It makes contributors happy to see comments on their giveaways and stuff. Many of the comments are just plain fake Thanks.. but theres still a few amazing people who actually put some effort into the comments or have conersations with other people about the game, or maybe even what they ate today.

My Entry to Comment ratio isnt good.. (1,546:37) but atleast it isnt filled with fake Thanks..

So maybe next time when you enter a giveaway, think twice before using the AT Script...

Anyway.. how are you guys and girls ? ^u^

I just woke up (its 7 here) :D

I don't use any scripts, but typically unless the creator asks for something specific, I just write thanks! Does it make my appreciation for the giveaway less genuine? Does that mean the other 1,509 giveaways you entered that you didn't leave a comment you weren't thankful for?

It doesn't make them less genuine :3 Im just taking about some people that are just lazy to take 5 seconds to write a nice comment for the Contributor and instead use an Auto-Thanks Script etc.

I type all of my thanks out by hand, and often times if the giveaway has a description that warrants it, i'll elaborate on my thanks.

Automatic thanks or not they still fill empty, I made once a giveaway asking their opinions about something as an entry fee, quess how many "thanks" I received? Pisses me off always.

TYep :) The same is here :D Then you see that not only "automated" thanks are pasted but also people don't care and do not read the description. Just because people want gifts- free games. Thanks :D

Ok, so from now on instead of saying thanks by saying, well, "thanks," I'll simply say, "Fuck you if you don't like it! Now gimme the money, gringo! See if I don't!"

That should do the trick.

Seriously, though, what script? I'm using SteamGifts Plus (really handy; love the filters), and it's definitely not present in this script (fortunately, I might add. That'd be pretty tacky). As for saying thanks, I used to not do it, thinking that doing it for every entry cheapened the times when you actually meant it, but then someone criticized users who had more entries than posts, so I got into the habit of saying thanks on every one I enter. (And no, I don't always read them. Believe me, if I win something, I'll go back and read every word). :)

People use scripts to say thanks? Wow, that's pretty sad.

I write more in giveaways I actually have a chance of winning. If it's a public, I usually say TY or tankz. It may not be much, but hellp I write them by my own hands, and I'm part of 5% that actually thanks the person, it's sad seeing giveaways with 2k entries yet 300 comments.

Threads like this only inform more people that they exist.

You also don't use an auto-thanks when you enter a giveaway, that would defeat the purpose of it being automatic.

I am not fantastic with comments and am guilty of no thanks at all (I contribute back to the community as thanks) but honestly I am happy to see a just plain thanks from time to time, somebody went that little bit extra to say thanks. Just because I may not have a comment more than thanks does not mean I am ungrateful. It seems a bit of an ego trip to me that everybody should leave you a personalized comment on your giveaways, if you need a personal message from everyone that enters your giveaway than perhaps you are giving things away for the wrong reasons.

Seeing the thanks comments isn't needed in my opinion to know that people appreciate my putting the giveaway up and to know that I'll make the winner happy. I give games away here because I wouldn't have any use for them and know someone else is bound to enjoy a game I don't care for.

Well, I actually write "Thanks!" or "Thank you!" in most giveaways I enter, I don't think we should refrain from doing so because some people use "Auto-thanks". Some times (read most times) I don't have anything good to say, but find it to be simple good manners saying thanks.
