Vannila Terraria is the better game, but I love me Tekkit.

Well I haven't played both but based on what I like about Terraria, what turns me off about Minecraft, and what Minecraft lacks (from what I'm told) it's easy for me to say Terraria.
I really don't like voxelated graphics, I don't think shading and depth perception work well in voxelated world, or at least ones that are "purists" voxelation, I get headaches just looking at huge valleys in Minecraft screenshots. Secondly I like the exploration/adventure sense to Terraria and I hear that is lacking in Minecraft. Also I just really like the artstyle of Terraria :>

On Terraria is it easy to join a multiplayer game? I'm not gonna lie, I pirated minecraft before but now I own it :) But when I was playing minecraft cracked I had to do all this weird stuff like hamachi then find a list of servers or a server on youtube and then get the ip and join it and it was really hard to play multiplayer. On terraria can you just go to a lobby find some rooms and join?

This poll does not make any sense. Just because both are "sanbox bulding" games, you can't compare them. I could write an essay about the differences of those two games.
It's like comparing apple to orange juice. They are both made out of fruits and they are juice. That's it.

Minecraft. Why? Easy, when was the last time Terarria was updated? OH SNAP!

Not really. It's not an inherently better game for having more complex circuitry mechanics than Terraria (Terraria does have some circuitry). The actual game part of it is really, really lackluster, it's the creative elements of it that make it exciting. Terraria is sort of the opposite, the creation aspects are not terribly good, but the gameplay is top-notch. Both appeal to different tastes but are equally valid. If you like Metroidvania platformers with a touch of crafting then you'll enjoy Terraria, and if you like open sandboxes with near-endless possibilities, you'll enjoy Minecraft. But which is "better" is entirely subjective, and to suggest that having redstone makes Minecraft better than Terraria (or any other game) is endlessly silly.

And does that circuitry work in a 3D environment and is it capable of creating in-game computers, LCD screens or games of Tetris? If it is capable of such advanced circuitry, sorry, I have played Terraria for an hour or so, it was boring. Not because I wanted to compare it to Minecraft, I absolutely don't want to do that and I find this thread useless because these are two very different games and I'm pretty sure that many people love both. I just didn't like it. So, well if I have to choose, Minecraft is the game for me. I just find any argument useless because... You just can't compare a 3D first person survival game to a 2D sidescroller just because both have trees, grass and house buidling.

Are you sure you know what Terraria is? It\'s 2D, so no, it doesn\'t have 3D circuitry. I was only arguing with your claim that it had no circuitry, not discussing how advanced it is or what it can do.
On a different note, what in-game purpose does creating Tetris in Minecraft serve? If it doesn\'t accomplish something for gameplay, then it\'s comparable C++, Gamemaker, or AGS, not to a gameplay element.

Ok, looks like you didn't read my comment, I'm not even sure if I can take this seriously and answer. First of all, yes, I do know that Terraria is 2D, and yes, I know that it doesn't have 3D circuitry, believe or not, that's how far my logical thinking goes, surprise, I'm not an ape. "If it is capable of such advanced circuitry, sorry" - where do I mention 3D? Of course, "And does that circuitry work in a 3D environment..?" but I suppose you did understand that was a rethorical question.
Second of all, "I was only arguing with your claim" - oh, you were not, I did not claim Terraria had no circuitry, check who you're talking to, I only claimed that Minecraft is capable of much more.
And the last thing, "what in-game purpose does creating Tetris in Minecraft serve?" - What health purpose, or what important for your life does playing games serve? Entertainment is the only answer I accept, anything else is nonsense. Some people try to argue on the internet, some people build Tetris in Minecraft, maybe for fun, maybe to get views on YouTube. If that doesn't accomplish something for our lives, then it's comparable to death, or is it?

There both quite different games, Mainly 1 is Side Scrolling and the other is 1st Person.
However, As I only have the two options, I would have to pick Minecraft. Mainly because of the fact that the Devs are still actively updating it, and work with the community very nicely (See Command Block, Added for Map Makers to make it much easier for them). Plus the great modding community it created, The mods are amazing.
However, Terraia was really good, and I'm pretty sure its still my most played Steam game (With over 100 Hours, Though not anywhere near my Minecraft playtime with over 1000, if not 2000 hours), I just wish they kept updating it. Can't wait for Starbound though.
