I totally get the appeal of farming trading cards to sell them. Even though the profit is small I imagine it eventually adds up. The only problem with this is you end up with a bunch of crappy games in your library. I'm debating on whether or not to farm cards, since it seems like everyone else does it.

Is it really worth trashing your library for a few pennies?

So do you think farming trading cards to sell is worth having trash in your library?

You should have a tool running while you do your usual stuff on your pc, and don't let it run because of some cards. Wouldn't make sense unless you don't pay the bill for the power is free.
I also know some that use a Raspberry or similar or already have a server for other things (mostly for their media collection in the home network) and use it additionally for farming.

Hard to say if it's really worth it. I've sold about 17€ worth of cards in the last year, but it took a lot of time and effort that I could have spent more wisely. Although ever since I discovered how many free games are given away all the time it's become a bit of an obsession and I quite enjoy figuring out how to sell cards for the most profit.
Leveling up a bit is good too though, since your drop chance for booster packs increases every 10 levels. I crafted a couple dozen badges during the summer sale without spending any money on cards myself, all I did was trade my unwanted/worthless cards for the ones I actually needed.

(btw I have one or two keys for games with cards that were given away for free, send me a message on steam if you want them :))

From the answers I've seen here, it seems to be worth the small amount of money you get if you get the cards from free games or games you're buying to play, like you said. The time and money put in to do more than that doesn't seem worth it. Honestly I'm probably going to level up a bit just because it seems as if some users don't take low level steam users very seriously which is a bit silly

If you don't mind I'd be happy to take them off your hands :) Added you!

Edit: Totally didn't realize we were already friends until I went on your Steam profile. I didn't know your username on here!!

you can set categories for the games in your library, so just make a categories named ''Z trash'' and all trash games are in a little headline at the very bottom of your library

Yep, it's worth it. After a while you can get a lot of them and you can sell them for money, trade them for games or TF2 keys or whatever you want. I don't know why is +1 to your game count bothering you, but you can hide the games from your library if you want. You can also remove them entirely but imo that's stupid, since you won't get booster packs from the game either.

I honestly don't get why people care about having crapy games in their libraries, it's not like I'm forced to play all that stuff and just having it doesn't cause me any harm. I just have categories to organize my games.
About farming, I'm only farming my alt account right now and mostly for leveling up my main.

is there any way of farming cards without adding time count to the game in question in your library? I mean, I know about the min 2 hours played, sure, but, I would prefer to just properly keep count of what games I actually tried and played, rather than just have like 4-6 hours in each game without even knowing what is all about and how much time I invested in it.

I think there's no way to avoid adding hours played, that's why I have an alt for farming, that way my main account doesn't get messy with the time played.

No you can't avoid gaining time unfortunately, what I do is keep a separate log of my playtimes on my phone, because I often leave games idling for hours at a time. Adding a start and finish date can be useful for reference too.

I rely on them to get Steam money because Steam wallet cards aren't sold in my country :(

Not if you go ahead and buy extra crappy games to farm them. But I'm doing quite well with the cards from the games I got (which are not few I must admit, but 99% of my library is well curated). I'd say go for it. Those Cents do stack up in the end and I'm finding putting cards on the market a chill thing to do every now and then.

I don't understand people like the OP.Trashing your library? Are you guys seriously this OCD that one crappy game in your library ticks you off?

OFC farming cards is worth it.You get free money and free tradables. It's almost always worth it to buy a game for a few cents just to farm the cards from it.And with all the bundles going on,you can literally use the cards to trade steam keys for bundle games that you want.Or you can sell the cards for steam wallet cash.Contrary to popular belief, cheap games are not always shit games.Or you can pimp your profile by creating badges from the free cards that you get.

Either way I don't understand why this is even a discussion.

Just some games I got for cards : Hitman:Absolution for 25 cards/Kingdom Rush for 15 cards/Lucius 1 a bunch of cards. And so on.I played and enjoyed all games.

Rather than removing the games from your library, you can simply set a tag and assign games you don't like to it.
I currently have a mess of tags like "Card Harvest", "To Play", "To Finish", "Cool Revisits" and "Garbage" \:3/

Pretty handy really, and having bad games in your account isn't some kind of horrible blemish. You can have them removed if it really bugs you though. Also consider that completing a badge out of those cards actually makes you eligible for random booster pack drops which is essentially more 'free money'. It never amounts to anything huge, but I had a spare £4 due to card harvesting at the start of the recent sale.

I don't go around collecting all the games JUST to farm cards.. generally if I get a bundle and I don't care for the game it ends up here. That said, when I do end up with meh games I farm em, sell em, and put the games in their own category.. (I don't remove them cause you never know..).

If it wasn't for the fact that I also craft badges, I'd probably of made some decent money by now, I mean not huge amounts, but enough for some good games. This summer sale I dumped a some cards and other items, and got ~$10 out of it.. Thats enough for a decent game on sale.

Should also add, this sale due to all the people crafting badges for more summer sale cards, I got several booster packs out of it. More free monies, ontop of the original card drops.
