I would totally buy this game just to have a Steam copy for $5. Gotta wait until the sales though.

Thank you so very much for a shot at this kickass action RPG. I adore the first one, so I just know that I'd love its sequel. Especially since I can play it with friends. :)

I have this already since I pre-ordered, but it is indeed a good game. I wouldn't say it has much replayability however, as I stopped playing it. Maybe the newly released editor will spur the modding community to make something good.

I understand your point and thought the same way for a little while. Although now I certainly do think it has alot of replayability, just like Diablo 2. Most important part what was missing from the first Torchlight got added to the second, co-op. Imo this alone gives enough reasons to play it again and again.
Also it helps that I really like to experiment and test every kind of stuff, which you can do with item/skill builds and so on. This was actually a reason I didn't enjoy the game at first as much as I do now. It had no official support for respeccing thus completely destroying experimenting.
I'm sure upcoming mods will add to the enjoyment and removing some frustrating mechanics from the game, if you wish to play a modded game. Like 10 second duration buffs, which can be really annoying.

I finished the game to NG+ with both the Embermage and Outlander on Veteran and there wasn't much leeway in builds that effectively worked on that difficulty. Both the builds I used basically used pure Focus and Prismatic bolt/Glaive throw to hit multiple targets.
I don't know if they've rebalanced things now, but I tried some other builds on the Outlander and got absolutely demolished by Act 2 or 3. The Glaive Throw build was the only viable way to play and stay alive.
I've only played TL2 with friends and we've all stopped playing, maybe we'll again when there's been a long enough of a break - it's what we did with Titan Quest.

It's very possible to stay alive with shield up, dex/str on Elite on Outlander with no glaive skills whatsoever. That AoE heal skill, stone wall, whatever it's called, + the pushback summon self-buff are essentials. Learn to flip at the right time, etc. After that, wait until you get acid rain and it's smooth sailing from there.
Vit is crap; never used as a main stat for me. Just use a shield if you can't beat a boss or champion or whatever.
My embermage can hammer through everything with AoE skills, but lately prismatic bolt is my only way of surviving. I can squeeze in fire rain/pillars, but it's still down to prismatic bolt in the end. That, and shield.

I can't remember the specifics now, but I believe I did have and use the AOE heal, Stone pact and repulsion hex in attempt to stay alive, but failed miserably. The glaive throw (pre-nerf) was so outrageously overpowered that it was essentially the only skill you needed to use.
