Thought it was a scam, but figured I had nothing to loose. Then, as I started seeing posts like "I'm gifting this via my inventory" and such I realise they were kind people from all over the world gifting the games, mostly from their own pockets, and as I realised that, I made my first giveaway while I waited for my first win :)

lol when i first encountered it i signed up, only to realise that steam thought my account was only worth... $0. it was still 0$ 2 months later. fast forward 5 months and all of a sudden the same games were valued at $200. weird o.o

I didn't think much of the site and was on and off (mainly just spam entered giveaways). I knew that everyone had a fair chance of winning, and I figured the system was based off some kind of raffling type system with the points (I never looked at the FAQ). Just through trial, error, and common sense mainly.

A friend who uses SG referred me here, and when I finally got $100 worth of games (thanks, Humble Bundle!), I checked the FAQ before I did anything. So, yeah, that's my first experience.

I wasn't sure if it was rigged, because I had no way of telling and I never won anything (first win wasn't until over 1000 entries). I was also pleased I had something to do with the game I had a spare copy of, and I decided that if I ever actually won anything I would give that away.

I checked the FAQ and read through a bit of the forum before I ever even considered registering with the site. I don't recall exactly how the site was brought to my attention though

I thought it was a site I could use to give my extra copies away, and indeed it was.
Gave away all my second copies I got due to the golden tater. Then I wanted to give out more games, then I got into groups, and the rest followed.

I heard of SG on another forum, when people were using it as an easy way to get rid of the spare keys from Amazon's Absolutely Great Square Pack (the games were only worth ~$1-$2 each if you sold them on your own at that point). So it was pretty clear to me how it worked before I joined.

Well I knew how it works, but I just wasn't sure if I should trust site or not, like yee free steam games like there ain't any sites doing it. Also, I found out steamgifts like 2-3 months after I started using steam for real, so I didn't know you can use your Steam profile to login to other sites. So I asked few of my friends if they knew about SG and they told me it was legit. After my first win, I started making giveaways.

I think I read a forum on Steam about the site, so I checked it out... little did I know it was down for maintenance (I thought it wasn't available in my region). So I was disappointed the first time I came on here.. The second time I came on here, I was overjoyed with the site, but It was also pretty shitty as it took 3,874 giveaways for me to win, so lots of despair.

I kinda figured the game list on the main page was for the games being given away, but I had no idea what those points were for and how the whole system works. So I looked around for a FAQ and barely found it after a while (IMO it should be moved to someplace more visible, like the top of the page).
BTW I heard about the site on another forum, at first it seemed too good to be true. :)

After 100 entries I already thought im the unluckiest boy alive.

I thought it was fake and passed up an invite code I could've gotten back when it was invite only. :|
Once I figured out it was real, I (gasp!) read the FAQ and poked around the forum until I understood everything properly. So in other words, I made no assumptions at all and didn't do much of anything (not even enter things) until I knew for certain how it worked.

Here is my first experience:
The first time I found SG, I saw all these game titles along with the pictures. I looked around on the home page a bit, and realized that these were giveaways that somebody made. I saw there was many entries in each one. The funny thing this, I thought everyone who enters a giveaway gets a free copy. I was somewhat dissapointed when I didn't win anything... It was about 3 days before I found the FAQ and learned how the site worked.
What was your first experience?
