Nitro's whitelist stuff, with some random bundle stuff

I used to have a cat, a majestic cat! His name was Comet. When he was a kitten, he refused to wash himself and would eat and roll in poop. I would have to bathe him and get many scratches in the process. Thankfully, he outgrew that and became an amazing cat. He would play fetch with a tennis ball and loved rolling in water. One day, he was outside and a neighbor's pitbull got loose. He chased Comet into some shrubbery across the street and we heard a bunch of rustling noises, I was terrified, knowing that my precious cat had just been killed by that monster, when suddenly we heard a yelp and the pitbull jumped straight into the air, about 4 feet! Comet chased him out of the shrubs and back to his wretched house. Comet always had a bad habit of laying in the road. When he was either 17 or 18, it finally caught up with him. I still have the ceramic food bowl I made for him one year when I was a kid, it has etched into it "Marry Christmas Comet." I miss Comet. I hope one day to get another cat, but I doubt it will be even half the cat Comet was.

When I was growing up, we had a cat that was part Maine Coon, I think. She was sorta fluffy and had dense fur like one, anyway.

So, this cat, I think part of her thought she was part dog.

I mean, she did cat things like when I'd be working on a school project on the living room floor, she'd come over and specifically lay on my posterboard just because it was there. I'd move it, and she'd move to lay on it. She also would very carefully climb in the Christmas tree and drape herself along the branches near the trunk, and then occasionally come down to torment the Christmas train that went 'round the bottom. It wasn't even one of those excited torments, either. It was a cat superiority torment. You know what I mean. She'd lay there, casually watch the train pass a few times, and then just oh so casually put her paw on the track the next time it came 'round ... and she derailed it. Then she'd look at me like, "What?"

So, yes. She did cat things.

But she did this one thing that I've never seen any other cat do.

This cat played fetch. I'm not kidding.

We had these little golf ball sized whiffle balls that were made specifically as cat toys, I guess. The whiffle ball part is important.

So, one day, I accidentally kicked the ball across the kitchen linoleum when walking in from the living room, and she chased after it, picked it up and brought it back to me. I looked down at her, confused.

So, I sat in the archway between the kitchen and the living room, and she sat next to me. Then, I'd roll the ball across the linoleum toward the sliding glass door to the patio, and she'd take off and chase it, sliiiiiiiding the last few feet across the floor to thump into the window with her side as she scrambled to get the ball. Then she'd trot back to me with the ball in her mouth, one of her 'kitty fangs' in one of the holes in the whiffle ball so she didn't drop it.

I miss my cat who played fetch.

In my old neighborhood one day when I was out walking, I saw a cat in a tree that seemed to be stuck, so I picked it up (down?). Every time it saw me after that, it would follow me around on walks.
