Random animal fact! (Spider stuff, ignore if you've got an extreme phobia but this is some interesting stuff)

Male black widow spiders are jerks, only two widow species (of the 31 currently known) exist where the female always eats their mate. The male literally throws himself into her mouth once done.

A female will spend almost her whole life working on one web. The male will leave his behind after the final moult (last growth spurt) and go looking for a female. Her web gives off her pheromones so thats how males find them. As he doesn't want competition he then starts to destroy her web to reduce the smell by wrapping it in his own silk. Eventually, he will wrap her in his silk into something called the "bridal veil" by researchers so he can mate with her then leave unharmed.

Some research even suggests the females appreciate their webs being taken apart as it reduces her scent and stops more males coming by. Are they jerks for destroying her home? Do the ladies actually like that? Who knows!
