I actually played it some the last time it had a free weekend. My honest opinion? It definitely seems... slow and grindy.
Like I have to sit there for ten minutes just to drill open a safe, because it jams several times. Of course, there's skills that you can learn to speed things up, but it takes a while to get to that point.
I was however, only playing offline with bot teammates. Playing with other people that you know would probably make it infinitely more fun.

I think you found two critical points of the gameplay. It is designed as co-op game so company does indeed make it much more enjoyable. The problem with its core design, in my opinion, is that Payday in itself is just a glorified horde gamemode. Way too much emphasis is put into waiting and many of the design points in the system do not take this into account. The joke of broken drill loses its point quite rapidly.

I could'nt agree more with you. I mean, who is going to wait for 3 minutes at the vault door whilst raiding a bank at daylight.. the could have put some more objectives into the game next to ''only'' grabbing the cash and leave.

The problem is that many of the waiting points actually happen in the same spot. You get the vault open? Nice. Now drill open the next door behind the first one. That is simply poor and lazy level design. If you changed even the location, it could affect gameplay. Perhaps it is some level of nostalgia, but I recall the first Payday having more varied levels even if there were fewer of them.

shooting mechanics is best. game needs good PC n better internet connection(i can run payday 1 but payday 2 suffers from big fps drops)
as you would expect when with friend or group of friends it's more fun. n you get hooked on game like i'll play just to open this next useful skill and next..and next...

Lots of fun to play with friends.
Playing alone = boring.

Gets boring after a while. Stealth is interesting but they expanded more on shooting part rather than the more interesting stealth part of the game.
Unless you are running a good crew it's painful to play. Until you reach around 50-60 you are just deadweight to the team. Also heavily P2W now. Seriously they balance a lot of new stuff around paid DLC. Loads of guns is interesting in this game but 90% of them are useless and in any respectable Overkill and above crew they'll just kick you if you aren't running a shotgun+shotgun or sniper+shotgun combo for loud heists.
Post is very negative yes, but it is a good game. They just need to stop churning out DLC and actually do some bug fixing + proper balancing.

I partially understand their DLC strategy. I disagree with the content and balancing, though. As such, I do not really buy those DLCs.

I had a crack at it during this last free weekend and it was ok...I think it was better than I expected because I unknowingly played public games and I had a dozen or so randoms drop in and out as I played...not sure that I'd buy it though, unless it gets back down to the price it was just recently...though it IS making me rethink the plan I had for the Payday gift in my Steam inventory...

I used to play it, it is really fun for a while but once you've played it for a while it becomes repetetive. Also the huge amount of DLC is utterly disgusting.

Well i played in the free weekend and bought a 4 four pack for my friends too..Is a good game, but...well..now we need all the DLC's :C
i have to wait for a discount to get more maps and weapons :C
Today im a lvl 93 or 95 (don't remember) ghost main class, with a rifle and a silenced pistol
i will neeed to buy more payday 2 to my other friends xD

DLC price/value ratio is bit out of whack. Luckily for you, Payday 2 has common discounts.

Is it really a whole mag for a dozer? I haven't used SMGs for a long time. I'm just getting back into the game and am currently all about shotguns.

Preordering is the closest thing to gambling in gaming. You never know you what get. Instant kicks are a bummer. Searching for a team (as solo) is thus slightly messy ordeal. Player scene is quite healthy, so you will find one in the end, but there are likely few bumps in the road before that.

I wanted that game only because it is popular between my friends. I already have CSGO, so I am hesitate about buying it. If I finally buy DLCday2 (my friends called it DLCDay2 since there are tons of DLCs), it might because the game provides you a chance to play as evil.

It is a different angle for sure and nice change from saving the world yet again. Things end up a little absurd once you start to think about the numbers. In higher levels you can easily end up killing hundreds of law officers. Just to protect some single jewerly store in town. I think in Payday universe, being a cop is the most common occupation available.

DLCDay - Everyone is acting like PAYDAY 2 is the only game, which has DLC-s. I don't want to defend Overkill in a fanboy way, but I do appreciate, that they didn't left the game after release (as they did with PAYDAY The Heist), and they are always working on new things. Now think about it: Overkill has around 20 employees, who are working on PAYDAY 2 fixes, DLCs AND Free Heists. Those 20 people are not doing it for free, and since PAYDAY 2 doesn't have a monthly subscription, they don't see money, except if they make DLCs. Now go to the Steam Store, and count, how many "DLCs" are there, which they had given us for free. On top of that, there are a lot of other items, which they had given us for free. The Judge Shotgun is the best secondary shotgun in the game. It was free (CrimeFest okay, but everybody knows that it was rigged, like Spring Break) and available for everyone, who owns the game on PC. So I don'T know why people are bitching about PAYDAY 2. It's a fun game with friends, and I like it very much. Worth it's price.

I understand the DLC policy. It generates quite a lot of money for, what I think, is quite little work. I don't think that couple new weapons, skins and achievements are worth 1/4th of the base game price so I will skip them. Similar DLC strategy of pushing out lots of small packages (and giving some free) has been used with Magicka and Dungeon Defenders. It has its pros and cons. But I also understand that people get frustrated when the DLCs start to cost (together) four times the base game.

Payday 2 is great with friends! You might enjoy trying to stealth some heists alone sometimes though. I get kicked often from public lobbies so don't worry if you encounter that in your first few hours. Only DLCs you probably need is the Gage Weapon Pack Bundle.

Sniper + Shotgun DLC if you don't want kicked from Overkill lobbies.

I've bought now too, i'm enjoying the game. It's really fun, the only problem is thousand of DLC's that make you want more and more. The best of is wait for another sale and buy cheap. I'm already at level 30 playing 1 week online. :D
(of course i bought 2 or 3 dlc's)

i tried in the free weekend but i'm not toaly sure... i liked the first part a bit but the "matchmaking" is a bit strange... so i start my first job and a lot of higher levels are joining and startet shouting at me that i have to do this and that...

People might join lower level heists for various reasons. Some of the members are quite hectic and enjoy shouting, which is a shame.

It is slightly weird to do heist when a kid below of ten keeps shouting commands in Russian.

There was a free weekend recently for this game. I am interested hearing what people who haven't played it that much thought about the game. If you tried it, what is your opinion? If you haven't would you like to play it and for what reason?
Payday is over.
