Well, this website frustrates me...

I have been entering giveaways for almost 3 months, gaveaway 4 games already,
and only won 1 giveaway almost 2 months ago which was Superbrothers: Swords & Sworcery EP...
When I gave my games, the happines in the winners gave me hope that I'll benefit from that too...
But I get only frustration from this site.

I have a friend who wins a game about every week and another one who didn't won anything for a month and a half and then won 3 games in 1 day!!
How is it possible I dont win anything??

Is it possible there is an error in my account?

Patience my friend. I was feeling kind of like you. Made a bunch of giveaways and for a month or so with many many entries I won nothing. Then out of nowhere I won two games in two days!!! Your time will come.

Man, kids and they're "If it's completely random, why aren't I winning?" way of false reasoning.

Ihave never won anything and have given away more than $100 ... it's random deal with it. There are ways the givers can improve odds for people but if they don't do that then it's very hard to win.

I personally make my giveaways for contributors only AND last one 1 hour so that the odds are much better. My giveaways often have 25-30 entries and often I giveaway 4 copies so those are MUCH better odds than 3000+ entries and only 1 winner. Long giveaways just end up racking up the entries and making the odds suck.

Why there are always people who create threads like this and start whining thinking they are the only ones who don't win a lot of games here. Seriously, WHY?

A. People like to whine

B. Squeaky wheels get greased (or spit on)

C. People have misconceptions about how the winners are chosen

D. People want free stuff (refer to B)

Very incomplete list I'm sure, I could go on.

But I hazn't winned any gamz recently! I means, I nots enters any, but no noez winz! Why?1?!?!?!?!?

:P Ya, +1 - Honestly, I wish there was a system that checked for threads like this, and purposely decreased there chance to win (Not by much, but a little bit). Then, at least the next time they complained, it would be true.

I wish people who create threads like this get suspended from using this site for a week~.
Then, at least they wouldn't complain anymore.

At this point, I mostly stopped giving away here only because everything I want, rarely is there a giveaway for it (plus I've entered enough to know that I won't win) and I've given more than I've gotten out of here so I usually reserve my stuff for friends or other online communities that I actually get something back from (whether it be physical, emotional or whatnot).

You stopped giving away games because others stopped giving away games you wanted to win? You gave away expecting a fair return or a profit? Ya, you are welcome to leave here at ANY time bro.

The more you give the easier to get. There are always top games being given by cg or private giveaway groups. Having a high contributor value helps a lot. But if you don't give, it will be much harder to get the best games because you probably won't see that type of giveaway without at least a substantial contributor value.
Anyways, you shouldn't give games here with the intention of getting something in return. When you give something away here, you should be humble and do not care if you're gonna win something or not. The contributor value alone is already a form of recognition for your giveaways.

That and Karma likes people who give stuff. I always make sure to give something when I've won a giveaway, even if it is just a $1 game like Fortix because I'm broke and can't afford more.

@TS: Like I already mentioned on a similar thread before, if you join 1000 giveaways with 1000 entries on average, chances are around 66% (not precise, someone good with math teach me this please) that you are going to win at least one giveaway. So, if you have 1000 entries and won 1 game, consider yourself lucky. What happens is that you are looking only at active people's profiles. Most people don't even read the forums or comment on giveaways so you wouldn't see their names, and wouldn't click on their profiles to find out most don't get a lot of games. Stay active and you will win.

I take it you're the sort that also believes that Christmas is about receiving? A gift is something that you offer, not something that you expect. Take it from someone else who has only offered bundle games and has given more than received. Don't rightly care if I win or not, though when I do I enjoy it thoroughly. Just keep giving and be happy for what you do get, and how you make others feel when they win what you give them. If you can't fit the bill for either side of that then this may not be the site for you.

I think the question of randomness comes up becuase he is saying his friend won 3 in 1 day. I also have a friend who won at least 3 games in won day and can understand it makes you feel like something is wrong. Statistically though, not winning is perfectly normal and should be expected. Your friend most likely has access to private groups, high contributer value giveaways, or entering puzzle giveaways, all which have better odds, and some really good luck.
If you want a game so bad, buy it. If you see a game a lot in a short space of time, then that usually means it's on sale somewhere. Thats the only material benefit you should be looking for from this site, knowning to look for where to obtain cheap games, not winning free ones.
Expect to win and you will lose, expect to lose and you will win, and I dont mean just the game.

Seriously, +1 on this one. I have won a few times, sure, but my biggest benefit from SG has been all the huge free game giveaways around holidays, and the great sales other users are kind enough to point out. That and of course the joy of giving away games to people! :-D

I won two in a day once. Definitely made me real happy, especially with both being games I had on my wishlist! Sometimes you just get lucky, sometimes you have none. It happens.

I'd also add that the benefit is finding out about games you may not have known about otherwise. I've added a few to my wishlist because of finding out about them via giveaways here, and also bought a few I wouldn't have found.
