I have $7.85 on my steamwallet, and I'm planning to buy skyrim. Is the game okay even without DLCs? I want to buy the legendary edition but I'm a broke student and I can only purchase the base game. Opinions please? I'm planning to buy the DLCs after I earn some money (maybe next steam sale). Thanks everyone! Btw, sorry for my bad english.

Which most of the worthwhile ones now require at least one of the DLCs...

Not true, most mods include a version just for the main game.

Yes. Game is quite good w/o DLC. As a student, you'll find plenty of time to procrastinate without any DLC. Plenty.

My parents allow me to play video games as long as I'm passing all my subjects with high grades.

Ya, but I am sure it was far far cheaper to buy LE that the main game plus DLC latter.

Wow, that is a huge price difference.

I would love the DLC, but you are right. The DLC might add like 5%, not really worth the 150% price increase (particularly if that means you just cannot afford it yet.).

I've put tons of time into Skyrim without the DLC, and I'm nowhere's near done with it all. You'll find plenty to do without them, and there are billions* of free mods on the Steam workshop and nexus to keep you busy forever.

*may not actually be billions

Edit: The only drawback is that so far the 3 dlc cost more than the Legendary Edition, so if that continues it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the Legendary Edition now.

Yes, but one reason that the base game is $8 and the DLC is so expensive is because the DLC is relativity new. They should come down in price.

Also, I do not think they are ever really necessary.

I bought the game before the legendary edition came out, but found myself buying the legendary to get the DLC during the sale. I'd save the money and buy the whole package when you can

Maybe I'll buy the DLCs or the whole package on next steam sale. I only buy games during sales.

The Legendary version is cheaper than the DLCs, so you should buy that then

Yep. I'll see if it's still cheaper than the DLCs next sale. If it's cheaper, I'll buy the legendary edition. :)

Saw you already got it, but I think you made the right choice. I got the game when it came out, never got around to getting DLC, and have refused to since then as it's only been 50% off, which is pretty weak. But I've played about 250 hours, in part due to mods, because there's so much content in the base game and mods improve or add so much.

Honestly I've heard the DLC is only ok, doesn't add anything crazy, and a mod like Falskar is as big or bigger than either expansion.

actually i've read that DLCs are pretty bugged, for example that expansion which adds vampires also adds random attacks on towns and villages, so after a few attacks they can kill guards or even merchants or other npcs, so you cant start (finish) side quests or sell stuff when that person is dead now :)

anyway, i've bought skyrim without dlcs, finished the main quest and finished also other big faction quests and i'm on nearly 100 hours...
