He can't.
But Steam can, if he bought the gift with fraudulent card.

yes (Edit because of the no's before: He can revoke it if bought with cc fraud or if he does a chargeback, steam will then either remove the item from your inventory, or, if activated, from your library)
trading outside of the steam trading window always is a risk. That's why steamtrades has this rep system. Trust is the currency of the internet.

The rep system on steamtrades is kinda useless though. Rep is oftentimes given for trades that involve little to no risk (trading solely in the trading window), and 95% of the comments are useless shit like "+rep, good trader" etc., linking neither the respectable thread, nor explicitly stating what has been exchanged

Don't trade if he has no feedback. Or fake feedback like, on his steam profile.

Its your key vs his gift.
You probably have to sent the key 1st, after which you have to trust him.
(Scammers reaction will be: it does not work. The scammer probably activated it on a different account)
Even if he sends you the game it can be revoked by Steam because you dont know where it came from.
Thats why I recommend to trade with people who have a lot of rep, and even then you have to be cautious.
ANd no offense but Payday 2 is more valuable than Sniper Elite V2 whatever version

Payday 2 has much higher demand than Sniper Elite. This is not a trade I would ever take either. If you still decide to, don't be too disappointed when the other guy blocks you after you paste the CD key in or claims the key doesn't work. Also keep in mind that both steamrep and steam itself do not investigate key scams, so there is no outlet for reports if it turns out to be a scam.

This trade looks dodgier than a nineteen dollar note...
I wouldn't touch this with my worst enemy's bargepole.

if he's gifting it, yes it can be revoked.
if he's giving it to you through the trade window, it shouldn't be revoked, but if it is, Steam will not reimburse you, since the trade was not done entirely throug
h the trade window
trading with keys for gifts or gifts for keys is always risky and discouraged by Steam

If you trade through the trade window and your new game will be revoken you can ask support to revert that trade and get your items back. But if I recall correctly it's not applicable for gifting, both sides have to exchange some stuff (game gifts or items).

yes, i think it's safer that way..
though there is also the chance that he could later accuse you of scamming him, as he would have inventory history he could show of giving an item and receiving nothing in return.
yeah, it's frustrating, but this is another reason why it's not recommended to trade CD keys..
but if it must be done, i personally would go with the trade window instead of gifting.
if he's an honest trader, everything should be fine
