Not since Chewbacca got arrested for creating Wookieleaks did anything excite me as much as Kerbal Space Program / Dead Rising 4 / RUINER in a bundle!
At this point I'm just subscribed for extra wallet credits from Humble Indie Bundles. I find this meh, but I'm still too lazy to cancel my sub.
Tempted to buy, I might be, or I might not. Guide me, the force must.
"Luke… I'm reading a great book about Force Levitation.. I can’t put it down – but I'll at least cancel my sub."
Not convince me to purchase the bundle, this does. Try harder next time.
I'm certain they'll uncover a certain Star Wars themed free to play MMO as a Late Early Unlock. Oh wait, that's not on Steam.
Why did Anakin cross the road? Same as Humble, to get to the Dark Side! Vader = IGN confirmed.
At this point I'm just subscribed for extra wallet credits from Humble Indie Bundles. They haven't delivered the droids I look for in a long time. I find this meh, but I'm still too lazy to cancel my sub.

Bought for Ruiner. Don't care about the other two, but Ruiner had been on my wishlist for quite a while.

I must be missing something obvious, but is there a reason the poll options are all Star Wars themed?
Maybe just for the sake of it?

Looks like they're gonna stick with their triple early unlock, let's see if they also reach the 200$ MSRP again.

KSP has been on my wishlist ever since it came out, but never went below my monthly gaming budget. Super happy that it's in the monthly! :D Ruiner also looks quite fun. The original Dead Rising was amusing, curious how #4 will be. Good month! :D

good one, i want DR4
anyway what;s wrong with ign?

so far there's 1-3 AAA games from each monthly (either i have it or not) ill still buy it
still no price changes (based on last "selective" pool by hb)
and MORE free games, compared to last year

the only bad side is, ordinary bundle rather ordinary, only 1-2 games is good (bordering bad)
so, there's nothing wrong with HB i think. why the hate?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because people really dislike IGN.

Having a publisher and a review site under the same roof is fishy.

But there's no proof or any example of them taking advantage of it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

i dont really care about ign review site though (never bother read any, not just ign)
i only care about hb, it doesnt seem changed much even with ign
as long hb still provide AAA bundled games is enough (just dont increase it's price lol)

They were already thinking of doing that. They threw some surveys at random customers to see whether they'd pay more for the Monthly for less content and so on. So it might actually happen, we'll see.

PSA: Kerbal Space Program has changed hands and their Service agreement has changed. From one reviewer's mouth:

"This thing is on the new EULA they changed against who knows how many laws, enforcing it. As long as you are concerned about privacy and such things, DON'T BUY.
β–ΊThe information we collect may include personal information such as your first and/or last name, e-mail address, phone number, photo, mailing address, geolocation, or payment information. In addition, we may collect your age, gender, date of birth, zip code, hardware configuration, console ID, software products played, survey data, purchases, IP address and the systems you have played on. We may combine the information with your personal information and across other computers or devices that you may use.β—„"

Makes it seem so much less attractive now.

why would you give out payment info, name, address? if you buy from steam/humble bundle/etc. they dont share that info with publisher....

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I totally follow that logic, and I hope that's the case. I'd hate to activate the key, download, and then they require my info before I could play. That would be completely horrible. Anyone already have it want to chime in, any issues with the new version and getting access to the game itself?

I think Graymatter has it, sounds like some EULA for some mobile game(s), where all that would be more relevant.

The game is 100% offline. There's no place in the game where it asks for any personal (or non personal) info.

+1. I'm a yearly sub, so I'm getting the game in any case. I just won't activate it until I hear things change. I've heard great things about this game, so I'm not in a hurry to gift it (unless its to myself :))

The information that HB lists as a notification is usually not correct.
There is a sub that can be activated only in RU/CIS, and people who buy the bundle from a RU/CIS IP will get that sub, namely https://steamdb.info/sub/248619/
But apart from this, there is no sub that specifically excludes RU/CIS countries, which means that anyone who purchases the bundle outside RU/CIS will receive a ROW key (regardless of the Humble Bundle notification), most likely the Store sub, namely https://steamdb.info/sub/27437/

To be more clear:
If you purchase from RU/CIS you'll be able to activate the key only in RU/CIS.
If you purchase from outside RU/CIS, you will still be able to activate the key in RU/CIS, regardless of what Humble Bundle says.

3 wishlist games definitely = a great early unlock. Need more points on SG!! lol

Is Dead Rising 4 really that bad? I don't think I've seen a rating so low(50% positive out of over 1k steam purchase reviews) before on any HB bundle let alone a HB Monthly.

idk, as I never play games with zombies (except for Minecraft, on occasion). I'm not going to buy the bundle atm

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I've only played it on Xbox, but overall it's a pretty fun game. I think a big part of the game's negative score is from "sequel bias" or whatever you want to call it? Like, the other dead rising games are very specific types of games...4 does a lot of handholding and casualization for "console bros" But if you want to experience a pretty goofy zombie story, or just zone out killing zombies with some silly weapon combos, I say go for it. The biggest disappointment for me was that the "true ending" is locked behind a DLC.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wow, the devs actually locked the true ending behind a DLC? I'm sure you can't give me details or it would ruin it but I'm really curious now about the endings and what made it a "true ending".

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

basically all the other Dead Rising games ended on cliffhangers, and then would give you "Overtime Mode" which would have you go do some extra stuff and maybe fight a couple more bosses. Dead Rising 4 kept the cliffhanger ending...and then put what would normally be Overtime into the DLC. The devs tried to justify it by making the playstyle and abilities in the DLC a bit different (spoilers: you are turning into a zombiiiiiiie) but it's still pretty bullshit.

They did make up for a bit by offering a substantial free update just a few months ago...The Capcom Heroes or something similar sounding mode, apparently added a lot of achievements and maybe some extra replaybility? But eh, there are a LOT of zombie games on the market and a lot are better time investments than playing a mediocre game for the SECOND time.

I hate games like these that locks the true ending behind a wall of dlc's or microtransactions and they say that gamers pirate.well shit like these makes them do that (no offense intended)

It actually seems to mostly be due to the port being unstable. Almost every negative review I read talked about constant crashes.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Traded away my copy of Dead Rising 4 already for a copy of Death Road to Canada, and a few minutes later I get a message by someone basically saying I'm insane for trading a 'AAA' game for 'indie trash'. DR4 has so many people complaining in reviews about crashes I didn't want to even give it away on SG (and make someone keep a possibly non-working game in their library permanently), and its available right now in a bundle that's relatively cheap. But, apparently its still considered super valuable to some people? I don't get peoples sense of value sometimes.

Kerbal and Ruiner are awesome early unlocks though. :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I wouldn't say you're insane for doing that.. but the reviews have far less value to me when I'm getting the game in a monthly. If I have even a slight interest in it, I'm willing to give them a try, especially if it's from the Dead Rising franchise. Those reviews would have more value to me if I were buying it during a sale.

I don't know about DR4 (still sitting on the fence for this month), but DR3 had a "lazy" flaw, one that apparently took Bethesda less than 24 hours to patch, and can be solved merely by opening the task manager and closing a background process that the vast majority of computers don't even use

Permalink

If it makes you feel better, I'd do the trade as well. Death road to Canada is awesome!
Indie doesn't mean trash. Sometimes the quality will surprise you (eg stardew valley - a one person indie game with at least 50+ hours of content)
