how so? the person is supposed to redeem the key but since he did not, and made a new giveaway with the same key, the giveaways were voided and the person who owns the key can do whatever he/she wants with it.
Edit: I see what you mean because of the person who won the giveaway will not get the key, but there are multiple comments telling the people not to enter so it is their fault for entering. (unless of corse they do not speak/understand english)

If you make a giveaway, the responsibility of providing the game is on your head. If something goes wrong, like in this case the key wouldn't work, you have to buy a new copy and sort it out. That's my opinion on the matter anyway. So I think that what Pitoni did was commendable.

Mm'kay, let me give my two cents on the matter. So I suppose I did something wrong, and I deserve to be banned. I guess this is my fault for not reading the rules. The fact of the matter is, I won a giveaway for a game that I was never going to play. I was trying to do a good deed by giving it away to somebody else who would appreciate it, and now that person's going to get an invalid activation key and think that I purposely did this to him or her. Why should that person be deprived from a game they justly won, instead giving it to some ninja on the forums? I understand that what I did was wrong, that ignorance of the rules is no excuse for disobeying them, and that I should be banned...I just wanted to give my side of the story, I suppose.

Why enter for something you do not want? Thats the real question...

Thanks for your side of the story. I will not bash you too hard, but why did you enter if you were never going to play the game? This is something I do not understand.
Edit: Not to mention, you have done it 4 times now.

I'm relatively new to Steamgifts, and have only been using the site for about a month of so. Rather than entering giveaways for the games I want the most, which often have really poor odds of winning, I enter for games that I think I'll have the best shot of winning. When I do win a game, I decide if it's something I'm interested in playing. If not, I give it away to increase my contributor value to enter giveaways with even better odds. Now that everyone's mad at me, I actually took the time to read the rules and have realized that what I did was a violation of at least two or three different rules. So yes, I deserve to be banned, but I think people are getting carried away in calling me a heartless scumbag and things like that.

I read the rules today after I saw everybody flipping out over my giveaway, since this is the first time I've seen something like this happen. Yes, I was at fault for not reading the rules, I will admit that. On most sites it seems like the rules are something that nobody really reads, like most websites' terms and conditions, since online rules are often similar from one site to another (no offensive language, scamming, flaming, etc.)

Common sense must not be your strong suit. You realize by entering games you dont want and winning them that you are pretty much stealing the chance away from someone who would have enjoyed or truly wanted the game right?
Comment has been collapsed.
Harsh. I already know I'm going to be banned, is it really necessary to kick me while I'm down by insulting my intelligence? The way I look at it, the odds of somebody who wanted the game receiving it hadn't really changed at all. One person lost an opportunity, yes, but when I created my giveaway, one person gained an opportunity. The odds of somebody who wanted the game receiving it remained constant.

Forgetting the part where you scam the site to get into higher contributer giveaways that are reserved for people who are actually giving stuff away out of their own pocket? Not from trickery...

Those aren't always going to be the same ppl who's chance to win was taken away. Maybe 5% to 8% will be the same. You can look at it anyway you want but as long you admit to it i guess and realize what has to be done then contact support to have your old giveaway deleted. Honestly, if i wanted such a game really badly only to find out this happened I'd probably be banned before you would. Again, just contact support and you'll get a response within a month.

Oh god...how could anyone ignore that laugh track.

Given that it would appear you've done it more than once, I don't really find much truth in your little confession.
Also, there's a giant hole in your "logic". You were never trying to do a "good deed" because if that were the case you wouldn't have entered a giveaway for a game you held no interest in to begin with.

Perhaps I didn't word that very well. I didn't enter that giveaway with the intention of doing a good deed. After I won, however, I figured I should give the game away to someone who would appreciate it, rather than letting it rot in my library never to be played.

You should have told the one who created the original giveaway to ask support for reroll.

I agree with you on the "good deed" part.
For me, a good deed would have been to check out a game before you enter a giveaway for it. You need to decide if it's something you want/ intend to keep before entering. What you basically did (in my personal opinion) is screw over all the other participants in the giveaway that you won when it was a game you had no interest in.

as I said before to uhhsan
"Let me do like this then, I will give another Key from this game to the winner of his giveaway, I bought many bundles so I could give in here, BUT I want that guy banned. Sounds fair?"
If support can give me the winner of his giveaway.

LOL, and the winner was giving away Guns of Icarus beta keys. He's going to be banned too.

The support on this site has taken a nosedive and all the people breaking the rules WILL get away with it. I've had a similar situation happen to me and my support ticket has been open for over a month and still the ticket remains unanswered along with no punishment for the winner.
If you're a scammer/rule breaker now is the time to scam this site because you'll get away with it...

To those who replied to me, doesn't matter that I missed he is giving another key to the winner. He is still doing something the support should do. Once he gives away the key, it no longer belongs to him. No matter what his motive is, it is a dick thing for both of you to give away something you have already given away. The community here is becoming horrible. Fake giveaways everywhere. Non-Steam games (beyond just BF3 and Minecraft). I just won a fake giveaway. Makes everything feel so much worse when scammed.
I don't care what you say anywhere a few messages up. No, I didn't read any of the other posts other than the main one. People like you, Pitoni, ruin this community.

Support is currently severely understaffed - as in, it's being handled by a single person the OP tried and was unable to contact. It was a time-sensitive matter, so he couldn't really wait. And he found a solution where the only person harmed in the whole affair was the person who blatantly violated the rules in an effort, by his own admission in this thread, to game the contributor system. How is this a bad outcome?
Comment has been collapsed.
Agreed. If it was a different key (ie winner loved game so much he bought another one) then pitoni's ninja key would have been already redeemed and invalid. However if it wasn't and was being regifted it would then become invalid for the regifting giveaway. Very elegant in my opinion.

Here's what I do when gifting keys: Send an email to the winner with a fake key. If he says "thanks" or marks as received, he's a damn dirty liar. When he calls you out on the fake key, give them the real one and apologize for the security measure.

When someone breaks one the base rules three times, they deserve a ban.
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand what you are saying, but ban is permanent, maybe a suspension first? some time unable to use SG?
Yeah the three times does make it worst. But let's leave it to the support to decide if it should be a suspension or a permanent ban.

a lot of people re-gift, specially if it's trade-able, it's not the worst thing that happens on this site, most people that enter the giveaways will never play the game, asking for Ban is a bit harsh.
And your not really doing that different from him buying 1 dollar bundles creating separate giveaways with the keys to get more contributor points.
Didn't you read the rule that says bundle keys should be given Away by email gifting the bundle and not give away keys.

In my opinion, not activating the gift you have won and trading or re-gifting it is the most capital offense you can do here. I see it as taking the gift and spitting in the face of the original gifter.
If one changes his/her mind and does not want the gift, just ask for re-roll.
Comment has been collapsed.
Depends. I usually don't activate it until I want to play it because I don't want to clutter my massive collection :)
That being said, I would never regift...

I can understand that you want to keep some level of orderliness but it is hard to distinguish between users who are just keeping won item in their inventory and users who are planning selling/otherwise using it.
It would be just safer to activate the game as soon one wins it. Also from FAQ: 'The submitter and winner(s) of the giveaway have seven (7) days to complete the gifting process. This includes the activation of the gift on the Steam account of the winner.' So be careful not to break this one.

So I created a giveaway, and the winner just received the game (cd-key) and started a giveaway for the same game.
I sent a report.
Will it be on time?
P.S. I know the CD-key, should I mess him up? I thought I could write here for some ninja to grab it.
EDIT: I will wait until there is like 10 to 5 minutes to the end of "his" giveaway, if support doesn't say anything I will give the CD-key here. If he is giving a key different from the one I sent him, which I doubt, the NINJa will not be able to redeem it on steam.
Well, I tried to talk to CG, but no success so here it goes:
Death To spies & Death To Spies: Moment of Truth ( 2 games ) - 7DBX6-Z2T0G-6CDTB
Please comment if you redeem it.
Thanks all.
EDIT 2:
After all this, Park received the Key, and already redeemed, so I'm closing this thread.
Thanks everyone for the comments.
