I've been a bit busy lately and not here as much as I'd like. The reason? Well, I'm preparing for a Garage Sale this weekend and those of you who've read my previous threads (or comments) know my health issues are not good, so that takes all of my energy and has been causing quite a bit of stress. No worries though, but after this weekend I'll have a bit more energy to spare.

However, I'm taking a break to bring another discussion thread. Feel free to comment, reply to others and generally have a fun, interactive time!

What's one of your main hobbies other than gaming? What do you enjoy about it and how did you get started, absolutely feel free to ramble!

For me, anything creative is of interest, though I'm not naturally good at that stuff and am quite clumsy and un-dextrous. I've always been fascinated by all kinds of art, sculpting and creating of any kind. For me, seeing the amazing things humans can come up with in their creative pursuits is truly incredible.

What about you?

I'd say travelling, but unfortunately, it's not something you can do everyday, so I'll go for reading , hiking, and writing stuff no one will ever read :3

I write a lot...in my head. :P
I'm always full of grand ideas...
I'm working on a book, a few short stories, a song, and an instrumental piece...in my head :P
What do you write? Stories, poetry, songs?

Usually stories, sometimes poetry in my mother tongue, italian.
Actually, I have also a trunk novel set in Rome. ;)

Sadly no, though if you live in a country that's near others, it can be a little easier to see more different stuff. I wish I'd taken advantage more when I lived in the UK and seen more of Europe, Canada is so big it's hard to get anywhere here.

You never know! If you want to share your writing, it could become a hit. After all, some of the writers who are popular are not very good, so a big part of it is luck. I used to write a lot, but don't really have any desire to share with others as I'm not very skilled! ^_^

I know. This year I went to Berlin on a low budget trip (from Rome) and I spent 38€ for the plain ticket and like 12€/night for the "accomodation" (Good bless Air BnB). With food and museums, i spent around 230 euros for 7 days, so not too bad.

Now I'm saving money for Japan. (Let's say, I spent the last 2 years saving money for my on-rail trip)

Actually, I won a few writing competition back at my place, but nothing too serious. I used to write more, once. Maybe, I used to write better 😂

That sounds amazing. Japan is like a dream destination for me, probably one that;ll never happen without some significant planning it's just so far out of budget! Would be amazing to see though, both the traditional stuff and the city stuff like Tokyo.

Nah! Have confidence in yourself. I can honestly say that most idiots have confidence and do well because of it, a person with talent and confidence is nigh unbeatable, so have a little bit of faith in yourself (while staying humble) and your dreams will come true!

That's why I started saving money like 2 years ago. Now, as soon as my bestfriend returns in Italy, we'll try to find a cheap airline ticket for next summer. :) We'll be celebrating our MA graduation. (hopefully)

Actually, I don't have much spare time to write anymore. :/

If you're suffering from perfectionism getting in the way of your hobbies, like I was, I have some advice! I found it helpful to think of the act of creating as 'practice' so that no matter what the final turn-out was, I had succeeded in increasing my skill, this helped me to stop focusing on the end result that I saw as flawed and to focus more on the act of creating itself. Creating lowers stress and helps you learn to think outside the box, but it's really important to relax with it and have fun, instead of judging yourself so harshly.

I hope I didn't overstep my bounds, but this was a problem I used to suffer with a lot! Hope you keep arting!

Nah, it's perfectly fine :)
So far thinking of a picture as individual parts helped - trying to do parts individually well but paying less attention to the big picture helped to accept some parts of it as good, and not just write off the whole thing as bad. Or paying attention to the goal of making the picture (practice, just as you said) and the time spent on it - looking at how even good artists often spend hours, days on their really, really good pictures - making an acceptible sketch with coal in ~20minute, based on a scene from a game is good enough for me. (for now!) :)

Little shop of horrors is the bomb. Once my mum got a really weird looking cactus that looked almost like a Cactus/carnivore hybrid and we asked her if there had been an eclipse right before she picked it up.

My sister also suffers from what we call the 'brown thumb'. She killed two cacti (supposedly the hardiest plants for beginners)

Carnivorous plants are such a fun hobby and very unique! I can't have any plants because my cats eat them and my apartment layout only has the bathroom closed off ^_^;

Those are very beautiful and interesting, especially the pitcher type (I think I'm right on that) as it looks more like a flower!

Cooking. It's my job too but I do it for fun all the time, for loved ones or just myself, or to experiment with techniques, ideas, ingredients.
Right now my experiments are focused mainly on liquor, ice creams and condiments. I have a batch of pickled green dates and walnuts I can't wait to try. I hate waiting!

Other than that, music. Guitar and uke right now mostly.

Wish there were more hours in the day though. So much to try and so little time.

Sending you good vibes for your health and the garage sale

Just curious, have you ever been able to make liquor ice cream? :O

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Looooots. Some of my favorite flavors are liquor based and with a kick too because I use real liquor and no boiling away the alcohol. It's a bit of a tweak from the classic ice cream making process to make sure the alcohol doesn't prevent proper freezing and create texture problems but it's very easily solved.
I also work a lot with home made infused liquor (mostly rum and vodka, sometimes gin or brandy) that I have lying around the garage.

What's your favorite ice cream?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hmm, has to be Vanilla -- goes with almost everything!

Would love to hear about special tricks to make liquor ice cream! Last time I tried, I ended up with a smoothie, which made me realize the lower freezing point of alcohol was messing with the process.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ah yeah that will be the issue if you use a traditional process without burning the alcohol first. And if you do boil it, you'll get the flavor and lose the kick.

There are various tricks but the easiest for a home cook is using gelatin to stabilize the alcohol. Putting the liquor you're going to use in the fridge the day before also helps.
You just make the custard for the ice cream as usual and cool it overnight. Then you bloom some gelatin in a little water, make sure it dissolves well then whisk in the (cold) liquor. Then strain that into your cold custard, whisk and churn it as usual in your machine.

You'll get the flavor, the kick and your ice cream will get a much creamier texture from the added gelatin (it prevents the ice crystals from clumping when freezing.

Bourbon goes great with vanilla ;)

This is a picture of the whole process

I don't have ratios in my head but I can look it up in my notebook if you need measurements

Thanks for the tips! Also, the chart you included is pretty helpful to understand the process! Will give this a try as soon as I get a replacement freezer bowl for my ice cream maker (the old one's worn out). Looking forward to surprising people with this treat! :)

Thanks so much, the Garage sale went really well and we raised over $500 which will go right in savings because it always seems stuff is going wrong so best to be prepared for the next thing!

I think cooking is really fascinating, but due to my energy I rarely do it! I like to watch cooking shows though, it's satisfying to see the professionals figure out which flavour works with which.

I agree, too little time in a day! Especially when you work. By the time my partner gets home, only a couple of hours to relax before bed, doesn't leave much time for a hobby. I think the work-life balance has started to deteriorate over the last few years!

Very sensible of you. I'm a spender. My lady's a saver. Thankfully she's also very convincing so she wins most of the time.

I like to watch cooking shows though, it's satisfying to see the professionals figure out which flavour works with which.

I'm also a cooking show addict. Iron Chef is my cocaine.

Definitely. Gets worse when your loved one has a day job and you work mostly nights. Definitely a balancing act.

I used to be more of spender when I was working, but I've learned to be extremely thrifty. The other motivator was before I got sick and had to leave work (about 2 years before) my cat got sick and to save his life we had to give him 10,000 dollar surgery. We maxed out everything, credit cards, line of credit, you name it. Before that we were always really careful with money, but not like we are now, never a lot of savings or anything. We're on a payment plan now and technically should be putting the savings towards it, but we've learned the hard way to keep money for if something goes wrong.

To be super real for a minute (sorry for all the word vomit!), I sometimes get angry about the situation, especially the vets who charge exorbitant rates, but it's hard not to be grateful. If we hadn't had all the credit, our cat would have died, so I can't be angry at the money when he's ok.

Oh nooo are you guys on opposite shift? That's the worst. Very difficult to balance :( Hope it can change someday, but the skills you learn now to get time together and keep your relationship good will help you in the long term as well!

Wowza! Yeah I get that it cured you of extraneous spending. I never had a pet myself (mostly due to allergies) but my uncle had a dog whom I loved more than my actual cousins and who got to live to be an old man of 20 years old. He was a lovely being and a true friend so I get the love. They were robbed blind by vets, especially in his last years but they were grateful for every month that they gained.

Oh nooo are you guys on opposite shift? That's the worst. Very difficult to balance

Kinda. Kitchen work happens at odd hours and none of them are office hours lol. I'm trying to get more catering jobs and I teach a little to try and make the shift to full day time. We're talking about kids so things will have to change. It as even worse when she used to deejay on the weekends lol so we'll manage.

And never apologize for long replies .It's always fun reading from you ;)

Awww thanks, that's sweet. I don't get to talk to a lot of people cause I'm stuck in the house :) I get that vets have to make a living, but what bothers me is the ones who have the attitude of, if you don't pay they'll just let your pet die. They were actually very kind afterwards (I don't think anyone expected us to actually pay after we got rejected for a plan) and even got us a 1,000 rebate, but at the same time it's confusing to me. Surely 10,000 dollars isn't just covering costs. In my case, he was only 4 at the time too, so there was no way I was giving up without a fight, I paid to bring him from Scotland to Canada with me too when people said I was crazy and they would have given him away. I'm definitely an animal lover. I think if you adopt it, it's your responsibility. I was lucky to be in a situation where I could manage to help him, even if it meant crazy, scary debt, so I really empathise with your uncle too. 20 is a great age for a dog!

I really hope you can get more of a day-time shift so you can have kids. That's a dream of mine and my partner for a while, but it's always delayed until I am well enough. It's tough putting your dream off again and again. Also nice to hear someone talk about having kids, almost nobody I know wants them and the ones who have them never really planned, it just happened ^_^;

The internet is a wonderful thing sometimes ;)

Exactly. If it was a kid, people wouldn't be saying that, would they? People who have pets and just discard them when it gets inconvenient or hard... I don't get that. Each year here, animal shelters advertise for "alternative solutions" for people who are going on vacations and just leave their poor loving pets on the side of the road, even mutilating them to take tattoos or chips away so it doesn't come back them. That's inhuman.
Still you did more than even kind people do for their pets. That's a lot of good karma in the bank

That's a dream of mine and my partner for a while, but it's always delayed until I am well enough. It's tough putting your dream off again and again

Yeah it is. I hope you get well soon. Kids need energy, especially when you need to carry them for 9 months lol (I do admit to some jealousy because it seems a beautiful experience)

Also nice to hear someone talk about having kids, almost nobody I know wants them and the ones who have them never really planned, it just happened ^_^;

Heh yeah I see that too. I have a few friends who had to try harder because of various medical issues or bigotry against same sex parenting in their country so I do have people around me who talked about wanting kids a lot (and love their kids to bits now) but I guess it's also a generational thing. I work with all ages and I have friends across several generations but something happens around the 35 year old mark lol and you hear about kids more

Writing - I've actually written a full 95k words novel that I am correcting right now, I hope I can get published when I'm done with that :)
Drawing - sometimes I'll produce like 6 great drawings in a month, sometimes I'll spend one year doing like 3 random sketches... Been very productive this february/March and almost nothing ever since.
Photography - I'm an amateur and I don't fully understand some of the stuff but it's fun.
Music - I love so many genres (about 70), from Rap to Metal and from Orchestral to Electro. I'd LOVE to be able to compose and have been trying for years, but I just don't get it despite 7 years of inefficient musical training. I think I might have some musical dyslexia...
A few sports that I'm unable to practise for the moment: ice hockey, iaidō, skiing.
Learning all kinds of stuff mostly from YouTube.
Also travelling, which might be the only thing I could do everyday for the rest of my life... But well that's not a thing you can do everyday :(
And graphic design which is technically (currently unemployed) my career.
But really what I do most of the time is wasting time doing pretty much nothing xD

Good luck for your garage sale! I love those, so many great deals and unexpected finds! :D
I hope your health gets better soon though.
Also I too have this fascination about all kinds of arts, humans can be truly amazing. It's always impressive to see what people can come up with, although a little depressing when you look back at your own shitty work xD

I really enjoy traveling, though I have not done it in a little while and I want to plan a new trip.. Tibet, India, Africa, Iran, all over Europe... so many places left to visit! And I still have yet to build a conversion van and take a road trip across my country (US) and Canada.

I like outdoors stuff, hiking, camping, would like to get into biking. Reading is great, I've always loved sci-fi and fantasy, but over the past few years I've also started reading more non-fiction like history, politics, philosophy, self-improvement stuff. Computers and technology have also been a big interest of mine, and I like doing various small hardware projects, building / upgrading computers, using Linux and other open source software, and hosting my own cloud services.

I don't really know much about cars, but I'd like to get one that's a little nicer and faster ;) and learn to work on it a bit. Good luck with your garage sale, I hope you feel a lot better and sell tons of stuff!

Travelling is incredible, being able to see different people and places, it's so surprising how amazing just our planet is. I haven't been able to travel a lot, but have lived in four different countries, which can be interesting by itself! I'd love to see more of Canada (my adopted country), but it's soooo huge and I'll admit that I'm kind of a wimp about uncomfortable ways of travelling. Cooking - probably my biggest passion, beside gaming, I love to cook, I spend 2-4h in kitchen per day usually, come up with own ideas, experiment, learn new things, buy lots of unnecessary kitchen equipment, I also do love to eat, learn new cuisines and dishes, have immense love for street-food, so every vacations I try to eat a lot of new stuff and most things I bring back from my trips are cooking related, like local ingredients that sometime take up half of my luggage ;p

Reading fantasy and sci-fi - I read casually, so nothing like 5 books a week, but I try to keep up an average of 1 book read every 1-2 weeks ^^

Movies - I have a massive collection of DVDs and BRs (over 3k now), we also often go to cinema or attend film festivals, I watch everything, from low class action movies, through big hollywood blockbusters to niche experimental cinema where 'nothing happens' ;p Only thing I do not watch are romcoms ;p

Travelling - we were always 'travelling' in one way or another, since we met we would go visit different places, do different stuff, from mountain hiking to sailing on the lakes, visiting different cities, even small ones if they had something intresting to see, we were going to conventions all over the country or just going for walks in various places, like forests, lakesides, riversides etc, but all these travels were pretty close ones, done by bus/train/car. Only 4-5 years ago we started more 'serious' travelling, first when my fiancee got a job in a big airline (nothing to do with flying itself thou, she was working in IT department ;p) and we had access to cheap employees-only tickets, so we started from short city-breaks all over the Europe, then we learned along the way, how to hunt for cheap flights and not to rely on very limited employee tickets (you could only use them if there were free slots in the plane, so you never knew if you're going to have a sit until the very last moment), how to find cheap places to stay, how to organize sightseeing and local travels. Nowadays we are travelling a lot I think (considering still holding daily job by her and me spending a lot of time working from home as well), 1-2 longer 1 week+ vacations per year plus a few 1-3 days citybreaks in the meantime, nothing too fancy, we are usually travelling on low-mid budget, so no travel-agencies, fancy hotels, all inclusive etc, we organise everything ourselves, sleep in hostels or cheap airbnb apts, sometimes couchsurfing, we travel by local transport or hire cheap car if we plan some longer trips, we eat locally and not in the most expensive places etc. During these 4-5 years we already visited most of European countries (26 so far), had 3 trips to different continent (still close ones thou, Morocco, Tunisia and Israel) and in the meantime are planning our big honeymoon whole-month trip to Japan, but it's only going to happen in 2 or 3 years, so prolly quite a few of smaller trips till then ^^

I will be honest - travelling as much is a little problematic sometimes, it often interferes with other stuff, we often travel during holidays (cause we don't have to wast limited amount of free days in work, but it also means we will miss some family holidays, birthdays of friends, parties etc), and such amount of travelling basically means you cannot save up for anything else, you gotta give up some things to have monies for other things ;) But yeah we have lots of memories, both good and bad, but bad ones tend to turn blank quite soon ;p Also two additions - some of these countries 'visited' are not fully 'visited' yet, we went somewhere for citybreak, saw one city for 1-3 days and went back, so we still have whole country to explore ;p Plus we already had 9 countries visited before we even started more serious travelling ;p

Well honestly I'd prefer spending my money in traveling than in cigarettes or an uselessly expensive car or whatever :D As I saw on an airline company's leaflet: "Travelling is the only thing you can buy that will make you richer".
Well as for the family meetings, it's right that it must be annoying to miss some of those but it wouldn't stop me from traveling either. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And bad memories become the funnier anecdotes when some time as passed!

Indeed, it's case of priorities ;p We have old dying car, despite not bad earnings we cannot afford to buy our own flat (forever renting), because it would mean no travels at all for first 2-3 years, only time in last 6 years we upgraded our PC was when something broke down, and never was it full upgrade, just replacing broken component etc, but at the other hand when someone asks 'so what were you up to this weekend?' instead of usual 'Netflix and chill' we can say 'oh you know, we went for a one day trip to Bergamo to eat some authenthic pizza, drink some wine, walk the old city and then got back home' ^^

I like thinking about being able to cook, lol.
I sometimes get inspired, but usually screw something up because of bad prep. :P

The travel sounds awesome, nice and basic, all you need really.
Getting a taste for places is good, you can (almost) always go back :)
(almost, like I went to Yugoslavia and Tjechoslovakia...only a time-machine will help me return :P)

well, even if technically some country may no longer be around you can still visit the same place - the city will still be there, the tourist attractions will still be there, all beautiful places will look the same no matter what country they are currently in. Who cares if Prague is now in Czechia, previously was in Czech Republic and before that it was in Czechoslovakia - it's still the same wonderful Prague ;p Only time when you cannot go somewhere is when there is a war nowadays (luckilly in Europe not common thing, still will prolly not go to Crimea for example and it used to be a great destination), or if something gets completelly destroyed (by war or natural forces) - again luckilly also not a common thing in Europe, yet still happens. For example Azure Window in Malta is no longer existing, luckilly I managed to see it before it collapsed.

Kindred spirits, we are ;)
I spend so much time explaining myself to the TSA every time I travel! Between the knives and the weird spices and herbs, I always have to allow for 10-20 mn of extra time 😎
What's your latest useless kitchen acquisition? I'm on a time-out because my lady is threatening to throw my pasta machine and some of my knives for space (stuff I actually rely on) if I buy anything new before Christmas. The kitchen is overflowing into other rooms so she put her foot down

hmm, let's think, I got a new countertop blender last month, but this is actually useful as my fiancee is currently on a diet consisting of lots of coctails and cream soups and thus for such things done in big amounts a countertop blender is much more useful than normal hand-blender or immersion blender, and I only had these two, from less useful accesorries, I got a new cheese board - one that you can open and inside of it is space for set of 6 cheese knives and last week I bought an ice cream machine on promotion, summer will be ending soon so they discounted it heavilly and I couldn't stop myself xD And from travel-related stuff, we were in Greece in June and I used almost all our luggage for food products (and alcohol ;p) xD I brought almost 1kg of spices, herbs etc, 1.5l jar of tahini, lots of kalamata olives, cheeses, dried seasoned mutton meat, 1kg of baklava, balsamico infused with fruits, 5 bottles of wine, Ouzo, Tsipouro, Metaxa, kumquats liqueur, went to Czechia recently but into mountains, not major cities, so I had no place to purchase local food, only brought back beer and absinthe ;p

Yeah man, I got so many blenders, I have a cupboard with a "Blenderland" sticker on it. Useful suckers though.

Ice cream machine! I need a new one! Mine has been worn off this summer and it's not cold enough anymore so the texture of my ice creams is not as smooth as it used to be. I'd love to get a Pacojet because I've used it professionally and it's a dream but I can't justify to myself the steep price tag for a tool I'll use only a dozen times a year.

we were in Greece in June and I used almost all our luggage for food products (and alcohol ;p)

Haha I know what you mean! Greece has such beautiful products! And we never get the premium stuff on export. Last time we went, I got a suitcase full of mastika for all my cooking buddies and I spent a week back home distributing suspicious looking bags filled with white powder or crystals lol. My girlfriend said I was going to end up arrested with some of the weirdest explaining to do.

Lots of great food in Poland too!

oh and got one more thing but I cannot find how it's translated into english, in polish it's called przecierak, and it's a tool you use to make mousses, I mainly use it to make shitloads of tomato mousse in summer when tomatoes are cheap, I usually buy 20-30kg of tomatoes, cook them, mousse them all, jar them, pasteurize them and then I have base for soups, sauces, casseroles etc for whole year ;p I got it because my old przecierak broke in half last year ;p Anyway tool looks like this:

Sounds like you have a super full, exciting life! While I'm always to tired to cook, as a product tester I have a massive soft spot for kitchen gadgets and if I had a lot of money I'd buy way too many! Anything that makes cooking easier is great for me too.

Congrats on your engagement as well and I hope you can have your dream honeymoon, I never had a honeymoon and always regretted it.

I really adore film and TV, but theatre is so expensive that lately I realised I've only been watching Blockbusters in the cinema, which makes me worry about the future of cinema.

It sounds like you have a really cool way to get cheap tickets and that means you can travel a lot, which is amazing! Not a lot of people get the chance to do so much travelling until they are older and have more income, so it's amazing that you can do so much of it now, but don't forget to take time to relax and chill out as well!

What was your fave place you visited so far?

As for theatres I guess it depends on local ticket prices, what cinemas you choose and on your watching habits. I usually avoid chain cinemas, go to biggest independent cinema in region (not only no wasting 45minutes on ads but also no popcorn and other stuff like that, cheaper tickets, much more movies to choose from - usually they are showing 20+ movies just not as often, while chain cinema will be showing 5-8 just screening after screening for the whole day) - I usually use promotion 'cheap mondays' where I buy tickets for 14PLN (3.20EUR) so it's really not that expensive, if I were to go to big chain cinema, go at weekend, buy big popcorn, soda etc I'd probably spend 50+PLN (13.5EUR) - so like I said cinema-going habits make a big difference ;p

As for cheap tickets - at least in Europe anyone can do it, there are flight search agregators, there are websites, groups, forums etc dedicated to cheap flights searches (if I find a flight I know will not use myself I will spread the word, other people will do the same), there are blogs solely dedicated to teaching how to hunt for cheap tickets or how to organise cheap travels etc. But I honestly have no idea how this works in Northern America, are such a big savings as often possible or not, we sometimes share cheap tickets to US and across US, but I don't know how representative they are for whole flight market there, so cannot really recommend if and how to oprganize cheap travels there, maybe just an idea of hunting for cheap WOW/Norwegian (EU-US sometimes is ~140-200EUR for return tickets, I assume US-EU would be the same) flights and then continuing to travel over Europe, but it is much longer, more complicated to organize and more expensive trip than European citybreak so I wouldn't really recommend it for someone just starting.

As for favoritue place it's really hard to say, not only because I visited quite a lot, but also because 'fave place' can mean a lot of things, it can mean fave city, fave region, fave trip, fave location etc. For example I've had trips which were not-horrible-but-also-not-so-great but there was one place I visited that made it all up (for example Meteora in Greece, probably best place I've ever been, surely best place in Greece, thou our whole trip to Greek Macewdonia with parts of Central Greece was not best, there were worthy elements, but were misses as well, and I would say going for southern Greece or Greek Islands is overall much better idea than going for Macedonia). So as it's quite hard to name one place I will name a few ;p

My favoritue tourist attraction is probably before-mentioned Meteora, it is simply stunning, everything, mountains, sights, strange rock formations, these monasteries on top of high rocks - it's all very surreal and otherworldly, probably also helps that we visited before high season and there really weren't that manyt tourists around which is rarity for such popular spots.
As for favoritue city it's gonna be strange one, but italian Bergamo - no crowds of big tourists cities, beautifully preserved old city, great atmosphere, no 'big-city' elements like endless fields of concrete buildings etc, close to many great spots, like Alpine mountains, Como lake (one of the most beautiful lakes ever), Milan... Bergamo itself is probably my favoritue place for city-break and I've visited it 3-4 times so far just like that - for one-three days :)
Favoritue region - here it's no-brainer, I'm crazy in love with Spanish Andalucia (just off-season, mid-summer it's way too hot), it has everything - beautiful beaches and just few kilometers off-shore you have mountains with beautiful sights, few kilometers further and you have really high mountains, one of the most beautiful mountain trails ever (Caminito del Rey is absolutelly stunning), you have snow peaks of Sierra Nevada, you have both clasical spanish architecture and old arabic architecture, you have small white-cities and you have lots of great and unique medium and big cities (Seville, Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda to name a few), you have world-wide-known tourist attractions (Alhambra for example) and you have totally undiscovered ones (like Nerja cave), you have great natural regions, like mentioned mountains, you have Gibraltar pretty close...), you have very tasty food, people are always smiling, extremelly friendly - I could go on and on aboiut why Andalucia is so great ;p
Favoritue Island gotta be portuguese Madeira, island of forever-spring, great climate, it's far away from everything, beautiful sights, it's not overflooded with tourists, it's not popular among parety-goers like many other islands are, but there are many other great islands I love, Madeira is closely followed by Malta nad maybe Santorini (thou problem with Santorini lately is that it became way too popular, there are too many tourists and it's simply way too crowded for such a small island).
Favoritue place to eat - Sicily.
Favoritue country overall - Ireland (plus Dublin is also pretty high on my list of favoritue cities).
Best place far from civilization? Norwegian fjords (thou Norway is crazy expensive, but it's not such a big problem for fjords, you just pack most of your food with you and don't spend locally more than you absolutelly have), but Iceland is awesome as well (and very otherworldly), but also as expensive as Norway ;(

I could go on and on, and these are just my most beloved places, there are many many more that are also great, just not as great as these ;p

Sounds like a nice peaceful life, to be honest and quite similar to my own, I spend a lot of time indoors. I'm an extroverted introvert. People don't think I'm an introvert because I talk a lot and am quite rambunctious and able to speak to people easily, but I got really burned out easily and need peace and quiet afterwards and end up with drained energy. I also have anxiety on the inside, I'm just good at 'talking the talk' so people don't know!

Haha, I don't drink (often) and have never been drunk, but I can understand the pleasures in the other hobbies! I've always had kind of an old lady personality, and don't really like noisy places. Old before my time ;)

Art, horseback riding (western), writing & reading. Though in all honesty, I have too little time for any of those thanks to my health. :(
Luckily I found audio books AND a job where I can listen to those. Now, to find energy for other creative endeavours & training (and gaming)... Switched to coloured pencil as my main medium recently which really slowed the art thing down, but at least I don't need to set up, clean etc. like with others -- such as oils: really hating that bit of oil painting.

I feel ya on that health front. Right now my hobby is mostly survive, when I'm doing well, there's a lot I like to do. Try not to be too hard on yourself and to rest when you need it. I'd love to see your work if you're comfortable sharing any of your art.

One thing I'm really missing right now is being able to do adult colouring books which is really relaxing and means I don't have to judge the 'quality' but can just enjoy it. I'm not great at coloured pencils though, but it's fun!

It's definitely a hobby! It's also an extremely useful skill. A lot of my hobbies, like product reviewing is more 'work' than hobby, but it's still a hobby to me.

Yeah, it can be so expensive to fund that kind of thing!

Your english is great!
