For clarification, sgtools isn't perfect. As an example, the value caps at $100.

now it takes value from steam, so value caps at 100$ only for games removed from steam

Okay thanks, I see that now. It used to list me as level 8 but now it lists at level 9. So better, but still an imperfect system

Wait what? cg already stated multiple times that every entry will be equal. Not to mention that this idea is pointless, we already have contributor levels for limiting giveaway spread.

So why should one even register if he knows that everyone has better odds to win... =/

I like the idea of being able to give good contributors higher chances of winning giveaways, but I don't think cg will implement anything like what you suggest, since the Steamgifts "policy" is that all entrants will always have the same chance of winning.

There are already some options to filter to people with good ratios: whitelists, Steam groups, and (to some extent) the CV/Level restricted giveaways system.

Ratios are overrated though. Instead of limiting people to numbers and potentially attacking/excluding people with bad ratios, I'd rather just make friends. If this site went down permanently at some point, what would lots of people here have to show for it? There's lots of ugliness here over nothing.

I try to do a little of everything. I've done low or no level AAA giveaways, group giveaways, hidden (puzzle/forum link) giveaways, and recently a few whitelist and higher level public giveaways. I haven't done any specific "high ratio" giveaway, but if there would be the option I would probably do at least one or two.

As for meeting new people, that's awesome. I've made a few friends all over the world. Mostly from giveaways in the forum though.

You can use your whitelist for that, by adding only people that meet your criteria.

i think we already have enough tools to filter out people we don't want, blacklist, whitelist, lv-req, group.

this will add more drama to the "high-lv elitists leave out low-lv users".

I'd really like an option to have a ratio based filter in addition to a level based one. Then again I don't like the idea of 'asymmetric' entries. So just the limitation who can enter without the increased odds would be really welcome.

This. Not being able to enter some giveaways would serve as a similar incentive to users as increased odds, and it would also fit the policy of this site better.

I don't think this would be done due to increased server load. Instead of random (n) it would have to do sum (1 -> n) entry probabilities. Then random (sum) then iterate through all the entries to see where the number falls.

^^^ This.

The math is simple, for one user. Evaluate it for 1000 entries and it will impact performance on an already strained system.

Pass, bad idea, it is steam GIFT :)), make a whitelist, entry chances should be the same. lvl is for the ones that need some criteria, but a gift should be a gift..., true there ar bad people out there but this should not define the rest, eventualy people who dont activate the game should pe sanction more drasticaly but then again... is a gift..

No. Just... no way.

What is Steamgifts? It's a website which provides a free fair raffling system, in order to randomly pick a winner from a list of entrants. Many users have been using it to give to the community as well, since it's a great way to give every user a fair and equal chance of winning.

Your idea may seem good, but let's admit it - this is going against the entire concept of what Steamgifts is.
I personally don't ever visit GalaGiveaways and SteamCompanion. Why is that? Because some giveaways there allows multiple entries. Seems pointless to create a giveaway if not every entrant get a fair and equal chance of winning.

Apart from that, can you imagine the confusion and changes that would require to the website? First of all, explaining how it works and making sure that everyone understands it. Obviously, some users won't read and the "why does high level users win more" question would pop up in the forum constantly. And like stated above, this would probably cause some "drama" about unfair chances and that kind of stuff.

And to be perfectly honest, if such a change would be implemented to Steamgifts, I'd probably just pick up my shit and leave. :P

Yeah, I don't think this goes with the spirit of the site. Plus, if it worked that way, new users would be very unlikely to join if they don't have a chance to win. It would become a grandfather club, where only the old blood with tons of giveaways win anything. Plus, it would lead (possibly) to key dumping bundle trash hoping for better wins.
