I know, 7k games is ridiculous! Yet I can't stop collecting more and more...

I would've never imagined it would escalate this much when I got my first game, CS:S on April 26th, 2006...

What was your first game on Steam?

Cuphead
Dishonored 2

Congrats on reaching 7k games TImmaeh! My first steam game was Half-Life 2 from the ATI(AMD) Bundle from way back in 2004. I didn't activate it and setup a steam account until 2005 though.

to be honest, I don't understand why people collect games and not play them? Seems like a waste.

but my first game was Team Fortress 2, I bought for $20 at Gamestop 9 years ago.

For me it started with bundles. There are plenty bundles out there that contain a game or 2 that I thought of giving a try, so I just bought the bundle instead of the full priced game. Then I also came to steamgifts.com and met a lot of people which lead to me wanting to try more games, so I ended up straight buying every bundle I had. The leftovers were good for trading games I didn't own. Steam cards turned into me farming games to make profit on Steam, which I used on games again. And eventually I ended up where I am now.

I do play a lot of games, or atleast try 'em out, mostly via my alt account.

Why people collect stamps? Coins? They will never use it, but they like it. It's like an addiction (probably it is). You don't need a reason to waste your own money.

And most of the time buying games is stronger than me... (and I'm not even close to 7k).

yes, you don't need reason to waste your own money, but you do need a reason to waste someone else money by accepting giveaways and adding them to their collection. I'm not targeting anyone, im just saying if you are collecting games using your own money, thats fine and dandy, but don enter games payed by other people just to add it in your collection and never play the game.

I know a few people that do these and what a jerk they are.

Whoa... That's a lot a of games! Congrats on your achievement.
And thanks for sharing!

To answer your question, I think my first game on Steam was either a physical copy of CS:S or the Orange Box digital download. I honestly don't remember... But I remember getting Orange Box off WOOT back in the day.

Tomb Raider, on June 14, 2015. I don't know if I should congratulate you or not for that big number, but since you just collect instead of playing, congrats! I know I personally wouldn't want to have a 7k backlog. :P

Congrats on the milestone! I only have a tenth of that yet I still can't seem to make a dent in it, so I can't even imagine the backlog you must have.

My first Steam game was Half Life, way back in July of 2013. :D

First game in Steam? Half-Life 2.
Man, were my buddies and me all angry that suddenly "this new drm thingy" is needed to play a game. We were sure this had no future and that it will fade into obscurity soon.
Boy, were we wrong!

I know the feeling. I didn't think that way about Steam, but I definitely thought that way or even hoped for it about Origin, Uplay and others.

Now Steam, with all it's bugs and missing features, is the most comfortable way to have a large amount of installed games uptodate etc. Hence why I prefer to buy games via Steam, even if they require 3rd party DRM nontheless.

I used to have 7k games like you, but then I took a thousand more to the kinee.

First game activated on Steam was Dirt 3, which was bundled with some video card. First actual purchase was Duke Nukem Forever, which ironically I still haven't played to this day.

but thesew removed from Volvo are also removed from the API ;p so noone beside you will know you own them and they will not show up on any removed-games-owned lists nor get you into removed games collectors groups etc ;p

you are in a group already - I am not and will not be able to be if Volvo keeps removing games this way as I have no way of proving I own these titles ;p

The situation evolves constantly concerning removed games and there are many other such removed games besides those who Volvo has recently purged. When I was accepted to the group, most if not all of the nearly 200 games that were recently purged didn't even exist at that point in time. :-)
