Lv20 cap is by far the worst restriction.
The starter edition is designed to give you a taste of what the game has to offer (which frankly, is a literal fuckton).
A lot of those functions depend on how social you are in games. If you are pretty social, the restrictions are crippling.

Correct. Right now you can probably buy the full game (which includes all the current expansions up to Pandaria) for about $20. After the Legion expansion comes out, Warlords will get bundled into the $20 as well, but that's a ways off still. Then there's the monthly subscription.

You need to buy the game + pay each month, latest best offer I saw was 5€ for WoW without Warlord of Draenor with 1 month free, if you don't pay one month as far as I know you suffer the effect of the starter edition, idk if game won't allow you to log into youyr high level characters because I never played official WoW besides than trial. Also need to add that base WoW doesn't include all content, it won't include Draenor and Legion Expansions, so you need to buy them separately.

On the US realms it's about 36k for a month. I could passively make this with just garrison missions (5-10 minutes two or three times a day) in a month with two level 100 characters.
As for purchasing the game, WoW will be $4.99 and Warlords of Draenor will be $12.99 at GameStop on Black Friday. As mentioned earlier, you don't need to purchase the previous expansions anymore. You also can get an instant level 100 character if you preorder the new expansion, but if you've never played, I do suggest leveling to learn the class.
If I were you, I would make a starter account now and try out some classes. Depending on how much you play, you could likely get at least a few characters to 20 to figure things out and then you have a good start when and if you decide to get the game on Black Friday!

That's basically how drug dealers work. They give you your first hit, and when you get addicted they start milking you, now you have to buy your drug every now and then (monthly subscription). And sometimes they offer you newer, better, stronger drug (expansions).
But WoW is still fun :)

Any character above level 20 requires a monthly subscription or you can't play them. To add to what others have been saying.
Basically, if you want to do anything other than mess around on a level 20 (which can be a bit boring, honestly), you need to subscribe or buy a WoW Token for game time. Those can be expensive and you'd need to be a really high level grinding to get enough.

Eventhough i quit the game myself i still think its the best it has to offer in terms of mmo and its service /gamemodes/ pvp in MY OPINION<<< [remember just an opinion guys ;p] i played tera wildstar eso neverwinter [some in beta] althoug i do hear good things about guildwars
its been on sale several times but its 15 euros again it seems, but still 50 characters being able to play pve /rp/pvp and all kinds of other servers up to level 60 where u can get your own several mounts trough differnt classes and not having to pay for every new char slot or bagspace with rl money is quite a nice feature i think the basic free level 20 account limits a really big deal on what u can actually do so if u do want to try it out why not try it out for 1 month [try to get it on a sale and see if u like it

It's definitely viable for players coming from other MMO's with an AH service like Tera/GW2 and have experience with playing the market, the knowledge carries over once you're familiar with supply and demand. Doesn't take more than a couple hours to have enough for a token. Not for everyone but some of us find it fun.

So I just saw that I got a starter pack which lets me play the game. I saw the minuses of it, but I can play it, while before I had to purchase it, right?
You do not have access to the following while on the Starter Edition:
Expansion content (quests, zones, etc).
Characters above level 20.
Pet Battles.
Other chat channels and whispers to non-friends.
All guild-related functions.
Value added services (character transfers, faction changes, etc).
Party formation.
Trade, mail, or the Auction House.
Voice chat or Real ID.
What is the worst from this list?
