Until they remove all the dumb crap or have it come to Steam, I'm not getting it.
Screw you Origin, and screw you battlelog.net and your crappy webbrowser menu.

Even if it did come to Steam you'd probably still need Origin (similar to how you still use Games for Windows Live on certain games)... and there's no escaping Battlelog since that's a huge part of the game.
I totally agree with you though, it's some poor choices there. Them trying to get Origin on my computer with Battlefield 3 does not make me want to buy anything through it but rather the opposite. Good deals etc. is the way to convert people not this.
Not as offended by Battlelog... but I do agree that it's "less than" how it used to be. They could have made an in-game interface with the same features etc. but instead opted for a web-based Battlelog. Not because it's better for us gamers but because it's easier for them to make and maintain. That's not progress, that's just lazy.
Not a huge fan of the whole Back to Karkand pre-order bonus either. Basically it boils down to either pre-ordering the game or having to pay more money later to get the expansion pack (because you just know all the servers will be running those maps in the rotation by that time).
... still, all that said. Love Battlefield so I guess I'll wade through all the garbage surrounding it.

Yeah, no matter how not-bad origin is (I still have seen nothing showing how its good) I refuse to get the game because they are trying to force me to use Origin instead of giving me incentive to use Origin. All stick really doesn't work with me.

In the case of BF3, it is useless. The chat system is not connected to the chat system on battlelog. The only thing it does really, is to keep your game up to date. Does it poorly as well, but I am nitpicking. Even the friend lists are not connected. Utterly useless application, I wish it could close after I quit BF3... so enraging I feel I could strangle an EA representative with my bare hands, hell, I could probably strange one with each hand.

I was pissed to find out I cant even install the game without being logged in to origin. I get home from the midnight release to see my internet is down, and it wont let me install. And steam wont let me uninstall anything. I really hate this internet connection required bull. Bring me back to the 90's please.

It won't be available on Steam because of Origin. Sad but true.

Forced to launch Origin to launch battlelog is a drawback (even if you're already logged into battlelog), but not one that's going to stop me from playing. Battlelog itself has potential but how effectively it is used by both EA and the players remains to be seen (though I see very little downside to it from the alpha/beta).

GameTrailers Battlefield 3 Review
Battlefield 3
Battlefield 3 (commonly abbreviated to BF3) is a first-person shooter action video game, being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and to be published by Electronic Arts. The game is set to be released on October 25, 2011 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and EA Mobile confirmed a port for the iOS platform. It will not support versions of Windows prior to Windows Vista. It is a direct sequel to 2005's Battlefield 2, and the eleventh installment in the Battlefield franchise. The PC release will be exclusive to EA's Origin platform.
Battlefield 3 will feature the maximalist combined arms battles that made the series popular across single-player, co-operative and multiplayer modes. It will reintroduce several elements absent from the Bad Company games, including fighter jets, the prone position and 64-player battles on PC. To accommodate the lower player count on consoles, the ground area will be limited for Xbox 360 and PS3, though fly space will remain the same.
During an interview with Game Informer Magazine, EA stated that Commander Mode is unlikely to be included, which was met with some criticism on the EA forum.
The game will feature maps set in Paris, Tehran, Sarajevo, Sulaymaniyah, New York, Wake Island and Oman.[citation needed] As a whole, combat will take place in urban streets, metropolitan downtown areas, and open landscapes suited to vehicle combat.
Battlefield 3 will introduce the "Battlelog"; a free cross-platform social service with built-in text messaging, voice communications (VOIP), game statistics, and the ability to join games that friends are already playing (though both players need to be on the same platform).
