I never got scammed or have big problems myself... when i read the posts here from some people with zero background knowledge then i can just lough... no bad feelings but it's funny...

steamtrades is a fucking mess...

mods cannot beat common sense. and if you dont have common sense no ammount of mods or whatever will prevent you from being scammed.

if people would use common sense you'll be OK.. If you're new to steamgifts, don't try to trade full priced AAA games and you won't get scammed.. Build up a reputation as a fair and honest person with bundles.. Then if you really want to move into AAA, it gives you far more leverage and trust to ensure you aren't scammed..

Trade for stuff people aren't likely to scam you with.. Trading cards, refs, keys.. Never use Paypal as too many ways exist to get scammed..

Using common sense. and walking away from deals that seem too good to be true is likely the best medicine you can use.. I have over 1k rep on steamgifts, I've been part of two bad deals.. The first was when a game selling site had a pricing error, I traded for one of the copies of the game and the company revoked all the mispriced games.. The trader refunded me the one key I paid..

The next was for a copy of Xenonauts when it was part of a Humble Bundle a few years back, i traded someone for it, and that game was revoked, they did the same thing to multiple people so they pretty much ruined their reputation all for a few games

Use common sense, and be honest..

I used to use it but I moved on to better trading sites. Steamtrades has been abandoned for a while. I suggest other trading sites like barter and Lestrades (which is much better then Barter but has less people). I get a lot of trade offers on those and haven't been scammed yet.

SteamTrades is not perfect but not that bad either. In my opinion if you want to 'stand up' as you said, you don't need to be this aggressive, you should point out the things CG needs to change and what you think the site should do.

Well, since the moment they put steamtrades into a new domain, they stopped caring about it. You can literally post ANYTHING there and they won't give a damn. :P I like that I can gather +rep there and that I can open some trade posts whenever I have some spare keys, but it has too many disadvantages. Steamtrades is a paradise for scammers, trolls, impersonators, toxic people, etc.

I prefer barter but have no problems with steamtrades.

Also the reputation system isn't so good like everyone told... many gets -rep without some serious reasons, because everyone can vote and everyone can vote without reading and just click on the Accept button... also many new traders who even don't know for what is it... At the terms of the site says that someone can give you a negative reputation after a try of scam and trade related reasons...but for example i have 2 for non trade related(for some bull*its, one of them, because don't want to trade with the person, other because don't want to do a paypal or something like that), the third one, because got scammed and give the guy -rep(revenged rep from him) and the new one that its really funny - guy who added me after 8 months and told that my key is duplicate , its same kind funny, but its serious too...

I mean, it's bad behavior, right? And should be moderated? So, you'll accept a (theoretical) suspension for swearing in this thread?
