Holy fuck.

Definitely one of the best games I have played in a long time. I found in recent years most games story just doesn't draw me in and keep me interested and I skip cutscenes and such. However, with BI I was hooked from start to finish.

It's nice for a game to be so good for once in this day and age.

Glad to see other people enjoyed the game, and especially the story as much as I did.

I can understand people complaining about the games length. But these people seem to be the sort who would play once and not touch it again. In my opinion, the story alone warrants a second playthrough to see it from the new perspective the ending gives you. Let alone finding collectibles, 1999 mode etc.

If people are just going to come here, to bash people for buying a game on release day, please go elsewhere.

Well said. Everyone has the right to buy or not to buy the game. Many new games are overpriced, but this one was not among that group actually - if you deduce XCOM, Bioshock 1 and a free game of 35€ (GMG), you get somewhere around 15€ for Bioshock Infinite alone. That is not expensive for a day 1.

This exactly, i can actually remember there was a time, when games with less than 20 hours playtime were considered quite short, which usually resulted in not as good reviews. i keep complaining on how games nowadays are to short.

Not that far into it but so far it has been great. Only problem is that I have not really bought it but that will be fixed in the coming weeks.

I've not started it yet. I cleaned up some achievements last night. I was going to get a 'legit' rank 1 on Raptr just for my own satisfaction but I don't feel like playing religiously to keep up with others. I've a big backlog of games I need to try and get back into playing before I go back and play 1999 mode, or even just complete it again.

Finishing a game so fast once is enough for me, if I were to play it again completely so soon, I'd be sick of it.

You know you just gave piss-poor review of this game?

"Game isn't good enough to play it again after spending around 10 hours with it"...

Comment has been collapsed.

Not really. It's like with any good thing, too much of it and you don't want any more of it. You can have the most delicious chocolates in the world, eat a whole box at once and you'll be sick. So you choose to only eat 2 or 3 a time, does that make them bad? Not at all.

I've just completed a game, so I don't have desire to play through the story immediately again. I'd rather wait to re-play it fully in the future, perhaps when some DLC comes etc.

Edit: And to clarify, you used quotation marks there for a quote which was not said by myself. Read the rest of the thread and you'll see how many times I've said it's easily worth a second playthrough. Just because I completed it fast means I must instantly do my second playthrough straight after? Honestly, have some sense.

Well, after finishing New Vegas I started second playthrough right away. Same with Arkham City. That's how I know those are great games.
Saying "I played 10 hours" and if I played more "I'd be sick of it" isn't a good review for $60 game.

Actually, this game is quite fun. I've finished the game and am already about 6 hours into my next "playthrough" for achievements only. Not the 1999 one; I'm saving that for later. ;p After this play through, I'ma wait for the DLCs to come out and play again since I bought the Season Pass :D

Didn't like first game, didn't like 2nd one too so I'm not touching this series ever again. Yes, I know some of you would kill me for it but seriously - this game wasn't even remotely fun for me.

oh wow, only 12 hours to finish the game? considering how you didint rushed trough it then it means its incredibly short.

if this is ok in singleplayer games, guess i wont be buying them for a while unless they are freeroam.

the sole mention of that games gives me so much diseases i would die by the time they finish to count them.

all im saying, is that SP games are becoming much shorter than before, i mean i expected about 20 hours or more if you decided to go 100% on the game, but 12 on a not so rushed playtrhough is just dissapointing.

Name one recent SP game with a 20 hour campaign, that isn't open-world/RPG. You can't. Your expectations were way off.

Don't get me wrong, I agree it's a problem. But I think people who were expecting 20 hours+ are way off on their expectations as no games are that long these days apart from RPG/Open-world.

Of course I'd much rather it have been 20 hours+ for a single campaign run, but as it stands, 12 hours is good these days... sadly.

Yeah given that a few more people have finished it now that's a good idea.

It's really great to see how many people loved the story/ending as much as I did too! I was thinking there might be a lot of people who said how they expected all that and saw it coming etc. but maybe not.

Yeah, that I can agree on. I also felt the 'choices' didn't actually change much in the story or matter much to game progression. I won't go into detail here as I was trying to keep the thread spoiler free but I can think of a few choices you make, which seem to impact nothing at all.

Here's a question I haven't seen asked anywhere else... how the hell do I save in this game? Every time I start Bioshock Infinite I have to start again at the very beginning and I'm playing the same sections of game over and over again. I only have time to play a couple hours per session so I can't finish the game in one sitting. I've read that it's supposed to auto-save which apparently isn't happening for me. I can't find a save option on the menu and I'm hitting F5 to quick save but so far I'm coming up zero. Any ideas how to save?

Permalink

The game has an autosave feature, you can't save by yourself.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It used autosaves.

Which sucks. I was very disappointed when I saw the game play vids.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Apparently it's a known bug with the autosaves. It works for some people and not others. There is no rhyme or reason to the problem. The good news is that it eventually started saving correctly for me for no apparent reason but who knows how long it will keep working. I still hate that it doesn't have a manual save option. How can you have a single player game with no save?

Not even 1/4 of the way done w/ bio 1 and it was boring, so i'll stay way from infinite.

Now knowing how short this is, I'll hold off on finishing it - have the season pass and in my experience once I finish a game, there is very little reason to revisit it.

About to start my second playthrough, but I'm wondering what immediate benefits will I see when I pick up the season pass? I've heard about an "early bird" pack, but nothing about what it is.

Just a few extra infusions at the beginning of the game, along with a few more equipment and a Machine Gun + Pistol Upgrade.

"The Instant Day 1 bonus pack contains four pieces of exclusive gear, a Machine Gun Damage Upgrade, a Pistol Damage Upgrade, a gold skin for both weapons and five Infusion bottles that allow players to increase their health, their shield durability or their ability to use Vigors by increasing the quantity of Salts they can carry."

The extra infusions gave me a quicker way to get the achievement of getting one of the three complete(I got salts to level 10)

I picked up the season pass before starting my new game. The infusions give a huge advantage. I'm sitting at shields 10 and I feel like a tank.

I loved the first bioshocks in rapture, but when a third was announced I thought to myself "please don't ruin the franchise". They didn't ruin it, they raised it even higher in the awesomeness. The only thing that disappointed me is the gameplay. But what really kept me playing is the story, beautiful and complex. The kind of story people will talk about during months. I'm not joking, there are hundreds of pages on bioshock forums. Everybody has their own personnal opinion about what happened.

And that's what makes this story so special to me, as nobody experienced the ending the same way, the possibilities are infinite.

I saw some people complaining about the price for a solo game, doing some maths to know if the 10-15 hours of campaign are worth the price. Of course if you can play a game for a very long time because there are many things to do ( like skyrim, fallout and other games full of sidequests that you can play for hundred of hours) it's great. But the thing that makes a game worth its price is how much fun you had while playing, how entertained you were by the story and how immersive it was.

And if you're not sure about buying it, you can wait for a better price. Because it's a solo game, the price tends to lower faster than the multiplayers ones.

i get the feeling that a lot of ideas were taken out of the game. for the first part of the game you get a lot of choice options and i got the feeling that they were heading somewhere, and maybe even leading to different endings, but then suddenly they just stopped, like they binned the idea...
