So no way for current members on Classic to take advantage of the $99 again this year? Last year I got the $99 deal and it's carried me through 2021. Was hoping to do it again...

Yeah, same; from what I understand, they are trying to make us roll over to the new plan, so they don't have to give us 12 games per month.

I hope they will run such promo next month (Christmas etc - they should allow us to gift the subscription for lower price :) )
Not sure why they limit Classic subscribers to pay only in US dollars for the subscription (It's like someone wrote here that HB wants to get rid of Classic subscribers).

Has anyone confirmed whether you can gift a $99 plan to someone with an existing sub from an account that doesn't currently have one? When trying to purchase it yourself it says that it's only for new subscribers, but when you check the gift box that warning seems to be removed (I can't check myself because I have a current sub).

You just gift it to an email address. Then you get a link they (you) can claim, and it will add 12 months to your existing subscription.

Yeah, that's how it worked last year but I just wanted to make sure it works the same way this year, since this year they aren't even allowing people with existing subs to gift the sub using the promo code (which they allowed last year). Didn't want to ask for help and get stuck with a sub I can't claim ^^

I have a (paused) sub, seems like it would let me check out. What do you see? https://i.imgur.com/3YPOIKS.png

Maybe give this link a try: https://www.humblebundle.com/subscription/checkout?gift=true&tier=premium&duration=annual&promo=holiday21

And their help pages still state you can add Premium Choice to an existing Classic Choice:

If you are already on a Classic Plan then you can redeem either a Basic or Premium gift as these will add to your subscription credits. Classic Plan subscribers cannot redeem Lite gifts.

This confusing comment may be connected with other situation. I did not tried, but theoretically if you would buy from another account (which, to be clear, IS NOT ALLOWED by HB) then it potentially could work. As I said I dont want to use such trick and can not confirm if it would work.

Is worth? like a classic subscriber and recurring "pauser" I must say that is worth, because you're receiving around 120 games for 99, that is less than a dollar for game, however, not all months you will be happy with the bundle, because sometimes are "bad games" or simply games different to our tastes, and one thing is true, the quality of the games is not the same that 3 or 4 years ago, but you have the option of pause a month (I'm not sure about that in this promotion) but at the end, yes, is worth.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm a classic subscriber and generally only wind up buying a bundle every few months. I almost always get them for $8 by attempting to pause before buying to get $4 off. The $99/12 works out to $8.25 per bundle. Now you are guaranteed to get that price every time by buying the year, and there's no guarantee they'll keep offering the pause coupons, but for me the up front commitment just isn't worth it.

Didn't try it yet, but last year it was not required to buy it from another account. I bought gift subscription and activated link under my account (HB just said something like that - "are you sure to redeem your gift to yourself?")
I think, I'll try to buy Basic annual subscription this time (last time I've bought Premium gift, not sure why I didn't think about Basic plan) and gift it to myself (I'm on Classic and this is my last month).

December 8, 2021 Received 12-Month Classic Plan

I was not able to use HOLIDAY21 coupon since I'm from "not eligible" country. But I've bought annual subscript for ~85$ (6300 RUB)

Hey, coincidentally my $6/3 months expired with December, so this lines up well. Easy choice (heh) for $8.25 per month IMO.

For what it's worth, I claimed my $6 December games, cancelled my subscription, and was immediately able to apply the coupon.

Did not get the email, but the $99 for a year is advertised on SG and ST (lol on both accounts) but when I click on it it says "new subscriptions only", nothing about cancelled plans... I have an active plan, so I'm afraid to cancel it - what if I will then be unable to apply the coupon afterwards, since I did not get the email. Think I will stick to what I have already rather than risk the coupon not working for me

Did you send it as gift to yourself? Is that possible? I have not tried yet, I see the promotion is active until January and I already paid for December, so I might wait until after Steam sales to decide about Humble subscription. I have 3 months left of my 12 months for 10 € promotion, so this would be a better deal for me

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah but first tried to renew subscription and then send a gift, but that didn't work, because it would just automatically renew your subscription, only if you cancel and select send as gift seperately it worked (took some figuring out).

3 months for 10 euro compared to about 70+ euro you can get off total, isn't that going to be much cheaper?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh absolutely, it will be a lot cheaper for me to cancel the 3 months I have left, just asking around here first to get info on how to do it properly, I suspect I would not figure it out on my own XD. And I absolutely would not pay the 18 € it costs to get HB Choice at full price, which will probably be the case if I don't manage to gift the coupon to myself. thanks for your help Lugum, I will try your method during the weekend, even Steam sale will be live by then so I will sort out all my money-spending at once :)

So just to confirm: I must cancel my subscription, then use the coupon but select to send as gift during checkout, then send the gift to myself? They ask for email address and I just give them the one I normally use or do I need a new email?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I selected that thing at the bottom (gift choice) after cancelling the subscription.
I dunno if you selected credit card before, or used paypal like i did, but don't think that should matter in the end.

And i send the gift to my own email adress, i don't think humble is happy with multiple accounts.

I know all about spending money, got humble choice, some on gog sale, and on reseller sites, on some booze for xmas/new year and yeah still waiting on steam's sale too. :}

Effectively, people want to pay no more than $6/month and then complain that the quality is not the same as it used to be (when it was $12 with no discount options). Find the contradiction.

If you pay $6, every single month is still amazing value. Even for $8/m (with is $99/y) I don't know any other bundle that offers that much value.
People are really complaining too much.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Amen. If we do some math, then 99$/12 = 8,25$ per month. Then 8,25$/ average 10 games = 0,825$ per game. Then 0,825/3 because HB, developer, charity = 0,275$ to every group. It is example but you as developer get only 0,275$ for your game. And even complains about it. And not only on bad game, because in every choice is one good game at least. Even on DailyIndieGame arent so low with prices.Im so sorry for devs, who get complains even for such bargain prices. They work for nothing compared to prices in Steam and other platforms. I understand that this world deserves bad games, because there are people, who cant value work behind them.

(and I dont count cards from games and their selling prices with luck for foil cards)

Well sorry, but the Premium Choice (which can be seen as an equivalent to the Classic plan) is 160 Euros, which is about 180 USD. I have been paying for Humble Monthly and then Choice Classic for over 4 years. Most of the games were given away on this website or to my friends or family. I am truly sorry that I am such an evil person to ask for some sort of a discount (whether it be a -10% or -25% off on my next bill) as a long-time loyal customer without actually having to do some shenanigans with gifting subscription to myself. God damn it, how dare I right? I explicitly wrote "better deal (than the full price)" and not "better deal than -50 % off". Maybe I should have worded it differently or just explained myself more.

Life is not fair. How many times I was fair, but at the end, I was scammed. Even now, some minutes ago. Im giving game with cards to my friend. I run ASF and gather cards for his account. Plus I activate him all free games, dlcs, osts, I activate for myself. Everything I want for games I bought and activated was he send me cards I gather throught ASF. And what he did? He sends me 10 cards for my 10 cards, because he wants to create badge for his game. I pay for games, I activate them, I gather them and he wants 1:1 change. In the end, he sends me 10 cards and I look at his profile, where he had Level 5 badges for his games. I know from bying game you can gather only half number to craft bagde. And because I buying games for him, because he dont have bank account, so he pays me cash, that he cant buy cards from market. So he changed my cards for cards to craft his badge. And I call him friend.. life is not fair, even between friends. Just use what you can use.
And I reply to Menacer post, not to your post. There are many worse posts than yours, just Menacer hits my string and I want to continue.

Classic gives you 10 games instead of Premium's 9. So with Classic you are guaranteed 10 games for $12, whereas with Premium you're relying on them giving you a discount deal like this one. Otherwise you'll be paying $20 for 9 games.

One could argue though, that 1 additional game doesn't weigh up against a 40% discount. Imo Classic is worth it if you're in it for the long haul and don't want to rely on luck/discounts, and Premium is better if you're looking for the best deal right now.

Of course, this deal negates it, if like a lot of people you only buy the occasional monthly, this yearly deal means one saves a whopping $4 ($4.50 for me due to exchange rate at the moment!) over a monthly classic sub.
For me personally, I've always gotten yearly deals, so the fact I have classic is not a perk, per sé.
