Description

This is slightly off the intended topic, and I hope anyone that reads this will understand:

Mental health is one of the most glaring issues that is underfunded in my country, USA. For a lot of reasons, I am not very happy to call this my home. The entire healthcare system is purely about profiting, making thousands of times what it should be here in general, but the irony is that with all that profit, not much of it is going back into the source. Patients are now being called clients... People always put stuff in the newspapers or on television when somebody loses it and goes on a rampage somewhere, and then they ask, "Who could do something like this? What is wrong with them?".

The real question in many of these cases that people should be asking themselves is, "What is wrong with society? Why have we all failed this person, and why did we not do something about this when we had a chance?" I feel we are to blame, as it glaringly shows that we are failing these people, and not the other way around. Many times these people that are made out to be some kind of monsters are actually the victims, and have a long and traumatizing past history of mental health issues, and are in many cases being abused to a large extent, sometimes before and definitely after the fact. For some reason, the weakest are being ignored on a large scale, while the strong are given huge amounts of power, but taking absolutely no responsibility for anything. This is a destructive cycle of thinking on an entirely different level, and only adds to many of the problems already there.

The things we see happening take somebody who is mentally ill to even consider doing. It's not what a healthy thinking person would do, plain and simple. Something happened somewhere down the line to cause this chain of events. They are in trouble, and these are cries for help. Help they are not getting, or have not been getting to an adequate degree. My point is, many of these things are quite preventable, but we need more help for those that are in trouble. We also need to see things from a more realistic perspective instead of playing into the hands of the media, and realize we as a society are accountable in almost every incidence of suicide or suicidal rampages to a large degree. Maybe if we made the peoples' lives in question who do this better and if they felt like they had a reason to go on, or if it wasn't so bad that they needed to consider escaping something that might not really be as bad as someone thinks it is in the first place, it would not be happening at the rate which it is happening. It is hugely about perspective, as the world I live in can be a paradise or hell, just based on the way I view it.

I feel a big part of this is that there is simply not very much access being given to those that are less fortunate. All the psychiatrists and psychologists want to charge hundreds of dollars per visit! If we can start changing things one person at a time here in my country, and others around the world, maybe a difference can be made. It has to start somewhere though. What happened? Where is the love? I could put these questions anywhere... It baffles me with the current state of things.

Most people who are in trouble don't have the resources for this, and the little help they are offered is lackluster at best. I know firsthand, since I don't have access to anything in my immediate area. I just recently found a place that does neuropsychology, but they are two hours away from me, and there are literally hundreds of doctors and psychiatrists in my area less than 10 minutes away that will not take my insurance in the area. Most people who have disabling conditions of the mind are in the "less fortunate" bracket, which is growing bigger and bigger as the gap between rich and poor grows wider and wider, so people in these practices should make it a priority to take those people first, and not just the people who have a lot of money and can pay out of pocket. I think we would have less incidents of people going untreated and left to go on a rampage later on if they had more resources available before it got to that point. The money left morals far behind, and it's all about profiting off of the suffering and misery of others. We are in this together. Let's reach these people before it's too late. If I need help, we need help.

This game seems quite interesting and hard, thanks for your GA!
