Er, depends on if the specific thing is important enough to me to worth bearing the consequences of rebelling against rules/expectations. I don't rebel just for the sake of it, but I made some major decisions that went against what my family thought reasonable, and they strongly tried to discourage me from doing them at the time (and I don't regret any of them :P)
