I don't support piracy in any way but they're basically asking for it lol.

Edit: So people report that in various countries (US, Poland etc.) games like Far Cry 4, The Crew etc. also disappeared from the Steam store. No more Ubi games worldwide on Steam? Ubi is a joke. They will lose more money than they can imagine because of that.

Edit 2: Seems it was a mistake and new Ubi games will be available on Steam for everyone except for folks in the UK.

Edit 3: New Ubi games are back in Steam Store for everyone except people living in the UK. Well, I'm sorry folks.

They're certainly not very bright as well.... if anything they're promoting piracy not keeping it in check (when a game has DRM so bad and pirating it avoids it...)

Well I pre-ordered Far Cry 4 on steam a while ago, I'm disappointed I didn't preorder AC now...was gonna wait for a review on that game. Doubt I'll buy any ubisoft games in the future unless they're back on steam. Well, Heroes Might and Magic, I'll definitely buy that franchise hopefully on steam. I hate having multiple libraries...

Just now? They've been going full retard for quite a while. Ubisoft's foot must be a gory mess from all the times they shot themselves there lately. XD

While I agree that there isn't a problem (and companies will naturally want to pursue their own platforms to cut out the middle-man), the reason for pricing disparities between Origin and Steam are because steam prices are agreed upon and contractualised in a way. Typically I find Origins (or rather, EA's) pricing to be terrible. The Sims3 expansion packs didn't drop in price with the release of Sims4 for example, remaining as expensive as some entire releases each. This is for something they keep re-cutting from each new game, at that.

But that's just my nitpicking. Competition often breeds greatness, but Steam is too far in front to really find any good competition right now. The best bet is going to be GoG Galaxy, and Humble have been putting up a good fight with their storefront too. While they lack the same absurdly huge selection, if you pay attention you can see them in price-jousting wars with Steam, sometimes beating them by a little margin. I would definitely recommend keeping an eye on the humble store during the christmas period, because sometimes you can get things a few bits cheaper that way.

There is already a competition, and every competitor asks you to install and run their half assed game client. I guess you wouldn't mind if we had to install a client for 2k games, for Activision games, for Rockstar games...

If this becomes a habit, I'll seriously look into console gaming, as there you have your friends in one place, you don't have to make sure to invite them across 20 game clients.

No they aren't. Their prices are fucking shit compared to Steam (russian region). I'm not gonna pay 2000 rub for DA: Inquisition when I can buy Witcher 3 for 550 rub from Steam.

Yes, because gamertag is the most important thing and that's the sole purpose UPlay was invented for.

I really hope people don't cave and buy it on uplay. If it sells well enough like BF3, then we can say goodbye to all future Ubisoft games.

I don't understand what you're saying. That people shouldn't buy it just because it's not on Steam? That would be ridiculous.

But maybe I misunderstood you.

I don't see a problem here. By listing your game on Steam, Valve takes a cut of your sales. It's only natural that they would want to make the move to their own system eventually. It really doesn't hurt us more than a minor inconvenience, as while UPlay doesn't really offer anything worthwhile, it's also not exactly horrendous either. So long as we get access to the game we purchase, there really isn't much to gripe about except the "Urgh, another launcher" factor.

They're going to miss out on the expanded awareness they would get through using Steam, but they will still likely sell through GMG, Humble, Gamergate, etc, so the hit shouldn't be TOO horrible. The only time these kinds of moves are bad, is when the launcher has a horrible EULA or bad privacy/security, which forces you to greenlight their shoddy practices if you want to play, or to abstain.

How often do I need to repeat, no Steam = no buy.

I pirate only EA's shitty games because of this, but I have no problem adding Ubisoft to that list as well. If I can't buy it on my platform of choice, that's what happens. They were being so dramatic about the PC market and pirates already, trust me it can get much worse.

I'd like to ask my fellow SG'ers to do exactly the same. And don't buy a damn thing on u'Play', would you.

To do the same = to pirate?

A game not being on Steam is not an excuse to pirate a game? It doesn't justify the action. I will buy it on UPlay and I hope everyone else who's interested in those games will too. It's not on Steam, it sucks but it's not a big hindrance. All those games were being run through UPlay anyway.

Oh no, I don't encourage that at all. In fact I'm mildly ashamed of myself for pirating. I simply meant to say; dont buy EA or Ubisoft titles on their own completely useless platforms, which should be avoided like Ebola. Vote with your wallets.

So, finally, f--k you Uplay as Origin too.
Two shittiest DRM ever with overpriced games and DLC, bugs and awful design.
In the past, I bought several physical discs with uplay games. I haven't played a single hour of them because of shitty Uplay system!

I don't have any problem with uplay, but the only reason I buy games is because of steam. If they don't let me buy it there, then I'll just play it for free.

I'm sure again a money story between Ubi and Steam.
Anyway for me it does not matter, when we have the game on Steam it is necessary to launch all the same Uplay.
The only regret is the game download on Uplay takes double the HDD space necessary for the instalation, while Steam don't.

Sorry for my bad English.

Thats really bad news. I was thinking about preordering Far Cry 4, but only uPlay which makes it a nono for me.
I can live with 2 clients as long as I can use Steam as main account.
I'm glad I have Unity already in my account.

I'm sure it will be solved sometime

I dont have a problem with Uplay,it works fine just like any other client, ewhat i do have a problem is that when all th publishers can put their games on steam realising its the biggest drm out there,Ubisoft and EA are beeng greedy again and want a piace of that market too .

FORCING me, gamer and customer , to buy a game on Steam, which is DRM ALREADY, to install additional DRM and useless client (another registration, another email and password to remember) just for playing a UBi game it's unacceptable, and that's the reason cuz i don't buy anymore Ubisoft games on Steam..(but i dont buy UBI game at all)..same for EA ofc

They're not forcing you to buy it on Steam. You could just buy it on Uplay for a single DRM deal. Hell I'm pretty sure once activated it's added to the Uplay account so you don't need steam for it. :v
