Make sure to get Blood Dragon as well. it's, in my opinion, the best thing to come out of the Far Cry series. It's pretty short, and just entertaining all the way through.

At first, I dismissed Blood Dragon because I'm usually not that much into science fiction, but eventually picked it up because it was cheap. I'm so glad I did, it's definitely my favorite FC title ever. Cheesy, tongue-in-cheek, full of pop culture reference, what's not to love? I wish Ubisoft would make another one like that.

what's not to love?

The constant darkness vs red tinted world vs bright neon stuff hurt my eyes :c The length was pretty nice, just what I needed after FC3 to "phase out" the open world stuff

I've checked FC6 and it has 4 different editions! They have completely lost it.

I've played them all. My personal rating which nobody will agree with lol:

5 > 4 > 3 > Primal > BD > ND > 6 > 2 > 1/Instincts > Insticts Evolution

I take it back though. I've never played Predator or Vengeance.

5 really resonated with me. And the ending was my favorite.
4 had the coolest setting IMO, and Pagan Min was probably my favorite main antagonist in the series.

If you own anthying in this bundle do NOT buy the bundle. If you add up the games you you do not have the price will be less then the bundle price. Edit at least in my case it was almost 3 dollars less to just buy the ones I was missing instead of the bundle.

can you provide some proof, as it's Steam bundle (not sub) and should discount every game owned (unlike when there is some sub/bundle included, like with DOOM Franchise Bundle)

I own Far Cry 1-3 and the reduced price is calculated accordingly. So it is a pretty good deal.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Far Cry 3 has got an 85% discount twice before, so there were better opportunities.

In my opinion that's the best entry ever, followed closely by the 1st (yes, it's rather different from the rest of the series, but it was still amazing when it came out, way better than Doom 3 for example) with maybe 4 as the 3rd best.

How does one compare Farcry 1 with Doom3?
I played and finished both. They are not even in the same genre.

  1. Both are FPS games :)
  2. Both came out in 2004.
  3. Both had cutting edge graphics at the time of their release.

So basically CS:GO and Far Cry 3 are the same games and they are comparable because they are both FPS and both came out in 2012 lol

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, Far Cry 3 has a pretty good story while CS doesn't have any at all. One of them is single player and the other one is MP only.
Would never compare the 2 :)

Just to remind you: he said "not even the same genre" :D

I compared 2 single-player FPS shooters, both with revolutionary graphics and a story.

You brought a multiplayer only FPS with no story into the picture (or if you please: a rhino into a 'giraffe-only' safari :))

Comment has been collapsed.

I recently played it from start until its end, and the story is... fine? White boy in the jungle going gung-ho story is somewhat bad, but as the CIA agent says "out there, in the jungle, the synapses in our brains go dark, little by little you forget where you're from, who you are". It adds a little interesting turn to how Jason turns out during the story. Every antagonist was pretty well-written, and presented adequately. I heard about Vaas and Hoyt beforehand, but Buck's character was also way better than it was needed for a jungle-shootup game.

Discount may be huge on the paper but the games looks all the same, buy 1 or 2 of them and you're done with the whole franchise ;)

You literally just said that you either like them all (so it's good to buy all), or you like them none :P
Cozy familiarity can actually be a selling point, I played 3, Blood Dragon and Primal so far, have the 2nd to be played, and I'm pretty sure I'll get at least 4 as well, and who know which one else ^^

Well first of all the thing about Ubisoft deleting stuff is about them deleting whole accounts for being inactive, not individual games from accounts like you claim.

Secondly I still own every single game I've ever bought or gotten for free on uPlay / Ubisoft Connect. Some of which I have played the last time ages ago. Some of which I have yet to play.

And last but not least, Tomb Raider is not a Ubisoft franchise, they certainly don't sell it currently and I haven't heard or seen they ever did, so I don't know how you would have gotten any Tomb Raider game on uPlay / Ubisoft Connect in the first place, free or not.

Only very few Ubisoft games in general have achievements on Steam, mostly the newer ones but even then not all of them. And: yes, none of the Far Cry games does.

With no achievements and having to launch two clients to play the games, I don't really see the point in buying Ubi games on Steam.
I usually buy them on resellers directly for the Ubisoft platform. Is it a drag? sure. Can it be helped? Not really.
It's a good price if you don't own any of the games.

With no achievements and having to launch two clients

Over the last 10 years or so, I've found myself buying more Ubisoft games for my Playstation than even PS exclusives. No achievements aren't a massive deal breaker for me, but having them does add a bunch of replay value, especially in open-world games with lots of objectives and collectables. Massive dick move for Ubisoft not to include them on Steam. Microsoft, Sony, and hell even EA are cool with it, though I guess if you go back a ways there are a decent amount of EA games that don't have them.

Yep I mean... There are Ubisoft achievements so it's fine but no point in going through the hassle of playing the games through Steam.
I guess that''s the point. It's sometimes hard to say with Ubisoft. I like their games, the marketing/management side of the company is where things start to be more of a problem.

I guess if you go back a ways there are a decent amount of EA games that don't have them.

I think it's more because they don't want to bother with older games even though they are fine with the extra sales.

Speaking of old school, I love your new avatar :)

Agreed. The medium has probably never been more full of anti-consumer practices and just plain baffling decisions, and Ubisoft still manage to stand out, which is an impressive (and pathetic) feat. But yeah, the games are generally a good time.

I like my new avatar too! Thanks. I've always liked yours as well.
