I've been a bit busy lately and not here as much as I'd like. The reason? Well, I'm preparing for a Garage Sale this weekend and those of you who've read my previous threads (or comments) know my health issues are not good, so that takes all of my energy and has been causing quite a bit of stress. No worries though, but after this weekend I'll have a bit more energy to spare.

However, I'm taking a break to bring another discussion thread. Feel free to comment, reply to others and generally have a fun, interactive time!

What's one of your main hobbies other than gaming? What do you enjoy about it and how did you get started, absolutely feel free to ramble!

For me, anything creative is of interest, though I'm not naturally good at that stuff and am quite clumsy and un-dextrous. I've always been fascinated by all kinds of art, sculpting and creating of any kind. For me, seeing the amazing things humans can come up with in their creative pursuits is truly incredible.

What about you?

Let me just say that if you go through with the last one it will certainly hamper any further enjoyment from the first ones. So not a good idea.

What game are you working on?

Yes, please tell us about the game you're working one!

I mostly watch the mainstream popular anime these days, though ten years ago I was a big anime nerd.

Not sure if serious or joke, but please hang in there, I have had suicidal thoughts for 19 years and I'm still here. Please reach out and get help if you can.

I kinda stopped developing game nowadays. I'm doing weird projects on Unity instead. I wanna make some games but I don't have any good ideas nor the marketing budget.

Currently my hobby right now is to make Photoshop text styles. That and taking pictures of the sky.

I'm not sure what's left these days except for dancing, which I still try to do semi-regularly. Oh, and I regularly listen to audiobooks, because I can do that while driving. Other than this I just don't feel that I have enough spare time to do what I'd like to. I still try to watch movies, read, play games, and dabble in game development, but hardly get around to them (though I still manage to find time for them occasionally). I stopped writing a long time ago, and no longer practice karate.

I feel that. My partner works full time and never has any time for anything, it's pretty rough these days and I feel most people are struggling to find time.

Hope you get some more time soon!

It's hard to find time! Woodworking is an amazing hobby that I'm super interested in, but it's doubtful if I'll ever actually do it myself. It's difficult to get into when you don't have the tools and generally speaking I'm a clumsy person too. I think it's pretty amazing what you can create with woodworking though and I've seen some incredible stuff made out of wood that was just going to be thrown away.

Not at all. Couple of chisels, hand plane, drill, backsaw, square, few clamps, a sharpening stone and a kitchen table are more than enough to get you going. If you find someone who can tell difference between junk and usable tool, you can go shopping to big box stores or ebay and have all you need for peanuts. Or you may go straight for a Veritas or Lie-Nielsen brands - substantially more expensive, but guaranteed top quality. Start from there, see what you do most and only then buy more specialized tools suited to your way of working.

Finally, clumsiness is an excuse to not start. Yes, you will fail a lot. You will be making mistakes, a lot of them. But you will learn and gain skills in the process and one day you will notice clumsiness disappear. Been there, done that, luckily no scars ). Starting from I need machines and guides to make a straight cut I ended up in a place where a hand saw is my go-to cutting tool. So go for it, and take this advice with you: enjoy the work being done, the process of making and getting better. Let the finished item be a cherry on top, never a measure of success or failure.

Playing bridge. The fun part for me is that this game has no luck involved and no one to blame other than yourself. Another nice thing about bridge is that it attracts people I usually like :).
