Can anyone even vote in this poll? Don't feel bad, I can't either. Oh well. Bet you thought I was giving one away. Heh, no.(Poll Requires Games to Vote)
I only craft badges for games I've liked. I've got a bunch of backgrounds and emotes that came with those badges, but I don't want to turn them into gems. I have a few gems though. One sale I got 3 or 4 foil cards and was able to sell them for $1-2, and I used some of that to buy cards for a few games I liked to complete their badges. When you buy things, any resulting items from it are (or were) unmarketable and untradeable for 2 weeks, so my only option was to turn those sale cards into gems before they went poof.

I have a mountain of backgrounds and smileys, had to move them out since they were just making my inventory slow needlessly. Never use them. I guess it would have been smart to sell them years ago, but at this point eh... Not going to be worth enough to bother, and they aren't hurting anything... :)
Seems nowadays the sale cards last for a full month after the sale ends, so people don't get screwed. Well, if they buy sale cards they are getting screwed, but it's voluntary... :)
Thank you! :)

I had fun playinig it, it's fairly easy game on hardest difficulty level, interesting mechanics but would be boring after longer time; killed archdemon in about 10 hours looks like it's still a lot new things to do after "finishing" the game.
I try to install games if I have spare disk space because I tend to forget about games I have and it helps finding them later ;)

Thank you, that's usually what I try to do but my space is running low, and I really don't feel like buying some more 10TB drives just now... I'll feel obligated to fill them up, and then I'm right back where I started, but with more crap in my computer...
Maybe it's different if people have all their Steam games on a ssd (too much $$$ for me sadly) but it seems that the more games I have installed, the longer Steam takes to get running... :( Guess it's doing something, maybe finding updates to download? Whatever it is, it takes a long time... :(

I can vote! :D
If you are interested in 007, it shouldn't be too hard to find. The retail copies came with Steam keys and there should still be a few floating around in dollar stores or thrift stores.
Personally, I used to dump my unmarketable cards on bots. Steam badges never appealed to me that much and gemming cards when they are only worth 2-5 seems pointless to me.
Thanks for the gibs and have a Happy New Year.

Hmmmm, wouldn't expect any copies floating around dollar stores to have unused Steam keys, but I guess you never know... Might be something to explore... :)
I suppose people who sell all their cards instantly have the best results, since all these crappy games take time to be removed from the store... Oh well. Guess it's too late now... :)
Thank you too, hope yours is fun! :)

Oh I forgot to mention it but this tool might be a nice help too with knowing all about your items;
https://steam.tools/itemvalue
For example it showcases for me you got a trading card worth $10 on the market right now, with 6 others worth more than $3.
https://steam.tools/cards/
Which allows sorting by games owned which I find very useful to see which boosters craft well or just show your badge levels without loading dozens of Steam pages and similar useful functions.

Thank you, hmm, taking a look...
Yes, I remember trying that item value thing years ago, but could never take its numbers seriously. :) I assume it's good for items that actually sell, umm, I dunno, maybe csgo stuff? Hats? But for obscure trading cards it's a bit optimistic... :)
I mean, if people were buying a specific card for $10 all day long, then it's worth $10 by definition. But if some dreamer puts up his lone trading card at $10, and it just sits there, not selling, it's not worth $10. :)
Just looked at my stash of smileys and backgrounds, and that calculator thinks they are worth $4000 total - which is just silly. :) Checking what people are actually willing to pay for some of them I'd be lucky to get $400 for the whole pile. :) So I dunno. :)
I find the cards listing thing to be more useful, at least when it's working. :) I used it to find a bunch of cards I didn't need because I already had the "Level 5" badge, so I could just sell them. Woohoo! Three cents, here I come! :)
Thank you! :)

Hmmmm, never heard of that place before, looks like quite the collection of removed and probably-should-be-removed games available... :) Reminds me of otaku/gogo bundle for some reason... :) Probably they all buy the same bulk garbage... :)
Thank you! :)

You can sell a sack of gems (1000gems) on the market
Profitz
Comment has been collapsed.
Ehh, look at how much money you get for selling a sack of gems currently... :) And most removed game cards don't give a lot of gems...
So it's profitz, but it's tiny, tiny profitz... :) Hardly worth the trouble clicking on the stuff... :)
Thank you! :)

It's not worth to make gems. It's better to get whole set and make a badge from the cards.

I agree, making gems from non-foil trading cards is almost always a mistake. :) If they can be sold, even 1 cent is more than the value of the gems you'd get. But removed game cards are so annoying - you can't even get that one cent. :(
So I keep my surplus removed game trading cards just in case. You never know when they will come in handy with vanillabot or something... Spoiler: NEVER. :(
But I've tried making some booster packs for the ones where I still can make badges, and got some foil cards that would be worth a moderate amount of gems - haven't decided what to do with them yet. Guess they will just sit there forever... :)
Thank you! :)

I think getting exp, even if it's a little with having some (unselabble) background and emoticons is better than getting few gems that would give You nothing until You have really really big amount of cards... I believe it was 1000 gems for some basic booster pack... and it's maybe 0,50$ if You are lucky (and usually it's less...)... so getting exp and items is, IMO better deal. Exp mostly gives You nothing much, but it's still more rewarding. Every 10 levels You have new element for Your profile + also it gives You higher chance for getting booster pack. Some people would probably trade unsellable cards for another unsellable card. Cause if the complete pack has the same amount of cards (for getting badge etc), You both get the same. So it's worth trading. If badge requires 8 cards, it's good to trade with people who need different cards with 8 to complete. You both can get a badge for the same amount of cards that way. But it's not fair trading card from a set that need 6 cards to get a badge with set that needs 8. So basically You trade sets with the same amount of cards needed and both sides are happy for getting a cards for their set :)
Also I never got unsellable foil, so I don't know how much worth they are... I wouldn't know what to do with them xD

I'm too lazy to figure out the booster pack formula, but it's related to the number of cards in the badge, and maybe other stuff too? If all other things are equal, a booster pack for a 5 card badge seems to cost 2x a booster pack for a 10 card badge.
Think I already have too many Steam levels... And it's a complete waste of money making more badges but for some reason I keep doing it...
Interesting idea to find trades for those cards, number of cards in a badge seems fair, but I wonder... Some removed games were given out like candy, like Digital Homicide ones for example... But some were never in a bundle, never given away for free, and have very few owners. Not sure if people care about that stuff... :)
Trading is so annoying... I just want a friendly bot with clear rules, no haggling or profitz, just an equal exchange and we can both be happy. :) Probably a bit optimistic though... :)
I will take a look at some unmarketable foil cards, see what the gem value is. Maybe useles info, but who knows? :)
Hentai Puzzle foil card - 5 cards in badge, worth 40 gems.
Lands Of Devastation foil card - 5 cards in badge, worth 40 gems.
Tankr foil card - 5 cards in badge, worth 320 gems.
The Onion Knights - Definitive Edition foil card - 5 cards in badge, worth 40 gems.
Turret Terminator foil card - 5 cards in badge, worth 40 gems.
Descent: Underground foil card - 6 cards in badge, worth 260 gems.
TRANSFORMERS: Devastation foil card - 7 cards in badge, worth 220 gems.
Zula foil card - 8 cards in badge, worth 250 gems.
Doctor Who: The Adventure Games foil card - 9 cards in badge, worth 130 gems.
Tyrfing Cycle foil card - 9 cards in badge, worth 20 gems.
Guardians of Ember foil card - 10 cards in badge, worth 200 gems.
World of Fishing foil card - 10 cards in badge, worth 200 gems.
Fist of Jesus foil card - 11 cards in badge, worth 10 gems.
MTB Downhill Simulator foil card - 14 cards in badge, worth 110 gems.
I think the gem value of a card is related to the number of people eligible for a random booster pack for that game, as a new "real game" foil card is worth more gems than an old bundle game that 100000 bots have idled. Oh well...

Hmmm, interesting with those cards and gems values...
I just have 25 lvl, so I could get more.

My "strategy" is that I sell all the cards that are 5 cents or higher, and keep the 2-3-4 cent ones and turn them into badges using steam card exchange. I have dumped some of the unsaleable ones off onto Pro-Z in exchange for games, or one of the various "level up" bots services or whatever...
Comment has been collapsed.
Ahh, I only use steamcardexchange as a 1:1 trading bot, probably missing out on something here... Oh well... :)
Hmm, Pro-Z? I don't know what that is, might have to take a look as I have a huge pile of removed game cards and booster packs I can't use for anything.
Thank you for the info! :)

Sigh... :)
Aha, I was playing Metal Gear 5 recently and heard that song coming out of somewhere, thought that was hilarious... :) It's pretty funny to hear all those random 80s songs again, I kept hoping for the Smiths but no luck. Oh well...
Thank you! :)

Aha, seems you are right... :)
And I think there's a browser addon that automatically tells you about giveaway links on a page, and who knows maybe it even clicks on them too... Never underestimate the power of greed, I guess... :)
Thank you! :)

Try your luck with one of the many bots listed at https://asf.justarchi.net/STM - you should be able to find matches for a lot of the most commonly owned games. Not everything, but better than nothing... :)
Thank you! :)

Oh, hey, you are right, and the Steam sale ended too... So I don't need to care about stinking badges for another six months... :) Maybe I will spend my last few gems on some removed game booster packs, or maybe I will just say screw it... :)
Thank you! :)

There probably is one, somewhere. I just don't know where. :(
I checked my inventory for cards with "This item can no longer be bought or sold on the Community Market." but that missed all the games I didn't have cards for. So I tried checking all my badges one a time, but I have way too many so I got bored and quit.
Don't remember where I stopped, and it doesn't matter since I used up all my gems anyway. :) Oh well. :)
Thank you, hope you have a good one also! :)

Completely irrelevant removed game mystery edit:
Hey, anyone know what's up with the game "ABRAMS TANK"? No store page (as usual for a removed game) but no community at https://steamcommunity.com/app/518160 either? And the badge page https://steamcommunity.com/my/gamecards/518160 says "Invalid game" - but real invalid games redirect you to your main badge at https://steamcommunity.com/my/badges/ ... For some reason I could make a booster pack at https://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/boostercreator/#518160 - but if I can't make the badge there's not much point... Weird stuff...
Original thing:
You know, with all the Winter Sale madness going on I was looking at my pile of trading cards, trying to find some cheap ones for badges... And, of course, I noticed a lot of This item can no longer be bought or sold on the Community Market. cards... Sigh.
Can't sell them. Can't buy the missing cards to make badges with them. They are going to clog up my Steam inventory forever. :(
But then I had something. An idea! You can still make booster packs for those games. Just need to open a Sack of Gems...
Well, I've got oodles of those, been grinding up worthless foil cards or surplus sale smileys for years... I kept waiting for a repeat of that magical Steam auction, you know, the one from... 2014? Wow, was it really that long ago? spoiler: The Auction Is Never Coming Back
So, as a public service to all the badge junkies / gem accumulators, let me mention: you can actually get rid of that crap! You don't need to keep all those half-a-badge's worth of Digital Homicide cards! Make some booster packs, and say goodbye to that junk!
Hmm.
You know, thinking about it a bit more, there is a problem with this plan. Instead of being stuck with a bunch of unmarketable trading cards, after making all those badges you'll be stuck with a bunch of unmarketable backgrounds and smileys instead.
Maybe this idea needs a bit of work. Never mind!
You know, If I were clever, down here at the bottom of all these words I'd hide a giveaway for some fancy removed game. But I already gave away all my fancy removed games. Oops.
And nobody plays those things anyway. I mean, they were probably removed for a reason. Stalin vs. Martians? Umm... Break Into Zatwor? Umm... All you'd do is pat yourself on the back for a precious and rare removed game +1, but they don't even count for a +1 any more. So screw that.
Well, after typing all this nonsense I've got to make a giveaway for something. Otherwise nobody's going to bother writing anything. I'll have to bump this stupid thing myself, and I don't feel like it. Umm...
Maybe a giveaway for something that's not removed yet? Maybe Steam will turn to crap and all these indie developers will bail. Hmm... 70% of something, or 88% of nothing...
Ok, checked my wishlist. Found some random indie stuff. Typed enough random garbage to chase away the lazy greedy people.
You can go about your business. Move along, move along.
Would you kindly...
