a) I do, but not right now, since my in-ears are broken and I haven't bought new ones yet ^^
b) As I said, yes...many times, I love those I always buy, but most of them break as yours near the 3.5mm jack.
c) Mostly, but due to moving the phone in the pocket the cables break
d) I would probably, I'd even pay a little bit more for the same ones with a cable thats not breaking ;)

I usually don't buy the most expensive headsets, I should also clarify that I'm using in-ear earphones and they tend to break often. after buying and breaking a high-end expensive set of in-ears, and not getting it on the warranty, I never spend that much money on it anyways. It's mostly for podcasts, so sound quality is not important.

a) Yes.
b) Ear buds started to separate from the jack, which eventually lost audio in left ear bud. Also had earbud speaker separated when trying to have cord hang outside of clothing (Pedestrian got too close and snagged on it as they walked past.
c) I'm very careful with my headphones/earphones. I clean them regularly, and I'm always aware of whether they will be in danger of being snagged/pulled/etc.
d) Yes

c) not really, since i haven't invested in a decent set of earbuds; cans, yes
d) probably, depending on if it's accessible enough for me to purchase. australia's premium prices, yay!

b) Yes, at the Y-split in the cord.
c) Yes
d) if it's convenient and small to carry. I typically already keep them in a pouch though (I use in-ears, they're very small)
From what you describe your product seems very similar to the rubber strain relief that is on most 3.5 mm plugs by default, what's the difference?

Hey guys, (skip near the bottom if you can't be bothered reading and are willing to help!)
I am currently taking 'Design & technology' as one of my subjects at school,
in conjunction with a product i am designing as part of this subject, i would like to conduct a very short survey to gather some basic information in order to further develop a product i am making and how viable it would be
if i were to theoretically release it into the market. It would be very helpful if you were
able to answer these four simple questions with a comment below.
For those who are intersted, I am currently attempting to create a product which limits the movement of the wire which is connecting the 3.5mm jack to the rest of the wire. Why do this? The most common problem both my friend and I share, is that for some reason no matter how much due care we take, with frequent use the earphones wires seem to constantly frey inside. So i will be attempting design a product which basically holds these two components together without damaging either component. But first I need to gather information as to whether making such a product would benefit anyone. Would anyone buy it?
a) Do you use headphones/earphones while taking public transport? If so what type? (bus, train, light rail etc)
b) Have you ever broken your headphones/earphones? If so where did it break?
(example: 'I broke it near the wire which connects to the 3.5mm jack', or 'i broke it near the wire which is connected to the speaker of my earbud' or 'I snapped the wire completely')
c) Do you take good care of your earphones/headphones?
d) Would you purchase invest in a relatively cheap product which could prolong the life of your headphones/earphones?
