Here is my first experience:

The first time I found SG, I saw all these game titles along with the pictures. I looked around on the home page a bit, and realized that these were giveaways that somebody made. I saw there was many entries in each one. The funny thing this, I thought everyone who enters a giveaway gets a free copy. I was somewhat dissapointed when I didn't win anything... It was about 3 days before I found the FAQ and learned how the site worked.

What was your first experience?

Thought it might be a scam full of fake accounts, to trick people into giving away their real stuff to whomever was running the place. :)

Eventually after ~1000 entries, finally won some ubi store exploit dlc and though oh, maybe it's real. :)

I think that I didn't understand all the technicalities, but I understood the basic concept. I participated in hardware giveaways for years, and was doing my own raffles for games and software on other sites and on my Facebook giveaway page, so the concept wasn't alien. I was happy that I had a new way to give away games which was easy to use and had a large audience, because most of the giveaways I did on my own didn't have many entries.

I remember I first got linked to this site, Xmas time 2011. Looked like a scam site, site asking you to give them games and no promise to receive anything in return.
Then Aug 2012 I was invited into a jigsaw puzzle from a steam chat. Solved the puzzle and a link to "Reign of Conflict" giveaway at SG was the prize...
From there I found out the site was real. SG didn't ask for anything (if you didn't want to).
And the rest is history.

Everything about this site is super obvious, even those with half a grip on English and half a brain should get it(not saying anything about you or anyone specific).

I understood it right away. Probably my biggest ignorance was thinking that I had a chance in hell to win a popular public giveaway that had thousands of entries.

I came here to win Arma II so I could try out the Day Z mod. My guild mate posted a link to some giveaways here for Arma II, so I signed up and hoped to win one. I entered every Arma II giveaway there was for a few weeks. I never won, so I ended up just buying the game when the dev had a sale. I enjoyed Day Z for a while, and I decided to stick around on this site and I ended up winning a dev giveaway for Tryst. I like the concept of this site, so I decided to become a contributor. Not only to give back but also to get into better exclusive giveaways so I had a better chance at winning. Well, almost $1k given away and 10 months later I am still here, and even started my own giveaway group. So thanks to all those before me that made this site what it is, thanks to the MOD's and CG for keeping it all going!

Came back like 7 months later and here I am today!

It's not a particularly complicated concept. I had to look through the FAQ to understand the points system, but other than that it's all very obvious, so I understood it immediately.

I joined... and browsed the forum for like 2 weeks. entered into a couple giveaways.. 2 months later I made a giveaway when there was a steam sale.

Never made fake giveaways. Got tired of one of my giveaways.. had to re-roll like a bazillion times..because eveyrone it would re-roll too already owned the game. lol?

I understood the basic concept immidiatly, I was only very confused about the donation (contributor value) I thought we had to donate money to the site. But I found out quickly.

The website was invite only so it didn't feel that overwhelming considering there weren't as many users. Also, received some kind tips from the person who invited me <3

I actually was able to figure out the main gist since I found the site via a private giveaway link someone posted on a forum I go to. So they explained in the forum post the gist of how it worked and answered any questions we had about signing up. Then I found the FAQ and learned the rest.

was initially skeptical, thinking it was a fishing site. Eventually reading up on how steam's system works. Tried it out, won some games/gave some games away - happy days

I make it my goal in life never to read manuals unless I am well and truly stuck, or something is on fire.

My first action on joining the site was to choose three copies of COD: Black Ops 2 from the clearly labelled "claim your free games here" dropdown menu. It would have been rude to get one for myself without also snagging a couple of copies for my two best buddies at pre-school. To my excitement, people rushed to add their names to the list of those willing to purchase these awesome AAA titles for me. I still don't understand why the 3 selected were so rude, and refused to follow through on their promises. Some people are just dicks.

Also, this site sucks.
