Time for you to pull that sadness away (from the cat I mean). Seems to me like she is gonna need you a lot.

Yeah while she looks cute and adorable, i feel she has her own sadness/vulnerable in her eyes (which only 1 other person here also notices, not even my mom), i hope it will go away with enough love and attention.

Thank you!, and she sure is cute.

Well hopefully in a friendly way, some can be scratchy (and one my moms cats even set his teeth into my finger sometimes, luckily they don't bite through).

Hehe yeah, some are biter when you caress them for a long time, if you don't pull your finger back they generally let go after a bit, there's also the solution of pushing your finger or hand to them when they're biting. That's what I do when our girl does that hehe.

Thank you, i find coming up with girl names tougher (i mean if i get a child i already have boy names (Jonathan/Valdemar/Ingmar) suited up but no girl one.
My other name for the cat was Rose, but my mom went along with Snowie, and i also felt it suited better considering her fur and sounded better.

Thank you, and a happy life for you too.

Cats are easy to maintain and don't need too much attention.
I'm worried about the sad looking one. I guess she need a special attention form you.

I hope everything goes well. I raised cats almost all my life so I know a bit if you need help with them.

Comment has been collapsed.

There is only one and the same cat, in some pictures she looks more sad (especially in the younger? pictures).

What kind of special attention do you think she needs, and like is she lonely, depressed, or something else? Or she be happy with enough attention and playtime?

Thank you.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

When cats are depressed they will be quiet, hardly ask for food. If they isolate themselves is a sign that something is not right.

Just keep her near you since most cats like company. It's hard to describe but cats like to be petted, like brushing their fur (also with your hands). When they start to "purr" is when you know they are happy with the attention.

Just don't leave they alone too much.

Something not right as in?

I mean it's not like they are stray cats, and been abandoned, one cat was the question if she was ill or not (i believe it was this one, but my mom is so unclear and it all goes through other people) and then yesterday she says i am getting this one.
Offcourse she will get much attention, i just hope there is nothing more then some loneliness or a bit of depression.

Something like a disease, they can get kidney problems. That's why you don't feed them with cow milk.

I had on of my cats that he was just "too quiet". Didn't want to eat and that was something really wrong for him. Well, what happened is that the crazy thing just drank the cooking oil from a pan that was in the kitchen. Guess it wasn't good for his liver. =D
Despite that he always wanted some oil so we had to hide from him.

What i am afraid of, but there is still a difference between looking sad or being quiet.
I wish my mom didn't decide all this and let me have a hand in it, i know she means well, but if this was the cat that was spoken of to be ill or not.

With cats you can't leave anything unattended.

I seen one clip, there was a bang in the background, 2 cats crawled under a tractor, she just stayed on her place like she wasn't scared and didn't see a sad face, maybe it's just because her brothers/sisters are given away, i dunno.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Since she looks young I don't think she would be ill.

Maybe it's just how she looks and we're just assuming. Cats can have distinct personalities. If she is lively then that's ok.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks, really hope so too.

Yeah, but since my mom talked about A cat that COULD have been ill, i just don't think i can handle a sick one financially or emotionally right now, so hope everything is just okay, as i also am not the type to say i can't handle this cat, dump it in an asylum, if i make a commitment i feel i need to stick to it.
As to being lively i have to meet her first.

I get my money tommorow so i can do groceries, but there is also a very big thunderstorm coming, so i don't know if i can manage to drop by at my moms place in time, she will potty train her the first day.
Hope the 2 male cats of hers will leave her alone, then the cat will be with me on wednesday.

Thank you, the airco was broken in the car ride and very humid (after 36 days we finally had some thunder and rain), so it won't come tommorow but at the end of the week (friday?).
It actually comes from a much further place in the country then my mom (again) told me, and find it strange as my niece/nephew already visited her cat which made sense if it was just a 5km bike ride.
It's really weird info around it, like my cat does come from a different nest.

I will definitely will ask and have questions, wanted to go rid of some pesky insect, thought standing with a leg on each side on the catpole would hold me, it didn't. luckily one plate isn't broken in half, but slightly bend though, think it's good enough for the cat still.
But there is a litter box, litter, food, a tunnel, fishing pole toys, something to cover the couch, keeping water cold in the fridge for her, only a bed is still missing but that will come from my mom too (since its needed there first).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, the catpole is made of wood so it will hardly hold a persons weight. =D
Cat don't need cold water, it could be bad for kidneys since it would need to warm the water to the temperature of the body. Cats have between 38,1ยบ to 39,2ยบ C. They like running tap water, even a little fountain will entertain them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But you have cheap (ply) wood, and not cheap wood, and cheap cat poles and not so cheap cat poles. :p I think my moms pole would have hold my weight.

Thank you for the tip, see i would already have screwed up there, just on the water temperature.
Isn't a fountain constantly running using a lot of electricity? Not to mention the sound might make you crazy afterwhile, although it can be soothing.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think those little fountains would cost too much electricity. At least not here and we pay almost in double.

I think they love the sound of the fountain. Some cats can stare at if for hours.

Think about how the cat would get her food and water normaly and you will realize "Not out of the fridge" ;o)

So all in room or outside temp. is ok. If it is colder as that she would, most likely, wait till it got warmer (if not very thirsty).

Our cats, mostly, don't liked fresh water and prefered when it were 1 day old or the "old" water from the plate under a plant/flower pot. Some liked the pool water. The cats are very different and you will find out, over time, what she like.
It don't have to be perfect from the begin.

If you want to give her something as extra/reward (mostly because she is sweet^^), you could purchase cat milk. Special young ones love it. And as a 1x/month thing (or, much, lesser) it don't make you bankrupt.

And in general it would be good and smart that you choose the cat, when you feel that it fits. Funny look, friendly behavior, sweet sounds, whatever your thoughts are when you see, hear, touch her and of course how she reacts on you.
That someone else choose is in such a case not perfect because you must assume that you will have the cat for, many, years and it should fit.
(Kittens make it easy that you like them, so most likely it will not give problems because of it but it's always better to choose by yourself)

In zoo's animals get icecreams, and i thought for dogs actually it was very normal too to have colder water, if that's different for cats..

Heard not every cat could tolerate milk?

In zoo's animals get icecreams

Yes, but animals that comes from colder regions and not as normal drinks. They get it as entertainment, as toy, cold drink and some fruits/vegetables in it. So more or less "healthy sweets" for them.

and i thought for dogs actually it was very normal too to have colder water

I never seen that someone gave their dog colder water as what normal comes out of the sink.

Heard not every cat could tolerate milk

I wrote about cat milk, that is, of course not normal cow milk and have, of course, no negative effect on the cats.

Never give a cat (pur) normal milk.
They get belly/bowel pain and shi* in pudding texture (not cool for cleaning). Maximum you could do is 90% water and 10% milk but i would still recommend against it because cats always wants more milk and will be as annoying as possible to force you that they get what they want (so you dig your own grave with bringing them to the taste of the unhealthy normal milk).

After having a cat for most of my young life I managed to develop allergies to then many years ago. I am happy that you will get to enjoy a cat in your life. It is a wonderful thing.

My mom had a cat before i was born, even attacked dogs, she was afraid for me so she put her with someone else.
Throughout my life i always asked for a dog or cat but she said she was allergic, i thought nonsense, but so it can actually happen?

However after my dad passed away she got 2 cats again (so in my case she did actually lied).

And short haired cats are not possible?

Thank you.

If I go out to a friends place who has a cat or a dog I will notice it. I just get stuffed up but I like to be able to breath properly so no animals for me. When my youngest son was very young he was told if we got a dog I would have to leave. He still wanted the dog and said I could leave :) Kids are always fun.
I still enjoy petting cats and dogs when I get a chance but I need to wash my face and hands quickly afterwards as that helps.

I were overwhelmed when my gf were pregnant. I read a lot of books because for me it was my first kid (but i were already 6x uncle). For her the 4th, so she was very relaxed and smiled about all the stuff that i read, questioned and done.
In the end all the books weren't necessary, and each one told you something else, which only raised the pressure and fear to make something wrong.
When he was born, he grabbed my little finger and from that moment i known, each time when he grabbed my finger, exactly why he cry (so if belly pain, hungry etc.). All fit somehow together and the most stuff from the books were "bullshit".
Stuff like "don't lay him in the bed between you, because you could roll on him". He laid between us in the bed and none of us rolled on him. My gf needed to stand up much earlier, i adjusted his sleep position, with securing side sleeping pillows, that he can't roll out of the bed and when he got awake he moved and that waked me always up.

Hard to describe but i would call it "you grow into the parent role", very fast and automaticly, and can't make much wrong with the basics -besides the holding position, that you learn very quickly (so only a tiny risk the first days when you don't have someone that explain/show you how to hold the baby)-. The education is a other thing^^

So enjoy the time with your kitten and don't think too much about all the "ifs".
