It looks like he smashed his arm into the garbage can a few seconds before the 45 second mark. Maybe he was looking for his phone that he was trying to put in his pocket, but fell out when his arm hit the can (it looks like he had his arm in his pocket when he hit it).
What a way to be remembered. Garbage-can-hitting-guy-in-white-shirt...forever! ;)
At first I thought white t-shirt guy's pocket might have been torn and his phone slid down his trouser leg, but then I realized his phone was in his other hand the whole time. Also, playing it in slow-mo, it doesn't look like he hit his arm on the... trash container(?). He evaded it in the last moment.
Since he starts running his hand over his leg a lot and hides to the side to look at it closer, I still think his pocket had a hole and something slid down- maybe his keys or some coins.
