I am sorry that so much hope is tied to the results of the presidentially election. Thank you for speaking up to let us know how you feel. It is good and wise to let others know anytime you feel despair so that they can encourage you. I commend you for doing that. While I'm sure many around our country resonate with what you are feeling, remember that election results, whether favorably or unfavorably for your preferred candidate, are not forever.
I know not everyone believes the same as I do, but I have hope not in who sits in the oval office. My hope is in God who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, and who gives food to the hungry. This is a hope that cannot be taken away no matter what trials and suffering may come.
Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. So it will be with Trump. So it will also be with Harris, Stein, and Oliver. All confidence should be cast before the Lord who rules and reigns over all things.
(In case it matters to you, I did not vote for Trump.)
And to those who are pleased with the results, do not be deceived. All kingdoms of earth will fade. Only Jesus reigns forever and ever.

Happy cakeday 🎂
Perhaps you can try reverse psychology to take your mind off the result. e.g. reading a book like "How To Rig An Election" to commiserate with many other morale-sapping places one can be in the world. Why stop at worrying about one's own country when you can worry about multiple other countries and contemplate how the world in general fares these days. Sad times.
Hope you feel better soon - it's four years (or shorter IF) which is peanuts compared to your 10 years on SG 🍰

As the wise Solomon once said, and then repeated by Abraham Lincoln and Edward Fitzgerald: "This too shall pass" (c). Just remember that the darkest night is always followed by dawn. Sorry if I quoted this phrase incorrectly - English is not my native language.

I know this phrase too :) but I doubt the correct quotation in English "this too shall pass" (c). According to legend, this was the inscription on King Solomon's ring.
