally know a couple of folks who did get their polish citizenship this way.
Smiled at the cigarette smuggling story, that's so typical for our people xD
I myself have never been to Poland yet, but would love to go there one day. I do think Polish are not so different from Belarussians, keeping in mind long lasted blood relations and close geografical disposition.

Last of these topics I remember seeing was before the trading.
And even with trading, its been quiet recently, so only got about NZ$180. Still enough for a give or several.

You're a Mega Trader now (or whatever the terminology was). That's the equivalent to a drug kingpin in Columbia. Your days in the poor house are over. Just try not to get killed by the Russians. Those turf wars are nasty.

Lots of people trying to out-do each other with giving away the largest number of the most-popular games. We had something like 600 titles reserved in the first 12 hours, last time. P

Update 9th February
Our new record is now set to 1711 unique giveaways and over 1840 gifts sent. We didn't even need to have a consolation round since everyone had decent wins. This was probably our best event so far!
Update 29th November
We broke our previous record of 1k giveaways and now have 1028 unique giveaway reservations and 4 weeks to go untill the end of the event!
Update 28th November
Teasing for those interested in future events, we already have over 590 unique giveaway reservations. 500 of them were reserved in less than an hour which sets another record of the highest rate of reservations in any of our past events.
Created 18th November
Hello again community!
Some of you may already know what this thread is for, so if you do please skip the introduction part, but read the rest:
Group Introduction
First of all you should know that this is not a new group, it was first created during Chrismas 2012 and since then we've had six successful events:
The group's stats page can give you a glimpse of that success.
So it is obvious by the repetition pattern, that we operate close and during big Steam Sales. The goal of this group is to gather a certain amount of members that will create unique quality giveaways and share them with the rest. The tricky part is that ALL of those giveaways will end at exactly the same time, regardless of the time zone.
For that to work there are some rules to follow:
It's simpler than it looks, the hardest part is for me to organize and make sure people follow the rules.
For those that need more details, you should check on the group's profile here.
Also take a look at our FAQ.
How to enter the group
What you should also know
What's the group's timeline
(read this if you get to be a member of this group)
Few last words
Our last event had 60 members and 1017 unique giveaways (average of 17 giveaways per member, which means also an average of 17 wins per member). Everyone won something, but still the unluckiest seven got 1 extra game from their wishlist as "compensation" on behalf of many of our members who donated the amount needed. Everything went smoothly and I will do my best for things to go well again.
tl;dr
This group is not for you
