It's all over the news and they're saying that something like a coup is happening and that the turkish army is responsible. Just wondering if someone from Turkey could enlighten me about this matter. o.O

NEWS:

Military took over the TRT ( Turkish National TV Channel ), and made an announcement saying this was a COUP and those who are responsible for the misguidance of government will be judged and people will be kept safe at all costs.

Military declared curfew.

And our president Erdogan said everyone should go to streets to show military how we should protect our government. It looks like he is trying to start a civil war.

Also ATM's are going down one by one, everyone is trying to withdraw money right now and I only have 5$ cash.

Soldiers and F16's are fighting with POLICE of the country (Police is known for their loyalty to the government, most people call them "government's dogs"). I saw a jet spraying in front of the palace.

I'll keep you posted but internet is extremely slow and it can go down in any minute. I just hope it succeeds, it's the only chance of this country ...

Not yet, every Erdoğan supporting channel is saying everyone should go to streets to stop soldiers. There are videos of bearded islamic ignorants jumping over the tanks, soldiers are extremely careful not to hurt anyone even though they DO hurt the soldiers.

Erdoğan literally calls everyone upon to attack the soldiers, he never cares about the safety of civilians.

It's mostly on Ankara, our capital where the ministers are. The military would never harm innocents unless they attack them so everyone seems safe for now. Ironically, Erdoğan supporters attacked some reporters in Istanbul because they "support" military though they were from a channel known for their loyalty to the government.

Those who stay in home should be safe, just don't go outside.

Honestly that was my first thought, "What kind of leader uses civilians as pawns to protect his power so directly?" Too many throughout history I'm afraid :/ He ought to have told everyone to stay indoors or shelters somewhere...not run out into the streets and get caught in a crossfire of the military and govt/police forces >.>
Stay safe friends.

He's connecting to TV programs with Skype Video, from an extremely safe area and saying everyone should go to streets and attack soldiers to regain our democracy.

He doesn't care about the safety of civilians at all, he counts on them getting hurt so he can use it against the military to gain more support.

It's sad to say & maybe a bit soon but it's something the world has to go trough. 10-30 years from now this moment we live in will be viewed as a shift in geopolitical power. Since technology has spread around the globe trough internet, cellphones, advanced transport etc., the countries that were dominant before have been losing international power & some countries that were powerless/exploited in the past seem to be catching up with the rest of us. I'm quite sure eventually we'll know who was behind Isis & all this chaos around the globe because of our advancement in technology false flags are easily debunked trough evidence. The only thing I fear is that in the not so distant future all of this will lead to racism & discrimination & it's being spread rapidly trough social media just as the Isis ideology.

Citizens responded to Erdoğan's call, they're all on the streets military falls back in order to keep civilians safe. Military isn't well-organized, everywhere is AKP members (Erdoğan's party supporters), it looks like military is falling back.

Military removed the soldiers from Atatürk Airport. There seems to be massive organizational errors and everyone says coup won't succeed. It'd end up in a bloodbath if it fails ...
