My most regretful purchase from Steam is buying "Trackmania United Forever Star Edition" for £19,99 when there's a free version of the game available.

What's your most regretful purchase and why?

I suppose i'd have to say a mount and blade pack when the fire one was just released. While i love the games, warband, which was the one i was excited about, just seemed so broken. But it has probably had several patches and the mods most likely add a ton, so i am putting my dissapointment behind me to try again. :)

I wish we could uninstall and regift games we don't like, like we do other things in real life 8D I'd get rid of Left 4 Dead 2... sorry, I royally suck at first person shooters, I only bought it to play with a friend. We played once 8/

Sanctum, mostly because my computer can't handle it without frame lag, which makes it impossible to kill those giant thingies that can only be hit on their tiny heads.

I gotta agree, if only because it makes my PC bluescreen and shut down every time I try and play it XD

Eets. Reviews marketed it as a modern Lemmings with a level editor. What they didn't mention is the complete lack of any need for intuitive thought or the railroad style level designs that call to mind pushing colored wooden blocks through cookie cutter holes in a plastic cube. If you get a copy for free you've already paid too much.

Archon: Classic, says it supports multiplayer but it's only local multiplyer. Me and a friend got it thinking we could play together :(.
Brink:I played it for a week with some friends then got bored, to much hype.
Civ 5: Can never finish a game with friends I play with, we always quite before the end and never reload a saved game.
Worms Ultimate Mayhem: Played it like once or twice, doesn't compare to worms reloaded.

Had a few games my friends bought me that i thought were crap also but oh well.

Let's take open my Steam and see, as I can't name just one...

  • The Binding of Isaac: Okay, fck this sht, do I need to explain even?
  • Dead Horde: game looks like Diablo 2, yet the system requirements match those of Crysis? Wut?
  • Dungeons of Dredmor: you see i'm not really into rogue-likes?
  • Frozen Synapse: yeah, right (not actually sure if I got this gifted...)
  • Left 4 Dead 2: might be better with friends, but I don't have any
  • Magicka: mostly because it doesn't run good on my PC, so it was a let down - will try again later on
  • Team Fortress 2: oh yes...
  • Test Drive Unlimited 2: it was as bad as they said, but I didn't listen...

One might easily think that I only have crappy games on my Steam account :(

If you did not try out yet Max Payne, then DO IT! It's a fantastic game. First is pretty solid, but the second is absolute masterpiece! (the 1 need an unofficial audio patch on newer OS)
If you tried but didn't like it then i don't understand you. :)
