Nope, that is not how it works. It works via "Whitelist / Steam group" option and only people who are in the Steam group have access to the giveaways on SG itself. There is no need to do anything manually :)

ah I see, so doing a manual whitelist would be an alternative to forming a steam group, but it seems like the group would be easier, that way if someone doesn't play a game they win they're just booted from the group so they can't participate in future draws.
I like the idea of giving to just this group since it'd be much harder to bot-abuse this and see someone enjoys it. Do we have to make twitch videos showing we play? I haven't figured out how to do a Vtube overlay for my webcam yet

No. If somebody wants to record their gameplay and upload it to YouTube or as a Video on demand to Twitch that's totally cool and could even get them a couple clicks but that's entirely up to them. For group purposes if a game has been sufficiently played is verified via achievements, playtime and screenshots.

I accidentally get playtime I don't want on a game all the time by pausing and alt-tabbing so achievements sound like a good marker. I ought to use screenshots more it seems like part of a good review process. Usually only think of it when I reach a sticking point. I assume these can be pushed to cloud storage on valve servers

Yeah. The default hotkey for screenshots on Steam is F12.
It used to be that when you exit a game and took screenshots the screenshot uploader would automatically plop up but for me that is no longer the case. Now you have to go to the last ''personalized'' tab in the client (the one with Activity, Profile, Friends and so on) and go to Content / Screenshots. On the right side you'll find white buttons to upload and manage screenshots.

You need to set a checkmark in the options so the Screenshot Uploader opens automatically after closing a Game where you made a Screenshot during your session.
The checkmark can be found under...
On the top of the client click on: Steam->Settings / Cloud / The second checkbox need to be checked.
You can also open the Screenshot Uploader manualy any time you want.
On the top of the client click on: View->Screenshots
Hopefully you do not need to handle your Screenshots with the cumbersome method you described above anymore.

It annoyed me to death that the screenshot uploader didn't automatically pop up anymore and I did it the way Sundance described it above since they made the update that removed automatic pop ups. FINALLY I don't have to do it that cumbersome anymore.

It's kind of a longshot but you wouldn't happen to know if there is a way to disable the Friends List from popping up automatically on startup?
I have Settings - Interface: "Select which Steam window appears when the program starts, and when you double-click the Notification Tray icon." set to Store and yet Steam insists on opening up that useless thing everytime it launches 😅

In the top right corner of your friendlist is a gearwheel. Clicking that opens the options for your friend list.
Under the tab Friend List turn "Sign to friends when Steam Client starts" to off.
However doing so does not only prevent the friend list to pop up on start up, you are also offline from it.
If you want to revert it you can open your freind list via:
On the top of the client click on: Friends ->View Friend List (And then you do the opposite from above ;) )
The setting you mentioned is just the start page that is shown in your client.

Yea that checkbox gets a lot of people, surely it could have been done in a better way but Valve does Valve things. Anyways, looks good to me now as does everything else.

I have won a Metro Exodus and received both normal and enhanced edition. I am playing enhanced edition but in the giveaway progress page there is normal version only, so my progress does'nt count. May I present screenshots of my achievements to the gifter?

I can't change which game the website tracks so it will stay on the normal Metro, but you can play the Enhanced Edition no problem. I will just manually check your playtime instead of it being automatically synced by the site. I would say leave a note on the giveaway in question but I see you already done so all good :)

I would recommend checking if it was given away for free by starting to make a giveaway and seeing if the game you want to give away has two stars next to the name. If it does, then it was given away for free and cannot be used for option 2.

Hi ! I wanna join with option 2 but I have a problem
My account region is Turkey and the game I want to giveaway is cheap here but it's one of my favorite games. I wanna giveaway between 3 to 5 copies from it but the problem is as my acount region is Turkey and I have to send it as gift so only other Turkey region users can redeem it. I read the discussion on steam and it was written that region restricted giveaways have no problems to be created here however I wanted to make sure before I join in this group as I didn't understand the rules well (also game is not reduced or without value)

I decided to try "Mini Metro" a casual game but hard to get highscore achievements.

Well it's a little hard to explain but I'll try (all screenshots were with the first try)
I used to put a triangle between 2 circles and at the end of the line it was either 2 circles in a row or it was 1 while I was changing the ending station per 30 sec to another circle
Sometimes I used to loop the line because it was both very fun and at the same time made the line very efficient

Also just a heads up for ProtonDB, if you own the game already I would always at least try and run it because sometimes the info can be outdated. Example: I am playing Surviving the Aftermath right now and the game runs without a single issue (even the launcher works fine) without me having to do anything but press play. Won't always be the case (especially if it has newer reports) but if you already own it and have the bandwidth/space its worth at least trying.

I'd never played games on linux prior to buying the steam deck, which was already using Proton 6 by the time I got it. Nevertheless it's exciting to know how far it has come and will continue to go! By the time I finally build my first PC, I don't think I'll need to run Windows on it any more.
Regarding Autonauts: when I joined the GA, I expected a casual automation/base-builder because of the cutesy art style, but its mechanics are surprisingly complex and deep! HLTB reports 96 hr to complete the story, and the global achievements stats are rather low too. My question is, am I qualified for a join request based on my current stats or do I need to play some more? Thank you!

I been using it since the very beginning (and used plain old Wine before that) so it has been amazing to watch going from being able to play a game here and there to just not being able to play a game here and there.
Ok, I should have checked HLTB report before accepting the game because that is ridiculously long. I knew it was decently long, but not just how actually long. And not having played the game (it is actually by far my most entered game on SG, I just can't manage to win it and I refuse to buy it out of spite and curiosity just how far I can get the number of entries before I do lol) I am having a hard time figuring out what would be a fair point to say "ok, I am happy with this amount of progress to approve your join request" because I would like this to be some very specific point (based on achievements or in-game progress) and not a vague "here is my playtime so far". I am open to suggestions here from you or anyone else because I agree that 96 hours is too much but I just don't know enough about the game to set the point.

I had zero idea how long it was until I started playing! (I can relate lol, currently the game that I just can't seem to win is STRIDER™ / ストライダー飛竜® which is given away multiple times a day).
Regarding your request for a well-defined specific point in progress, my immediate thought was the in-game Research Level (Note that this fandom link seems outdated; as of now there are 8 levels while it says 6). I have unlocked level 5 and is in the process of unlocking level 6 (screenshot). For some context, to unlock each higher research level, the player needs to create more bots and automate them to perform newly assigned tasks associated with the level, and scale their base reasonably well to ensure the production line is self-sustainable.
If you agree the Research Level mechanic can serve the purpose, please feel free to set a specific level for me, and I'll reply to you with a screenshot after I have reached said goal.

Research level seems like something that could indeed work. Does getting the level 7 unlocked seem like a fair thing to you? So you get to experience what they added after level 6, but its not necessary to grind everything up to the end and hopefully its nowhere near that 90 hour mark.
