Hey everyone! I've got a question (or two?) if you're willing to answer.
Assume that you like RPGs with good stories (good gameplay too, but you want to get a story out of it as well, and not a token one!)
Where do you go to find RPGs with good stories? Do you just look for a 'storyrich' tag on Steam or do you read reviews somewhere? Where do you read game reviews?
If you don't read game reviews at all, would a blog that critiqued an RPGs story as well as the gameplay appeal to you? Or do you really not give a damn about the quality of the story since you play RPGs for the gameplay more than the story itself?
Thanks!
Yes, in a year or so I want to start a blog and review stories of all kinds - books, games, whatever. But I don't know who does this WELL for games, so... tips please!?

First, when I find a RPG I look at the images of the game to see how are the fights.
Then I go directly to the reviews. The positive ones let you know if it has a good story, however they could also be written by a fan-person blind of hype, so you have to believe half the words.
Whenever I've read a few good reviews I go to the negative ones. Ignore all reviews that say "this game sucks" or "it works fine for return". Eventually there's always a well written review in which you can find all the problems the game has.
With all of this you decide if you want the game or not
I hope it is useful for you ;)

Hahaha, thanks!
Where do you usually read reviews?
Appreciate you commenting! :D

I usually use the steam page of the game, however any website with these coments is valid.
For example, sometimes I also use Meristation, which has reviews made from videogames critics and reviews from users.
However this page is on Spanish, but the method is always the same:
Images from the game -> good reviews -> bad reviews -> analize if I want the game

I absolutely agree with Jtachan. Other than his opinion, I can say I don't really look for RPG's, I think if the game is really good it will find me. However, if wanted to read a review, it would be an old school magazine review. More like the story of the story. How did you play the game, what did you feel, etc. Plus I think pros/cons is a must.

Hmmm, any idea who writes reviews like that online?
And great ideas! Thanks very much, good luck!

Unfortunatelly, I have no idea about that.

I don't normally play RPG, but when I do, I usually just get most popular ones, that I heard a lot about. Like Witcher 3, Kingdome Come, ELEX, Tyranny, etc. I barely played any of them, though, but I plan to finish at least one in foreseeable future. As even the most popular ones are hundreds of hours, I don't really need more.
Story is in fact more important for me than gameplay, as I treat such games as interactive non-linear books rather than games.
I would like to read a summary of the story, but without spoilers, or at least with not a lot of them. This is hard task to achieve sometimes, as sometimes it's very hard to describe what is good about the story without spoiling it...

Very true! And great points, thank you!
Anywhere specific you go when you want to read a review? Or just steam?
Thanks again!

When I need info about specific game, just steam. For fun though, I check one russian website sometimes... it's more of a news site than review one, though (although it has some reviews), and comments have more value than news themself. It has interesting polls as well, that have elaborated discussion of a subject in comments.

Firstly I wish you the best of luck.
When i was really into games i watched Totalbiscuit. Now he's gone, and i've stopped playing as many games. Mainly i look at steam reviews, and yahtzee's videos. Being popular really helps. I also skim a local computer magazine, which has a games section.

Nice, didn't realize TotalBiscuit was gone. I have never cared for watching videos myself, but most people prefer it!
