I thought that buying and trading games from the Steam store during sales would net me a lot of profit. So I bought tons of RAGE which was on sale at 75% off, but in the end I traded for mostly games which I activated myself anyways. And I bought them at $5 each, when I could have bought them at 2 keys ($4) each if I got them from a Russian. Depleted about $45 of my Steam wallet earned through my Dota 2 tradings.

I'm guilty of always accepting "friend" requests and asking what these people want. And after that I'm just too lazy to delete them.

i sold 3x metro last light for earbuds, a key and some trash items. and this guy did this trick where you change the offer right before the trade would have been done, add a key and replace the buds with a similar looking item (icicle). of course i only looked at the key that was added and didn't see that in fact this douche had removed the buds. so i basically sold 3x metro ll for a key. won't fall for that again. and i keep the icicle in my inventory to remind me of my ultimate fail. ^^

Buying games that are on sale, while knowing I'm not going to play them.
Sigh...

I should have added, most dont last very long. Most of the time it's.. 'can you do me a favor' and we all know about what kind of favor they are talking :p
And you aren't a random, I still remember you! :x I'll still rarely pop up in the Dude & Dudette's chat :p

A couple of times I thought 'Oh, fuck it, I burned enough and I'll purchase this the next sale' - of course, games got removed from Steam (Neverwinter Nights 2, Anno 1404, Emergency 2013, Deadpool etc), developer packs got removed or are not discounted anymore as much they were two years ago and so on...
If I knew the Star Wars collection with discount -66% was a freaking price error and since then the collection won't be discounted even at the usual 50%, I wouldn't want to kick myself whenever I think about it now.

That's me too :P I will buy the entire collection of the game and its DLCs (eg. Fallout 1,2,3) even when I probably won't enjoy the older games in the series. Well I didn't even enjoy Fallout 3 because it was really confusing (probably playing it wrongly, will try again next time) and ended up uninstalling all of them and moving to another game.
I have like more than 15 unplayed good games and I'm still looking to clear my wishlist of 10+ games :P

Try steam help? Maybe they can revoke it into your inventory? Worth a shot.

Just did mine today.
Bought the Rockstar Bundle on Green Man Gaming this morning, already owning some of the titles. I then proceeded to activate the keys for the games I didn't own and was left with some spares. Rather than copy/pasting my newly spare keys straight into into the file I keep them in, I decided to check them first.
I often try keys for stuff I already own, looking for the "Product already owned message" just so I can see that the keys sent were for the correct games. Well, I'll not be doing that any more! Already owned Max Payne 3 and you can imagine my surprise when my Max Payne 3 key actually activated.
Turns out I had a Max Payne 3 (ROW) on my account and this new key was for Max Payne 3 (WW). Whilst I knew there were different regions, I didn't know you could actually activate 2 keys of the same game from different regions on the same account. Total waste of a key. Lol, what an idiot.
So what's the dumbest thing everyone else has done? Anyone else been as stupid as me?
