If the steam activation says “duplicate code” then on steamgifts put “not received” on your Won Giveaways page.

Most people leave a comment in the comments section of the giveaway. When you do that, the creator of the giveaway receives a notice that he or she has a new "reply." This works on ANY of that user's giveaways, so you can also leave a comment on one of his or her old giveaways if needed.
In the meantime, you can mark the giveaway "not received" as the key was not valid. This will probably get the attention of the creator of the giveaway, and it is hoped that he or she will contact you. "Feedback" can be changed up until a certain point in time, so you can switch it to "received" if the creator solves the issue.
Remember: Do not mark a gift "received" unless and until the promised game is in your Steam library. Marking it "received" means that you have added it to your library, and Support will hold you accountable for it.

out of curiosity, how long does a 'not received' stay changeable until it's locked in? i know the 'received' ones are something like a week, but i have a 'not received' back from august that i can still change.

thanks for the info. pretty neat that the option to correct a botched giveaway remains open indefinitely.

As for the "received" feedback, I cannot remember, and that information is not available with a cursory search. I seem to remember it being limited to a matter of weeks, but that is just a guess.
Regarding the "not received" feedback, I believe there have been changes to that, so I have no longer have any idea. JadeNic says he is able to change the feedback on a giveaway from eight years ago, but I can neither verify nor negate the accuracy of his statement.
I will see if I can find an answer from someone in Support.

Can confirm that any "Not Received" can be changed as I have an undelivered win giveaway from ~7 years ago with that option. "Received" feedback is locked after 30 days, if you try to change any feedback after that point you'll get a pop-up stating this and to contact support if a change is needed.

Not Received can be changed to Received at any time. Not Received can't be selected till seven days after the giveaway has ended and once selected is locked in after 30 days at which point it can only be changed by support.
