Well if something isn't for sale in a region and you pirate it then the devs haven't lost any money so where's the victim ?
No victim, no loss, no bad :)

This.
Same goes for games that are out of production and unavailable for purchase elsewhere(like gog).

If they are available from GoG then they are NOT unavailable. You can still legally buy them, therefore you should. Especially when they are being sold for <$10, there's no reason not to buy them.

Look again... they didn't say that being on GOG means it's not available for purchase. They were just giving an example of where you can purchase something out of production.

Technically speaking, devs (except Indie devs) don't loose any money since they are hired on a contract an get payed no matter what. The publishers are those who loose money.
Also, even if what you say is correct (and it is) publishers count all illegal downloads, even if they don't sell the game in all regions. That's how they come up with those outrageously huge numbers.
But NO. He is not wrong.

obviously NOT. Developers are bad for discriminating against your country.

It's kind of an unspoken rule that if you absolutely can't get the game in your country, then it's not wrong since it's not like you even could have supported the devs.

If it bothers you, have a friend in a country with it purchase a copy for you.

I see no problem with this. It's hardly costing the devs/publishers anything as you couldn't pay them if you wanted to.
If it does come out for sale later, and you liked it, I would buy it at that point.

Would you be a bad person if you'd subverted their wishes and used a VPN in another country to buy their game? If it were me, I'd send a cheque/cash to their office; You don't have to say what it's for.

Staggered release times just encourage piracy. In a digital age, it makes very little sense to release games on a piecemeal basis, and practically guarantees that you will:
(i) Make your company deeply unpopular in all the regions you have dicked on release day
(ii) Encourage piracy amongst users who would probably pay for your game, were it available
(iii) Go to that special extra-hot circle of hell, reserved for ballbag companies and their staff, with nothing to look forward to other than eternity with only EA and Ubisoft for company, receiving red hot pokers in any available orifice from the mass-murderers, child molesters and lawyers, forcibly turned to the dark side by your skewed release dates.

Far cry 3 is still not out in the U.S but has been out for a couple days elsewhere...and has had server issues with peoples saves disappearing, excellent devs :-D!

I heard that it's a bit of a standing joke within the Ubisoft offices that Uplay is often referred to as "Ucan'tplay"...
Also Ubisoft are well known to run a biometric test as part of their recruitment process. An oversized middle finger is highly desirable, and will give you a huge advantage over other, less well endowed, candidates.

Yeah...haha, they are also the ones who instead of fixing one of there games released a reloaded(pirate group) crack to make the game work...think it was a rainbow 6 game.
Isn't that kinda like piracy/copyright infringement ;-P?

Yup - Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.
Ubisoft may hate its own fee-paying customers, but relies on pirates for bug fixes and tech support...

I wouldn't say you are because they haven't even bothered putting it on sale in your country so its their mistake
