We're seeing a lot of complaints in support about people spamming comments multiple times. This seems to be linked to Chrome re-submitting comments when one refreshes a page after posting a comment. If you use Chrome, make sure you do something like click the thread title, giveaway comments link, etc. after making a comment if you're going to be refreshing the page. Likewise, it would be good etiquette to delete such duplicate comments if you do make a mistake. Thank you.

Good warning to put out. I've noticed it myself, but my Chrome flashes a big form resubmission screen in my face, which tells me it's trying to repost something, so I return to the forum a different route. Not everyone knows about it though.

The same happens in Firefox if you press "Submit Comment" many times. So, Firefox is not free of this ;)

This happens with any browser. How come you guys don't realize this?

When you refresh after doing an action that action is preformed again by the browser.

I use Firefox. I routinely refresh after posting comments and it never resubmits. The majority of these cases that I've seen have to do with Chrome, which is why I've addressed those users specifically.

I'm a Firefox user and can say it can resubmit, but prompts you to "resend" or "cancel" if you refresh a page that would fall to this issue.

Regardless, thanks for the post. I just saw last night a poster with ~12 repeats and was wondering what might be happening :)

Even if you don't F5, just by spamming the "Submit Comment" button it will post multiple times.

Same - I usually end up clicking in the address bar and hitting enter if I want to refresh the page so I don't put up a duplicate comment.

People write in complaints about other people accidentally posting twice?

The one I reported wasn't twice. It was Thanks! 20-30 times on a giveaway. In another context it's spam and post count padding but this is just an accident.

Good Firefox. :)

Yeah. And yet, fanboys somehow always get mad when reminded Chrome is both worse and how much user info it collects to send to Goggle without warning ^^

I sometimes get duplicate posts when I'm using chrome browser for mobile. I delete the second comment if I notice it.

Always wondered what would happen if I ignored that little warning when trying to refresh a page after posting on it.

They complain too much first about "thank you" so maybe lets write "fuck you" if they dislike it so much now about doubles. Well I think it would be easier to make a fix on the site. Write a script that will delete duplicates by itself. Bad day thats why i whine -_-

I think it would be easier to pay attention to what your posting instead of blindly posting.

This site is slow enough as it is without a script running in the background constantly scanning for duplicate posts.
